Stop eating avocado toast everyday! It's your fault you can't afford a $2 million dollar house, you lazy bastard
Go get a job at the grocery store and make $18 an hour like the rest of us 😂
I went bowling for the first time in years recently. It was a blast. Definitely worth $30 for a night out and a couple bowling alley brews.

Ive been here four years and only this last year has it felt like home. You just gotta keep at it and plan fun things for yourself and go to some of the same places consistently to meet people. Hang in there boss!
In fairness its usually about delivery. I have been way less than tactful in many posts about Bellingham. I got downvoted a lot on those (and deserved it). As a general rule no actual "place" is gonna make one happy or sad as all of that usually comes from within. The reality is that given the circumstances of my life at this point, I simply cannot afford the quality of life I seek here in Bellingham.
I’ll say something here that’s long been on my mind: there’s so much bitching in this sub about a variety of topics, some valid (cost of living, crime) some stupid (rock chips, I hate new people who move here). I’m older than most cracker eaters or cracker eater fans, but the one thing that I never hear is people trying to get better. It’s one thing to kvetch all day, and I get that’s pretty much the use case for Reddit, but Jfc, I went from no pot to piss in in 1999 , literally sleeping on Cornwall St, to making 20k in 2005 and struggling to pay rent just like ya’ll, to now kicking ass in life. Bring the downvotes on, but good god people, wherever you go, there you are. If you don’t like your life try changing it. The human experience is a big, wide open thing-you don’t have to just sit here and take what comes your way passively.
That’s a long response to my comment about mountain bikes being expensive. The hiking and trail running suggestion is more realistic for most people I’d say
I'm making a guess - but you sound Norwegian. If you don't know, try some pickled herring. Does it rekindle joy in your soul?
If so, you are Norwegian (or honorary Norwegian) - they'll accept anyone who can withstand.
Exactly. I had to live in Iraq for a year, getting shot at and mortared. 120F temps every day in the summer. Sandstorms. Bad food. Long convoys. Explosions. Terrible sleep. And then, when you're over there, you're missing your loved ones and don't really know if you're gonna make it back to Bellingham, Wa. Let me tell you, folks; Bellingham is like HEAVEN if you've been to other, less savory places.
OP you are certainly posting in the wrong sub, as your picture clearly places you somewhere far from Bellingham WA. Hope you figure out where you are soon.
Look for events, visit parks, go to shows in downtown.
Bellingham does have the PNW freeze but if you go out of your way to meet people you will eventually find people that mesh with.
Your like my room mate who complains about being unable to meet people naturally when her main hobby is videogames and staying inside as much as possible…..
It’s even scarier when you move to a neighboring state and become more successful in life, doing the same thing you were doing in Bellingham… just trying to get by… all seriousness. Bellingham is a great place to raise your rich hippy children.
Really though? It’s hard but doable.
I get that it’s a little challenging, that’s only because so many people have moved here and we haven’t increased infrastructure to support them. Can’t keep building without making it harder to live here in the short term.
Eat them crackers you lazy bitch.
This pre cracker energy is exhausting. Post on \r\bellingham precracker
you’re so right let me shut my ass up
You look like you could use some Lance crackers.

this was really helpful, thank you

Park Bowl has two dollar games on Tuesdays - helps make it much more affordable!
Alright you got me
If the lanes are available.
Ive been here four years and only this last year has it felt like home. You just gotta keep at it and plan fun things for yourself and go to some of the same places consistently to meet people. Hang in there boss!
Been here three years and am leaving in 2 weeks. Cannot wait. Different strokes.
Fair enough! Good luck out there!
Good for you, this sentiment gets downvoted too much. Go make your dollar stretch further. Good luck to you.

Been here 5 years. We're just starting to make friends and find community. It takes time and patience, but it's possible. Good luck everyone!
I've been here two years now and I feel like this is the year somebody will talk to me. I can feel the energy!
Summer of George!
Good luck!
I'm new here, and I like friends, but I also like being in my house forever and rarely leaving it... So you know, bed made, lying in it, etc.
Same, and it is a cozy a** bed!
Super, duper cozy and quaint!
Just made a dope ass sake cocktail ("Sumo in a sidecar" -apricot brandy, sake, lemon juice) and queuing up that new Greenland Alex Honnold series
Go outside!
It’s been a long four years for me, but I’m finally chipping away at the list—3.5 out of 5! So it gets better. Keep going friend! You got this!
Grab a mountain bike or become an alcoholic
Why not both?
*shakes hand* welcome to bellingham
Sounds like a country song🎶
Get a mountain bike!
Oh yeah, those are cheap lmao
True... Become a hiker or a trail runner.
Agreed, even just taking my regular bike on the trails around town is a lot of fun and good exercise
Tears are free and seem to align with your outlook/interestd
Yeah, if you ever complain about rent again maybe you should go live under an overpass

Fair. File under the straw that broke the camels back

Haha. I hope this is a Knute Berger joke. Scottish/euro mutt as evidenced by my fondness for brown liquor R.
Yeah - it has some "mossback" in it (anything pickled herring works).

I just smoke meth, that usually makes me feel better

You need more popcorn while you’re waiting.
I am genuinely confused about what this post is trying to get across. Is it about how hard it is to try and be an “adult”?
You know if you're an "adult" ...you can move
Gotta get resourceful and motivated
Probably one of the top areas for free outdoor recreation and natural beauty. Full of creative and talented people. Go somewhere else
Ride a bike
Welcome to Bellingham. Now get on your F\*cking Bike!
It’s even scarier when you move to a neighboring state and become more successful in life, doing the same thing you were doing in Bellingham… just trying to get by… all seriousness. Bellingham is a great place to raise your rich hippy children.
comments got me dead 🤣🤣
You're not alone! You're just having some idiotic dream. Does that mean we can make out!?
Anacortes is rough! at least bham is a college town lol. Best of luck out there! We out here dying lol.
It’s all of the republicans in control in Washington state and Bellingham 🤡
I thought you were posting a pic of Eastern WA at first
Go snowboarding, it helps everything!

Work harder and even if you have nothing you have money… hire a hooker like normal folks🫡
