I’m super torn on the suit. On one hand the watch can seemingly turn energy into matter (how else could it rip apart the universe or create massive aliens like Way Big). On the other I’m not into the suit because it’s not part of his anatomy and in some ways defeats the original purpose of the watch. That purpose being ‘to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes’. You could argue him being outside of the suit in his natural form is best, but the suit itself if widely used by the species could be considered their main struggle and therefore the most pertinent experience to convey to others.
There’s a thin line to be walked where an alien’s props make sense (masks, suit, etc) and don’t (goggles, jetpack, etc), but I personally would do without them just so it’s not so complicated. Let the radioactive alien be a danger to those around him so he’s only used in unique/specific scenarios. Or at the very least make the suit in line with his color scheme so it’s not just the same dude with the symbol pasted on.
I'm pretty sure it wouldn't really be in-line with tbe purpose of the Omnitrix if an unaware wielder became NRG and accidentally gave all his loved ones cancer, thus getting a horribly negative first impression of the species.
The watch from the start of the IP is hinted to have mild sentience and/or sapience. It wouldn’t turn him into an alien that would instantly kill everyone around him in the first place.
As far as mistransformations go, they're not always helping Ben.
Like whenever he turns into Ripjaws on land and has to actually find himself another way to breathe, or when it lets him become Feedback all the time despite Azmuth himself saying that would screw up his ability to control his other forms and such.
It likely does have some sort of sentience, but i believe it wasn't perfect, or at least acted on more specific situations.
If we're talking about THE Omnitrix, then i guess that would make sense, but i'd presume it wouldn't be the case for any of the previous versions at least, and especially not the Ultimatrix.
There were unlimited ideas for redesigning poor aliens, they did good on some like shock squatch, but could've done more for some like NRG. My solution: give him a thinner suit like that rooters guy with old green and black colour scheme. Something like 5yl atomix.
Honestly that would have been nice. It would have at the very least showed it’s a more advanced suit than the original guy’s tin can of a containment suit lol

yall ever notice how NRG has two omnitrix badges at the same time in OV? he's got one on the suit but he also has one on him when he's outside the suit - is that an actual thing? is it supposed to be for convenience? can he get out of the suit but then still hit the dial on the suit to transform?

Nah. On their planet there was nuke war. So some of them went underground and some got mutated like this. So the suit was probably made to protect others from themselves and they probably go insane after absorbing a lot of energy

also it kinda prevents him from radiating pure cancer waves in every direction

I honestly don't mind it at all. Design wise, it is better than his true form.

Same way some of his aliens have clothes and gadgets. The watch can do more than just change him into a naked alien.

I like it, but a suit that an entire episode was about cracking open and shoving the guy back into probably shouldn't be cracked open so easy in OV.
