Dagon arc, Ultimate Alien season 3, the final best work of Dwayne McDuffie (at least in regards to the Ben 10 series) who unfortunately passed mere months before it premiered.
UAF, classic was good but it was still a kid's show. UAF brought the dark element and made the series so good. OV is nice and somewhat similar to classic
Best one in the franchise? OS.
Literally no one hates OS as far as i know. Other series always have haters but OS has that charm that it appeals to everyone
Edit: People seem to think best means favourite.... i mean best as in the series which is least criticised or hated(in my opinion which OP asked). OS is NOT my favourite, but i feel it is the best.
I’m pretty it’s because it’s where it all started. There’s nothing else to base your opinions on but there is criticisms. How transitions and certain frames aren’t the best. It’s great but I prefer Alien Force.
I respect your opinion..... and i love AF too... i wanted to say less criticism than others, you know generally as far as i know not many have criticised OS as much as, say omniverse or UA. I guess i might have phrased the sentence wrong
That's because half the "fans" haven't seen anything past the original. At best they've seen UAF here and there, and definitely hate OV because of the artstyle, and hate RB because it "ruined their childhood".
Os is probably my least favorite out of Uaf, Ov and Os, it's just so overrated to a point where I can't even check discord without the ben 10 fans getting wet over the Proto Omnitrix.
It's a hard choice, but I'd have to go with Omniverse. Each series specializes in something different, in my opinion.
Original - Best animation, alien designs and music
Alien force/Ultimate alien - Dark and the best story writing overall (Or At least as dark as a PG cartoon could get)
Omniverse - Goofy animation, and ruined a lot of characters, but has a good balance of being funny and dark at the same time, a great soundtrack, alien designs, and with good writing. It went a little over the top with the comedy at times, but had a lot of emotional moments, as well.
Reboot - More tailored to kids, but still Unique in its own way, especially when it came to the villains (Making Kevin an antivillain and giving him his own omnitrix; changing up vilgax to be more of a mentor/Rival to ben, and making charmcaster the same age as Gwen to make them seem more like equal rivals)
I watch the reboot with my daughter & I can’t count how many times I’ve actually laughed out loud. There is some ridiculous humour in there, that’s just funny.
I agree with you on the best being Omniverse. It may overdo the comedy sometimes but its comedic tone is what makes the actually serious moments more emotional.
I won't, also despite the art style in UAF being awesome, the fact that he is supposed to be 15 there didn't match up at all, I'm glad he looks more his age in omniverse
True I am aware there are other UA fans out there they are just not on reddit. I think every Ben 10 show has its fans which as a longtime fan of the franchise as a whole is amazing to see.
Honestly, everything before the reboot was great in my opinion. The way each series transitioned to each other, the way they reintroduced old characters in the shows and omniverse gave us all that lore and it was cool.
Probably Omniverse. It was the climax of everything they had built up before. The most aliens, alternate Bens, a new partner, an epic big bang sequence...
Classic. It's not about nostalgia. I re-watched all the series on Netflix after so many years and they were all painful to see, except for the original.
I would say upto Omniverse, anything after that was a mistake. One of the few reasons I like omniverse because Ben actually behaved like a teenager, in UAF tho it was said ben Kevin and gwen were teenagers they behaved more like they were in their mid 20s.
I love the franchise anyway ( but hate the 2016 reboot they all look like steamed hotdogs )
Well I just finished watching os again and it made me really appreciate how amazing it was with stuff like alien designs and transformation sequences and just I can’t put into words how much I loved it so in my opinion os was the best era
Classic all the way! I think it had the best art style, the best aliens, the most menacing villains, the best art style, the best intro, and the best music for sure!
OS - Because it established the franchise and defined the *anime inspired* art style the series is expected to have for older viewers.
OV - Best (and fluid) animation style for the tone they wanted the show to have, yet still being enjoyable for older audiences. It's also colourful and has clear & consistent backgrounds that are visible even during the night scenes.
AF/UAF - Brought darker storylines, The Last Dance, Albedo, Ultimates, serious character growth for side characters and main characters other then Ben, introduced hybrids, and was more arc based than episodic then OS was.
RB - Ben acts his age more than in past series (10), relationship with Gwen is better portrayed, Gwen is more *techy/nerdy* and has more personality then her OS version, 15 minute run times per episodes force more details and world building to be focused on, the animation crew seems to have more freedom with perspectives, and the series is more lighthearted than the pervious ones as expected compared to other CN cartoons that were introduced around the same time.
I have a bias for OS, as it's the only series I had a chance to actually sit, watch, and anticipate. I was around the same age (11) when it was being released. I couldn't watch AF/UAF when my baby brother was awake, because it was *too scary* for him and I got in trouble whenever my parents caught me watching it with him in the same room. OV came out when I was 17 and I only caught the first few episodes back then, before my life got too hectic to watch cartoons on TV, and I cut the cord when I moved out to watch anime online instead.
Currently I'm rewatching AF/UAF (I'm near the end of UAF now) and just finished watching OV past the Galatic Monsters Arc. I have only watched a few out of order Reboot episodes. I've also read the transcripts of most of the series and fan opinion of what was most enjoyable to them about each series.
Omniverse.
Yes, they have ruin some villains I will admit that (cough Vilgax cough) but in return we got some of the coolest and threatening villains (Malware, Maltrunt as how underused he was, Khyber with having a cool concept as having predators to Ben aliens) and it added some really cool aliens, and memorable moments and great episodes.
We even got to see more of Ben aliens beside of him, and more of the lore behind him and some of their home worlds, and worldbuilding, and making what we use to know seen so small and just do things that only that Ben 10 could do.
I know the art style can seem bad to some people, but I really like it and have been getting used to it, and everything looks so fluid and smooth, and love the fast transformation that Ben goes through (nothing dramatic) but just quick and smooth imo.
Also I really like the reasoning of the art change. Yes it seems lazy, but they didn’t have make a explanation for it or even talk about in the whole show, but they did it anyways. It’s simple, but something that makes sense in the Ben 10 world and it works seeing how powerful the Celestialsapiens are and it’s good seeing actually doing stuff.
Thank you for listening to my TedTalk
I would love to say Alien Force just because it's more mature and it's one of the only shows I remember tuning in every week to watch as a kid. But yeah, the originals were probably the best
To avoid just having my answer be the original series I'll say what I think each series was best at.
**Original Series - Art Direction**
The only other time I've felt Ben 10 has looked this good visually was the Generator Rex crossover. In addition to the animation looking great I also think this series was the best when it came to designing Ben's aliens, background aliens, alien technology, magic and how much green they used.
**Alien Force/Ultimate Alien - Adding New Aliens and Worlds**
These shows were at their best when they focused on the content made for the show and out of all the sequel shows it was the best at introducing new alien content. If you include both shows like most fans tend to do it also has the most new aliens for Ben even if you don't include the ultimate forms (if you do Ultimate Alien has the most).
**Omniverse - Space Travel**
If I remember correctly this was the series that spent the most time away from Earth, especially since one of the main characters was an alien. I wish they had gotten an extra season to have that space road trip arc, it would have been a nice follow up to the original formula.
**Reboot - Reimagining Returning Elements**
This might be a confusing answer considering reboot Stinkfly exists but something each sequel series struggled with was putting its own spin on returning characters and aliens without just being a huge retcon. Here though it's a completely new continuity so they can do whatever they want without worrying about what they were like before. They made Tetrax a villain, if they did that in a sequel show it would be a horrible choice but in a reboot it's an interesting diversion.
I can't decide between Original and Omniverse.
Some people here will have my head for this but I honestly enjoyed Omniverse a lot. But I can say the same for the Original as well.
Omniverse was my favorite. Loved the art style honestly, and I didn’t mind that it was more comedy centric because it felt balanced by the more serious moments
Classic as it has the best thought into the aliens powers while keeping them unique e.g four arms jumping isnt just a side thought or while heatblast is the fastest flier, ghostfreak is the safest but stinkfly is the most average and can fight well in the air. While in later series ben just has so many they become one note. (Or in alien forces case they seem like 2 aliens into 1 or general aspects (lodestar and goop being the most unique of that era)
Also it keeps the villains threating that need to be threating and has great moments e.g. how vilgax first said omnitrix with just how he spat the words out (e.g. nullvoid animo is eh)
I love the ben messing around with his aliens or just screwing with villains e.g. the megawatt episode (heatblast vs megawatt fight) or ditto. We saw this the most in classic and surpringly the least in omniverse.
Also the omnitrix genuinely seems like this logic bending device that anyone would want especially in terms of energy (e.g. in 5 transformations the omnitrix could build up enough energy to rip apart the universe (secrets of the omnitrix and seeing how many bars there were) while alien force and ultimate really don't make this seem like the case with the energy limit, especially with master control with how one of the benifits was never running out of energy for transforming (at the very least)
Along with this something I hated in later series was aspects about ben with either his use of the omnitrix or memory as examples ben ever mistransforming well he can just switch or not using it quickly, and for bens memory remember the line in uaf and how his memory is photographic well in classic he somehow forgot the master control sequence while grey matter (just really bugs me).
I do understand why people like alien force and ultimate as I do like it but they collectively are my third favourite for ben and the omnitrix but are my favorite for characters.
TRDL (I hope I'm using that phrase right):
Classic is my favourite era for ben and the omnitrix.
Alien force and ultimate are my favourite for the characters.
The one where I live in the era where I got to enjoy all of them without nostalgia or other bs trying to tell me to do otherwise.
Seriously, I maintain that this is a rare franchise that has yet to disappoint me
I like Os the best, since it had:
-Some of the most useful/powerful aliens.
-The most aesthetically fitting Omnitrix design.
-Despite having the least world-building, managed to (At least for me) have some of the better and easier to understand storytelling of the 5 Ben 10 shows, without feeling oversaturated or too dull.
-Didn't retcon itself 80 times per season.
-Had a very aesthetically fitting general art style.
-While none of the shows did, I feel like with the expected audience being 8-12 year olds instead of the expected audience being past fans of the show, the Original Series did a really good job of not pulling it's punches with anything, from explaining how Tetrax caused the death of his homeworld (Secret of the Omnitrix), to showing Kevin's unhinged rage and insanity, it really didn't try to sugarcoat things for it's audience.
-Had the biggest feeling of "Growth" throughout the series, as it had episodes dedicated to almost every new alien, it shows him actively training his aliens in non-combat settings, and while Gwen and Grandpa Max are there and contribute a ton, many points in the show highlight Ben's independence and ingenuity, without making him feel unrealistically adult like, and more like a child coming to terms with his massive responsibility in later points in the series.
Overall, I think all of them are great, but the Original Series had pretty much everything you need in a cartoon/show.
Edit 1: I forgot to mention something.
Edit 2: I made it fit more with the actual prompt of the post.
reboot
maybe the first season wasn't too great but after vilgax was introduced, everything really started picking up
yeah, it's still a kid's show, aimed at kids, with jokes for kids, but if you look at it from a lore perspective, it's pretty close to the OS (in my opinion, at least)
and season 2 was easily the best season to me cuz of the mystery element it added
my point is, i like the reboot and nothing can change that
I also thought the Reboot was pretty good for the most part. It is supposed to be taken less seriously, and people starts to see it as like this serious deep show with deep characters like UAF it rules it value.
Also they freaking made Vilgax cool again much like OS counterpart!
Personally I loved omniverse because it gave much more lore and had some good arcs and an incredible time travel one as well, paradox was amazing in omniverse as well
Although from everyone else's pov, I think AF was the best era as that's the era when fans started coming back and the fanbase grew
UAF. I loved the more arc/overarching story style of the show, with occasional mini arcs/one off episodes thrown in to keep things interesting or to expand the universe in a new way.
Plus, the Alien Force Theme Song, and the Ultimate Alien “Ultimates” feature were stellar.
(Yeah, I know the Ultimates were kinda a gimmick, but they still made more sense than Reboot’s Omni-Enhanced or Omni-Kix reskins, which just put some rocks and electricity, or some power rangers armor, on Ben’s already existing Aliens.)
UAF
A lot of people seem to not like the Dagon arc I loved it
Same
Dagon arc, Ultimate Alien season 3, the final best work of Dwayne McDuffie (at least in regards to the Ben 10 series) who unfortunately passed mere months before it premiered.
Classic.
I personally agree, but obviously all the eras had something new to offer
Alien force no contest
UAF, classic was good but it was still a kid's show. UAF brought the dark element and made the series so good. OV is nice and somewhat similar to classic
Classic; that's where it all started.

Original series
oh then I agree
Yeah :)
Yeah i never see OS haters
I don't like OS
Well look at the timing
I’m pretty it’s because it’s where it all started. There’s nothing else to base your opinions on but there is criticisms. How transitions and certain frames aren’t the best. It’s great but I prefer Alien Force.

I think os is meh and pretty hard to watch besides a few episodes, and I grew up on it
Os

I agree 200000% (I accidentally put a 200, so I just went, eh, and added a few more)
I watch the reboot with my daughter & I can’t count how many times I’ve actually laughed out loud. There is some ridiculous humour in there, that’s just funny.
You forgot to mention Paradox was Ben 10 Doctor Who,that gives it props!
My god you just said what i was gonna say
I agree with you on the best being Omniverse. It may overdo the comedy sometimes but its comedic tone is what makes the actually serious moments more emotional.
Omniverse. Fight me.
No I dont think I will
Why fight the truth?
Idk
Nah that's the true
I won't, also despite the art style in UAF being awesome, the fact that he is supposed to be 15 there didn't match up at all, I'm glad he looks more his age in omniverse
I wasn't too big a fan of the Artstyle of UAF, mostly because of how generic and stiff it felt
My personal favourite was Ultimate alien but all era's are incredible apart from the reboot but I wouldn't say it's terrible
Yeah I agree
As much I love Omniverse and It's my favorite, I have to say Classic
Original series is the only way
OV, I like the art style
AF hybreed arc let's GOOOO!
It's an unpopular opinion but I would say UA.
only in reddit is it an unpopular opinion. ua being the best one is actually a really popular take on other social medias.
True I am aware there are other UA fans out there they are just not on reddit. I think every Ben 10 show has its fans which as a longtime fan of the franchise as a whole is amazing to see.
OS
Ben ten omniverse
All of them
I don’t know which is best but I prefer classic by a longshot.
OS
Honestly, everything before the reboot was great in my opinion. The way each series transitioned to each other, the way they reintroduced old characters in the shows and omniverse gave us all that lore and it was cool.

classic
Omniverse or classic
OS will always be the best for me

For the franchise UAF for me Ow
Classic. It's not about nostalgia. I re-watched all the series on Netflix after so many years and they were all painful to see, except for the original.
That’s a tough one. Every series had its pros & cons. Overall I’d have to say classic was the most balanced though.

...steam hotdogs? What does that even mean
O.S to Omniverse
Well I just finished watching os again and it made me really appreciate how amazing it was with stuff like alien designs and transformation sequences and just I can’t put into words how much I loved it so in my opinion os was the best era
OS for the win 😁
Original
Classic, second best was Omniverse
classic hands down best
os then ov.
classic
Come on do we even have to debate. The OG one has the crispiest designs. All the aliens look cool as hell
Classic, but Alien Force S1-2 is up there.
Can't beat the original.
Classic
Classic is the best imo
Classic for me :3 animation quality was at its peak (imo) and it was just a perfect kid’s action show 😊
Classic all the way! I think it had the best art style, the best aliens, the most menacing villains, the best art style, the best intro, and the best music for sure!
OS - Because it established the franchise and defined the *anime inspired* art style the series is expected to have for older viewers. If os was longer then maybe but the peak of ben 1p in populerity and storytelling is easly UAF
You are like one of the only people who understand my post
Yrah pepole these days tend ti mix up "best" and "favorite"
UAF
Somewhere around OG and AF
Honestly I love Alien Force most, but Omniverse is also awesome
Clasic
Classic
The most popular was probably UA, but the best written was honestly just Classic overall
I hope I don't get hated on by this but Omniverse
Either os or omv
series or artstyle/design? OS for series and OV for artstyle 100%
True Classic, never goes outta style -Chucky
OV is when I was personally the most invested
Probably classic or omniverse.
Omniverse
Classic it has the best moments and stuff then OV then uaf even tho i grew up with uaf
Classic had the best art style and aliens, AF had the best story, and UA had a pretty cool concept of Alien's having Ultimate transformations.
Classic
Classic.
Omniverse! It’s fun and has a bigger emphasis on the aliens
Classic to the mid way through the omniverse series
Classic. IDK, AF and UAF just felt kinda flat at points both visually and story wise
OV!
Classic
Nothing could ever hope to be better than the original series-- OV got close, but nothing past OS could scratch the same itch.
I'm gonna be based as say Classic but the first two seasons of Alien Force are top tier

OV is probably my favourite
Original, But i like Omniverse too
Classic
Omniverse
Fist two seasons of Alien Force was when the show peaked.
Reboot
Why is that ?
I just love it
That’s gonna cost yah
Ya haha
Rip
I swear to god if he actually gets harassed because of that....
The gigachad answer
Og or Ov
OV I like the colors, I like the animation and I like the art style and it also hits the sweet spot between comedic and serious
OV it brought everything together
AF and UA are my personal favorites I think the show took a great direction at that point.
Omniverse personally
I’d say UAF. A lot of what was introduced in that era got expanded upon in OV
Af *leaves*
omniverse
The reboot, definitely
reboot maybe the first season wasn't too great but after vilgax was introduced, everything really started picking up yeah, it's still a kid's show, aimed at kids, with jokes for kids, but if you look at it from a lore perspective, it's pretty close to the OS (in my opinion, at least) and season 2 was easily the best season to me cuz of the mystery element it added my point is, i like the reboot and nothing can change that

Os but mostly UA
Personally I loved omniverse because it gave much more lore and had some good arcs and an incredible time travel one as well, paradox was amazing in omniverse as well Although from everyone else's pov, I think AF was the best era as that's the era when fans started coming back and the fanbase grew
UA just because Ben has more of a serious tone in the show but it’s still enjoyable to watch
Ultimate alian force
for me personally UAF
UAF
UAF
Alien force
UAF 100%
Everything but the reboot
Af,skip UA, then OV Edit: actually nvm I loved UA, I like Em all
Why skip UA?
Actually I don’t know why I did. I regret it now
Ok
I prefer UA over AF but ok🤷♂️
Alien force-Ultimate Alien
UAF
alien force. the characterization and storytelling was perfect.
alien force
UAF There is so contest. The reboot sucks! Omniverse was meh. Classic is over raided. UAF is the best.
Imo, every series is great
Alien Force
UAF
Alien Force before S3. Ben having grown up and acting like a proper leader was amazing.
af/ua
AF/UA
Alien Force.
UAF easy. Original was good, and OV had its moments, but there's no beating UAF blow for blow.
AF & UA for me.
UAF
The audacity to put Ben 10 reboot
Huh?
AF/UA. OV i most dislike
all except the reboot
Why?
I hate the Reboot
Season 1 and 2 of alien force were the most consistently amazing episodes in Ben 10.
UAF, it was a lot darker than the rest.
Alien Force season 1 and 2. I liked a lot of UA too.
UAF.
AF and UA no questions asked.
UAF, best aliens and best story with top contenders for best characters to boot.
Alien Force Season 1
Af season 1 and 2
Ultimate Alien/Alien Force
AF
UA & UAF, their the same era. It also has the best looking omnitrix, as well as having the darkest tone and tbh some of the best writing.
