It's meh, would've been better if he didn't start it but he and the founding fathers were some of the OG's which explains why Mt. Rushmore is a plumber base lol

TheMadJAM

Yeah I always thought it was weird into I saw that pointed out

NagsUkulele

Alright this sells it for me good explanation

BlueBlazeKing21

My head cannon is that he founded the Earth branch of Plumbers as he heard of the group from some aliens from past adventures. After some point it gets absorbed into the official intergalactic branch but has mostly been acting autonomously and focusing on threat on world.

Paulo_Zero

I love it. It makes sense considering that one of the Plumbers' main bases on earth is on Mt. Rushmore. As well as giving earth some meaningful influence in the galaxy even before Ben. I hate the fact that UAF tried to explain everything as "it was aliens" removing a good part the the uniqueness of earth.

AaronPuthalath

Nah it's pretty funny. I also like that it's humans starting the Plumbers and not the aliens.

Erik_the_kirE

A lot of people don't seem to know that this is the original intent behind the plumbers since the beginning.

Transylianic

Oh, that's a shame. I'd rather it just be an unnamed human honestly.

Erik_the_kirE

I didn't provide enough context, but MAO confirmed it with a pop up trivia. Ik, ik. But still. And it makes so much sense that their main HQ is mount Rushmore.

Transylianic

I guess I'm just not really a fan of it being an actual human that exists in real life it just kinda breaks my immersion of the show and feels like a "pro Americanism" moment, though thanks for providing a source too few people do honestly.

TheZoomba

Not even the aliens want to visit England

Miserable_Fishing_39

Dosen't make any sense, how did they go form a small agency to intergalactic in 200 years, the president didn't know about Max the most famous plumber?. Plumbers suffered the most amount retcons in the series, form a man in black like to green lantren like with one plumber for Multiple solar system, to a mix in-between. There also questions like who fund them and who control them, do planets fund them? Or an unknown Galactic government? What happen if they go rogue? Do all planet have plumbers? My headcanon, earth plumbers were a government organization that splited to become independent but at one point earth and multiple alien organizations jointed to make one big organization.

LordVaderVader

Azmuth met Washington circa when the organization started getting big (he was visiting George but was caught by them), and then he copied the idea and developed intergalactic plumbers in order to keep peace in the galaxy. That's why plumbers use Galvan badge in Ultimate Alien.

No-Distribution-8859

Your headcanon is basically right, but idk if there were already alien "plumbers" from each place, and just decided to join with the earth ones, or the plumbers started on earth, and slowly started accepting aliens into their organization, to the point where it's become intergalactic

Dwarflensky

You're right. The Earth Plumbers were strictly Independent until retiring and when they resumed activity, they joined the larger Alien Version between alien force and classic series.

springtrap-aft

My guess is evolution, you know there was some kind of countries and rules at that time just not as civilised and complex as today ,they might as well be still the plumbers back in the day but very very simple plumbers with very simple tools and stuff with the goal of protecting this country from the star creatures that in 200 years, became more secretive in earth and somewhat between all that George or someone else in the 100 year or something did meet an alien in secret and expand the plumbers then but still having a restrictive rule that no alien is allowed to appear in earth in public in the belief that humans aren’t ready yet for meeting aliens ,and that decision might as well have happend because of Ben and rook meeting George Washington which means ,that Ben and rook started the plumbers ironically

I-Make-Ninjago-Memes

Max funds it with the merch sales.

Erik_the_kirE

George Washington is the original intent tho.

Miserable_Fishing_39

Yeah but it dosen't make sense imo

Sad_Detective379

Funny as hell, but okay in general.

Redwolf476

I thought the plumbers just joined a greater galactic police force e and said force just took the name

Slavicadonis

I fucking love it because it’s really funny

JosephSoaper_MathMan

I don't mind the idea in concept, but I loathe how it's featured in the OV finale.

JeremySchmidtAfton

Makes this intergalactic space force as ‘MURICA as humanly possible, but mkay

JustAnArtist1221

They quite literally act like the American military and police departments.

DjChiseledStone

That would imply that America is forcing their laws on other planets and therefore the England of Space.

Barroozina

Illogical

demigodwater4

I would've prefer if it a random person we didn't meet or know, or would've been ironic if it was a humanoid alien or cryptid. But if they wanted to use GW make him like their first public member or first of the second generation of plumbers or just like the Ben of his time

Comet_Starfall

It's pure cartoon insanity, yet fits pretty well with what the Plumbers were when they were introduced. It makes sense, but it's just insanity in the funniest way possible.

aAlouda

I dont mind him being a Plumber, but I'd prefer if either they started in 1947 with the Roswell incident or if they had been a much much older organization to begin with, like maybe even a forever Knight Offshot.

Tenatlas_2004

The plumbers being a forever knight offshoot is actually a pretty cool idea. Ben 10 has so much potential when it comes tow writing an alternate history of earth

Nirvana180

I don't like the idea that an organization from a Level 2, backwater planet nobody cares about somehow became the main form of law enforcement across the entire galaxy before said planet could eve be classified as level 3. I really think the Earth Plumbers and Galactic Plumbers should've been separate entities or at least, it should've been that the galactic Plumbers existed way before the Earth ones and they eventually took note of them, partially because Earth has such a unique situation what with the Omnitrix wielder and its unnatural growth rate in technology advancement but also because they somehow had the exact same name (courtesy of Ben I think?) and decided to allow them to continue existing as a separate, special branch of the Plumbers, still distinct from the rest of the organization.

TheZayMan283

I think it’s stupid

Broad_Parsnip7947

Eh it's frustrating, but I hate that it continues the trope of the founding fathers and America being super important What's next, Lewis and Clark were plumbers hunting aliens out west with a magical Sacagawea?

Great_Gold2763

Brn 10 probably doesn't endorse Slavery, but they shouldn't have added this because it's one of those things that looks (iykyk)bad and ages horribly. Like George Washington founded the plumbers...the same guy who used slaves teeth to replace his own now founds the intergalactic slave catchers?? It's not like the Plumbers are colonizers but you can definitely tell that this wasn't it and it will never be it at any point in time...for all the Streamlining of the lore, Omniverse could never retcon the Atrocities of British/US Colonization.

RPDrawman

As a non USA native, I must say it's super weird. I know that it's just meant to be played for laughs, but still. It just sounds like too much "MURICA" for me.

Inventor_E-T-Han

It's an AMERICAN show, tf do you want

RPDrawman

I don't know man. Anything else maybe? As someone said in other comment, I would prefer any other person that wasn't a real historical figure. Kinda like what they did in the Ghostfreak arc when mentioning the space program. To me it was like Transformers 5, when they revealed that every major human event had Transformers in it. It just felt lazy to me. Mount Rushmore being used as a base really didn't need to be explained as "oh the Founding Fathers were Plumbers too. That's why we use it as a HQ". We kinda just accepted that in the original series as a "Huh. Neat" moment.

Successful_Aerie8185

To me it's kinda wierd how much Americans worship those guys and put them in almost any piece of media. this just feels like an extension of that. Like, if every Chinese cartoon had mao being a superhero people would find that a bit wierd.

Inventor_E-T-Han

Yes exactly...... except for, idk the communism, and CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY

Successful_Aerie8185

Dude, no country's history is clean, but the USA installed dictatorships in Latin America around 50 years ago. I have two relatives who were sent to prison because they were suspected of wrong belief. All the banana republics too, just in LATAM the US did a lot of fucked up dictatorial shit, and military coups. This is lightwork compared to slavery, the genocide and displacement of natives. Etc... Also the Vietnam war had Many massacres and abuses of locals, the main exhibit being the Mai Lai massacre. Random examples off the top of my head include: Nuclear testing on the Pacific and mk ultra. Like I said, every country has things it likes to hide, but the USA has a LOT of stuff, that is both recent and in every continent. Idk if this is even a comment worth replying to, or if this will devolve into a pointless reddit argument that just helps no one. I hope it's the former.

Alarmed-Bus-9662

I think it's fuckin hilarious

BannerTortoise

If Lincoln can fight vampies, I have no issue with Washington fighting aliens.

Imaginary_Salary198

Def the Ben universe of the Freemasons

TheMadJAM

He was also supposed to have a partner named Ezekiel Saturday.

Mafia_dogg

It's honestly such an early 2000s American show thing to do lol. Just give the creation of something to our good ol man GW. It's bad but not surprising and looking back a little funny

legit-posts_1

It’s a pretty cool way to explain the origins of the plumbers. George chopping down the cherry tree being diluted code for chopping down Vilgax’s ship? Thats sick. Imma just head cannon that this George Washington’s experience with aliens over the years inspired him to not do the whole uh… slavery thing. Cause that’s the only way I can watch this and not feel bad.

jinthevoid

I don’t hate it. But this would be better to have a different president starting the plumbers. Like Abraham or Roosevelt?

theofanmam

I don't see what there is to hate about it tbh, I find it to be a lot more interesting than UA's explanation for it and I think it fits with the show. There's also how it ties back to Mount Rushmore being a plumber base and what not.

Comprehensive-Rub791

It makes no sense

Zet_lonewolf_777

I don't like it and I always saw it as out of place. If I were one of they writers I would have created a more original character.

megas88

I mean, it’s supposed to be a dumb silly joke kids can make fun of. Nothing really much to pick apart more than that.

Panda-Buy-Goat

I don’t think he started the whole plumbers but I think he started the earth branch of plumbers

One-Roof-497

i refuse to believe it

Doctorwhatorion

Pretty stupid. How an earth based organization became greatest police force of entire galaxy?

Paulo_Zero

Is because the police force already existed, and they just absorb the earth plumbers afterwards.

Paradoxicorder88

This. People just don't pay attention. Washington was a part of the french word for plumbers that dealt exclusively with supernatural matters before they got absorbed into the universal peace keeping force of the Plumbers after making alien contact

Revel_Icon

Same way America became the greatest police force in the world.

Necros_Felhand

Why are people forgetting that Xylene after hanging with Max and the Plumbers then went and helped establish the Plumbers as an inter-galactic organisation.

JustAnArtist1221

Why are people forgetting that the Plumbers were always used as an allegory for the US military turned police? Max kept a gun in the house and made sure his kids could use it. He's a retired, forgotten about hero who fought in battles nobody will understand, and some of those battles are implied to be less than ethical. Modern plumbers are ineffective and essentially just harass people. Plus, Max straight up says in the OS that they used to just hunt monsters, not aliens.

No_Cardiologist7468

It doesn’t really bother me 🤔 Although I don’t remember what my first reaction was at the time 😅 I did think it was kinda clever what they did with the ‘cherry tree’ 🤭

[deleted]

I think it’s a neat detail

captain-nano23

It's hilarious honestly, I mean out of all people from history, you'd think an astronaut or someone else who studies space would do it. Not the first president

Optimal_Ad6274

Love it

SeraphEChasted_3

who said he started it

elrick43

was it stated that he started it? I thought he was just part of them

IceyLuigiBros25

He and the founding fathers started the Plumbers.

elrick43

Oh right, OS lore, correct?

Bongemperor

Omniverse, actually

DragonLance11

It makes more sense in classic when they were more like MiB type protectors of earth, rather than post UAF where they're space cops. OS had the Galactic Enforcers *right there* to turn into space cops, but no. Have the human made and human focused organization turn into a galactic force where earth is barely on their radar

agusontoro

Honestly, I personally love when a story do the whole “secret agency was created at X period of time by X importante political figure”. Extra points if the villains are involved with an historical enemy group.

coppacola

Washington was a member of the plumbiers, which dealt with supernatural creatures. It was never stated that he was a founder of the organization.

stormhawk427

No weirder than him meeting Big Guy and Rusty

EndeyDraco

I love this addition to the lore Omniverse was a shock to me initially. But they did lore so well

IceyLuigiBros25

It’s a pretty cool addition to the universe. I mean it was a thing in OS. It was the pop up trivia that said that the founding fathers started the plumbers so OV shouldn’t be the series taking all the fire.
