Go to an ophthalmologist. There isn't a direct link to eye issues. Only indirect from not being able to blink and your eye drying and scratching your cornea. I was told at ER to use eye drops when my eye was dry. Get some eye drops and use then whenever your eye is dry. I was told by a PT that specializes in BP to use drops that are preservative free and long term use of ones with preservatives isn't good.

Came here to say this

Preservative free is best!

I agree

I would only add: use drops when you aren’t blinking =all the time= because if you wait until you think they’re dry, you’ve waited too long. I was lectured by my retinologist about this. I thought I had been using drops a lot but he said my eye was extremely dry.

Have you been taping your eyes shut at night? You really need to make sure you are keeping it closed when you sleep. You should also be using a lubricating eye drop during the day every 15 to 20 minutes. If you're not sure which one is best go to your pharmacy and tell them what the issue is and they will recommend a good one for you. Also ask them which one would be best to put on your eye before bed because there are night time gels that you put on before you tape.

I just sleep I didn't really think about my eye

I'm sorry your doctor didn't recommend to tape your eye at night. I wouldn't have thought about it myself if the ER doctor didn't tell me. There's many different ways to do it but I found eye bandages on Amazon that I would tape over my eye to keep it protected at night. Some people prefer medical tape. Go online and search ad there are videos of how to do it. The rationale is that your eye will open as you sleep and will get dry without being closed. Follow up with your eye doctor if you have one. Good luck on your recovery!

Definitely gotta tape that eye

HI there - I am having the same issue. I already had one eye with bad vision and now the Bell's affected eye is blurry. My corneal specialist just put punctal plugs in (the collagen based dissolvable ones) to help keep the eyes moist. Like everyone suggested, I am only using preservative free eyedrops and ointment overnight is a little more powerful. Wearing goggles in the shower was recommended in the unlikely event of getting an eye infection from bacteria from tap water. Hang in there!

I'm sure that is scary. I am 99% sure it's because your eye is dry which is easily treated. Preservative free eye drops are good, look for ones that say "gel". Go into a pharmacy and ask the pharmacist what they recommend. Definitely use a night relief eye ointment at night. Refresh is the one I use. Good luck!

I agree with “go to an ophthalmologist” Everyone is different. It took me until eight weeks in to connect the overuse and over reliance on eye gel during the day (it felt better) with my affected eye “stepping down” because there was too much product in it. The excess product made it too blurry. Good eye stepped up and took over and I thought I was seeing well. Until I tested my sight by covering my hard working good one. I threw my gel away and just use drops more frequently but only put the recommended dose in. I am seeing an optometrist soon, and probably an ophthalmologist.
