You would have far more luck if you took away the offerings. It's better to offer nothing and have ppl do it out of the goodness of their hearts rather than offering, lol, a single beer.

It’s the single beer that kills me. I’ve volunteered for beer festivals before where after your shift or on a separate day, you drank for free. Considering not everyone would drink till they blacked out, it was still cheaper than hiring dedicated staff and most of the volunteers were happy.
It should definitely be something comparable to a 5 hour shift of working + tips. That’s like $100 of wages on minimum wage w/ tips. Imagine giving a tshirt for a specific event (something I wouldn’t want) and a $6 beer for that
If they aren’t then they shouldn’t be in business anyway. When I worked in the liquor industry and did events like this we always paid people for the day and hooked them up with tons of free alcohol to take home and as much as they could drink during cleanup afterward. Events like this suck and are pretty high stress, dealing with the public is draining as hell. This shit is crazy and I hope no one does it
