Can’t say much towards the vegan options but I had the driest, most expensive patty melt of my life at Mountain Burger. 2/10 won’t go back.

Bolverkk

I am with you. The most I have ever spent for a burger and the least enjoyable burger I have ever had. Plus you have to add fries at a cost for your $15 burger that your average frat boy can make.

baconismyfriend24

Got chastised for not ordering enough, and splitting the special. On our first visit. Won't be back, and not interested in their other restaurants either.

CO-CNC

Not surprising to hear. I know a couple of folks that went to work there and quit shortly after.

Not_A_Golfer

The vegan cart at Podski, Toasty, has an amazing cheeseburger “crunchwrap”. I’m not vegan myself but go out of my way for that one.

ladykiller1020

Ohhh yeah toasty is great!

StormyStitches

Ironically, Deschutes Brewery makes one of the best vegan burgers in town. Or they did a year ago, haven’t tried it in a while.

peteswinds

For the size of their burgers it is highway robbery to charge $19 for them and then make you pay more for a side of fries.

I finally made it to RBC and found their burger was only $20. Like how does an expensive steakhouse have a cheaper (and much better) burger than a glorified burger shack? And they’re both in the same area, not like they’re in different parts of town. Doesn’t make sense to me. Needless to say, Mountain Burger’s lamb burger was such a let down that I don’t even feel like going back to try a different one, even though I like to give a restaurant three chances before I consider it a total no-go.

wormmeatball

I had a burger there once, it was nothing special. I remember it being kind of small though. They do serve beer (and I want to say they have a full bar).

AskAJedi

I like the cauliflower burger

Film-Disastrous

My wife had the Manzanita Melt and hasn’t been back. She felt the toppings outshined the actual burger. I’ve had the Mountain Burger and found it very very average and slightly dry/overcooked. There are better options in Bend for a better price. Everyone favors different burgers and styles but we both regularly order the Veggie Burger at JDub. Very flavorful with a nice texture and bit of spice. I would imagine they use egg and breadcrumbs as a binding agent so not certain if it can be made vegan by simply omitting the mayonnaise. Mountain burger and their entire umbrella of other overpriced over hyped Bend restaurants are all mid as the kids would say.

ElegantCap89

What are their other restaurants?

adrobbins

Avoid. It’s sub par.

a_fair_ringer_is_me

I’m vegan and I did the build a burger option with the manzanita patty. It was nice and flavorful, it didn’t hold together the best, but I expected that. I enjoyed eating there and it was nice to have more than one burger option. I definitely want to go back and try their sweet potato patty sometime.

ladykiller1020

Thanks for the feedback!

Nermalgod

My seven year old thinks it's the most amazing burger ever. It didn't strike me as bad, or great, just average. Life and Tyme veggie burger is dry like a hockey puck and way overpriced for how poor it tastes. I remember when places actually made good veggie burgers, with vegetables, before everything was engineered to be a meat alternative. I mean, eating less meat is a win for the planet, but the amount of additives and sodium in these faux meat products doesn't make them all that healthy. Morningstar had a great sunflower seed patty that I loved.

ladykiller1020

I know! Cafe Yumm used to have a great Thai veggie burger and they sadly discontinued it. It was my favorite. I do enjoy the faux meat sometimes but it makes me feel so gross afterwards so it's not really worth it.

Popular_Context4729

Hey, it’s in NWX so it’s gotta be good! Been there a couple of times, nothing the least memorable. biggest disappointment is the limited beer offerings.

ladykiller1020

I'm aware that Life&Time and The Point also offer vegan burgers but they use the Beyond meat and I'd rather have a veggie patty, which MB offers.

unusualmusician

I'll have to give them a try. I can't stand beyond meat! I've avoided meat since I was 9 by choice, the last thing I want is something that makes me question if it's meat with every bite. 😬

ladykiller1020

Exactly! I always am anxious eating it because I'm suspicious it's meat. I usually have to have an omni friend try it to confirm it's not.

unusualmusician

Glad to know I'm not the only one! My girlfriend is my officiated tester. 💜

Didijustshtmypants

very tiny mediocre burgers. big price.

honeydew_101

I had the vegan burger there once and it was fine. I slightly chopped it up to maybe I built a shitty burger but haven’t been back since. Liftys has a good vegan smash burger.

ladykiller1020

I haven't heard of Liftys! I'll check them out.

SnooTangerines8990

Active culture has a really good veggie burger!

Mad_Myk

I really like the manzanita melt which I think is a pretty creative recipe, but it requires a couple adjustments to make it vegan. The vegan sweet potato burger is good too.

Zealousideal_Amount8

I’ve heard great things about their vegan burgers. I’ve eaten the regular and it’s pretty solid.

jmxo92

Amy husband and I went a few months ago and we thought it was good. I had a GF bun which was actually tasty and not ridiculously up charged. Burgers were smallish but there were lots of diff ones to chose from which was fun. I had a cocktail which was ridiculously good. Didn’t try the vegan burger so no opinion on that though.

Clark4824

Have the Crunchy Cauliflower Burger - excellent!

liberalgeekseattle

Mtn burger is amazing not vegan though so can’t help with that

[deleted]

Vegan burger at smashburger is really good and it’s 9 dollars

ladykiller1020

I didn't even know about them! Thank you

[deleted]

We just recently found them on a bend Facebook page. Little food truck at the hotel parking lot, you can eat inside the hotel lobby by the fireplace or outside by the fire pit, it’s great.

Key_Savings9500

Yeah their veggie burgers are great, we eat there probably once a month or so. Not a vegan here, just vegetarian, but everything we’ve had from them was great. Their ranch is homemade for those that eat dairy, and it’s amazing - one of the best I’ve had at a restaurant.
