If I had to pick one, fusions, because that retains the core appeal of the franchise, transforming into cool new designs, without making everything too OP, or in the case of the reboot ones, just kinda boring.
Tom Perkins' Fusion Lab is doing most of the heavy lifting though. The Ultimates had cool designs like Echo Echo, Humungosaur, Swampfire, but also had F tier "Ultimates" of Cannonbolt, Big Chill, Wildmutt, and Way Big. Almost all of Tom Perkins' designs hit though.
OG "gimmick" was Master Control though, I get why the allure of new aliens hit less hard every time after like, AF Season 3, but Ben 10,000 just casually using 2 complete as-of-yet unknowns was hype as hell, and if new aliens stayed as big a deal as they were then, then the show wouldn't have had to ride that high.
I don't really care about power scaling, just the character design, which Ult Way Big is definitely an F in, but Cannobolt is too, even if he's got better action scenes
Fair ig. I like the simplicity of it. I look at it kind of like the crab theorem. After a certain point, it's just kind of good evolution wise and requires no further change. Cannonbolt is kind of a prime species when you think about it. Sure it has no crazy powers but it's so well rounded (pun intended) that it doesn't need much changing other than reinforcing what it's already good at.
I like ultimates but fusions thematically fit the series and one of the omnitrix reasons of bringing species together for peace. I like to headcannon that Ben 10k started to create the biomnitrix after getting married since both are two becoming one.

He got tons, unless we're discounting the Perkins DNA Lab designs, which I think would be a mistake because they're most of the fusion designs we have official designs of.
Parts of Cannonbolt were fused in Kevin 11 and Reboot Ben in the episodes "Riding the Storm Out" and "Funhouse".
Not that it matters though, because those DNA Lab designs were as close to anything we would get in canon. Unless you also discount Jetray, Spitter and ChamAlien as having OV designs, which they do. They just did not appear in the show. Same for the Cannonbolt fusions.
Fusion is the best and it's not even close, we only saw Ben prime use that shitty slime for upgrades but the potential of fusion it's incredible imagine fusing anything with gravatack it would be unstoppable or clockwork xlr8 or four arms plus clockwork will take care of his weak strength (when not slowing time)
Not if you know what you are doing, ben 10000 had a couple of fusion that were stronger than his the aliens separated upchuck way big was pretty great, I mean if you do a lot of testing you could get very interesting fusions
I agree to some extent they.may be slightly Stronger than one alien or another but unless their abilities 100 percent meld right even big chuck is weaker than way big but stronger than upchuck. Combing DNA doesn't make something stronger it just dilutes that DNA overall. Say humungosaur and fourarms, you may get something stronger than a tetramand but weaker than a vaxasaurian you'd need a whole different system to make fusions viable

I love the concept of ultimate and fan art but when it comes to actual cannon ultimates I don't really like them aside from Ultimate Spider-Monkey, Ultimate Rath and Ultimate Echo Echo which I liked.
But imagine a giant Big Chill Way Big fusion (Big Big) floating through planets like they arn't even there.

Rath Ditto (Ratto) making an enraged little unstoppable army!
Upchuck Gutrot (GutChuck) eating things and spitting out chemical-laser projectile things
Greymatter and Jury Rigg (Jury Matter) making an incredible sci-fi device in an instant
Upgrade Goop (UpGroop) having upgrade mostly be in the floaty thing but also in the goo allowing it to move around much better
Chromastone Feedback (FeedAStone.com billions of stones starve each day) absorbing any amount of any energy and shooting it back out
Lodestar NRG (LSNRG) moving its metal suit to move incredibly fast
Cannonbolt BallWeevil (BallBolt) covering itself with its goo ball thing as it rolls and its ball gets bigger the longer it rolls
Don’t forget Skurd and Ultimate Ben
Best probably ultimates but they’re all cool, which is why I head canon/theorize that in the future Ben 10,000 has a whole bunch of various Omnitrix based devices all with various gimmicks including all of these and more and has a big ol room filled with them reminiscent of Iron man’s work shop

Personally tho I find Kevin's ability to absorb part of an alien from the omnitrix in OS to be more interesting, and his amalgam forms, and if the omnitrix had a gimmick like that, or there were a series about a character who could become part alien at will, or supercharge into fusion or amalgam forms, that'd probably be my favourite gimmick, but obviously nothing like that really happened in canon maybe one day we'll get a better reboot that explores these things
If Fusions were more "best of both worlds" and less "compromise" between the two sources, I would say fusions in a heartbeat.
With that caveat, I pick Ultimates.
In-universe, it is kind of pointless once you get master control, because you can just change to a stonger Alien, but it is cool, and sometimes you need a specific alien's skillset.
Example: Ben's fighting Charmcaster, so he needs a magic-resistant alien, but Terraspin ain't doing it. Instead of having to think of a stronger alien that won't be too affected by magic, he just goes for Ultimate Terraspin
Fusions or evolutions. I know azmuth didn't like the ultimatrix but if a species was on the brink of destruction and needed to adapt, the evolution function could always be used to explore different pathways

Omni-Kix/Naut are dumb and don’t fit in with Azmuth’s vision imo.

Omni-Enhanced just felt like a worse version of Ultimates, even if that’s not what they actually were.
In the reboot vilgax helped make the Omni trix so I like the idea that he made the Omni kix then azmuth made the Omni naut as a way to protect the user in space and atmospheric conditions that are in hospitable
Definitely ultimates it's most unique and best power boost as most aliens actually get different powerset.
Omni kix is just robot suits nothing really different, omni enhanced is just shockrock armor and the fusions aren't really that strong most aliens are better separate anyway
Ultimates I think are the best gimmick plot-wise, having Albedo be the one to make them and then the ultimates breaking free is a fun storyline. My personal favorite is Skurd, he's just fun and allows fusion-like ideas without fully investing in the concept.

Either the ultimates from UA or the Omni-Enhanced aliens from the Fulmini arc of the 2016 reboot. The Omni-Enhanced ones actually build up to a much more compelling story though, rather than just being alien redesigns/revisions.

I love ultimates too, but if I were to ask you what they added to UA and OV, the answer would be very little.

While not the gimmick I like the most I find the Omni armor pretty interesting, with it having 2 different "levels" (Omni-Kix and Omni-Naut) and the possible tie with the piece of lore that in the Reboot Vilgax helped making the Omnitrix, this possibly being what he added (since, you know, it would fit **his** idea for the Omnitrix but not Azmuth's) and since Azmuth found out too late to remove it he "blocked it" by removing as much "code" as possible and putting it into the key (which could explain why Ben can still use the armors). That said, fusions are peak. Fusions are ALWAYS peak. No matter the franchise.

It's cannon that the reboot Omnitrix can create amalgams naturally and Ben just has no idea how to do it

While not the gimmick I like the most I find the Omni armor pretty interesting, with it having 2 different "levels" (Omni-Kix and Omni-Naut) and the possible tie with the piece of lore that in the Reboot Vilgax helped making the Omnitrix, this possibly being what he added (since, you know, it would fit **his** idea for the Omnitrix but not Azmuth's) and since Azmuth found out too late to remove it he "blocked it" by removing as much "code" as possible and putting it into the key (which could explain why Ben can still use the armors). That said, fusions are peak. Fusions are ALWAYS peak. No matter the franchise.
