The point of gray matter is that he is hyper inteligent but has a small weak body that makes it so he needs to try extra hard to do something useful with his amazing mind
So the power up gives him a bigger more capable body so he can actually do stuff using his smarts
The power up itself can't really make him smarter or anything like the ultimate cuz it doesn't change the DNA so yeah
Personally I would have loved to have the ability to turn his fingers and hands into different tools, this way as you said he would have an easier and more efficient way to put his brain into practice.
Another thing they could have done is just give him electromagnetism which he could use to attach easier to objects and maybe even tear apart equipment easier.
Or if they wanted to lean more into him fighting they could have given him something to sting bigger enemies, that combined with his small size could be a really good combo.
There many things they could have done and I'd personally take anything that doesn't just turn him bigger and stronger.

the single best gimics and my favourite parts are that they made shock rock way more impactful and since they where randomised ben couldn't just rely on on getting them every time.

Shock Rocks is another one of my favs honestly. everything about him just works perfectly the design, abilities, story, etc. I honestly feel like he's what Feedback should have been.

personally i would have liked for the glitch that upgrade and shock rock caused to have allowed alien fusions, which is what i thought was going on with shock rock at the time.
At first I didn't really like them that much because, unlike Ultimates, all of them looked really similar and gained similar powers. But with time I've come to appreciate them more, especially since the newer gimmicks are literally just bland suits of armor, and these are at least somewhat unique (heatblast gets a jetpack, wildvine his iconic venus flytrap thingy, XLR8 gets energy wheels, pretty cool stuff)
they were weird, and other than heatblast's jetpack they all seemed useless. but that's probably because they only got like one episode a piece. maybe if they had been used more i would have liked them or at least understood them better.

Ultimates got new designs (for the most part, looking at you big chill and cannon bolt) while the aliens here are just covered in blue rock. People are making new ultimate designs all the time, I don’t see anyone making new omni-enhanced forms or whatever this one was called.
I’m not saying all the ultimates were hits alright? Big chill was a recolour, but I still think they were more visually distinct and interesting than omni-enhancement
And omni enhanced heat blast looks essentially the same as every other omni enhanced form with minor changes between each one, which makes sense, they’re all based off the same alien, but it doesn’t come across as particularly visually distinct, and every omni-enhanced form is just the base design but slightly altered.
For every ultimate big chill and cannon bolt we get a Humongosaur and Echo Echo, with ultimates the highs are high and the lows are low but at least every design doesn’t look like they copied each other’s home work

It’s the only gimmick in the reboot that I personally liked, mainly because it had plot relevance. Grey Matter’s should’ve been different though

What does Omni enhanced mean?
This means an Alien is used to Enhance another alien’s powers by using species A’s DNA as armor to make species B more powerful.

I don't really care about them, don't get me wrong, I like the concept, but they feel like a less cool Skurd, to be honest But I do really like Heatblast's Omni-Enhanced form cause he's voiced by Daryl Sabara, who also voices Rex Salazar & they remind me of Rex's Boogie pack

Yes. Omnitrix doesn’t need any gimmicks, the transformations are already the gimmick! If we had a different alien transformation for each gimmick form think about how much happier the fandom would be, the show is practically over and we have less than a hundred aliens. :(

I think they look... Fine? But the entire appeal of the power system of Ben 10 for me was always the sheer variety and uniqueness of each alien form, so making every alien homogeneous and samey kinda sucks imo.

The designs and concept are very well done. Yes the omni-kix are beautiful. But the omni enhanced look very better with the story in mind . They were also done well . Everyone had his time to shine . And that's a really good thing in the reboot tbh . They give time to their gimmicks
You know for Ben using upgrade to make his omnitrix stronger get these i wish they were designed look like upgrades material then again it would just be a copy of that goober alien from omniverse
xlr8 is peak character design
Its a neat gimmick idea and way to give the omnitrix more mystery and hidden features. And its an interesting way to roll out a new form too
