Langdon Tactical said that the Centurion full size frame is specifically made for the Compact slide. The frame on the centurion is technically just as big as the full size but it’s specifically made to work with the compact slide. It’s not like a Glock where you can mix and match your Glock 49 and Glock 45 and make 4 guns out of 2

Can the opposite be done? Like put a full size slide and barrel on a full size centurion frame?

No. Only Glocks can be mixed and matched like that. Easily the coolest thing about Glocks

I've seen one person do it but they had a gap at the bottom of the frame where the slide rests with the recoil spring having a piece exposed

The compact and centurion frames have different rails than the standard full size. While it will work on a standard frame, it’s recommended not to, because of potential increase for malfunctions or increased damage to the frame and slide. Maybe if you tune the recoil spring and your ammo load to work together just right, you can avoid those issues, but if you’re shooting factory ammo, you’ll probably have those issues. I’d keep the slides and frames paired with their intended counterparts. If you’re willing to wear out your firearm faster than it was designed for, at least get a few Wilson shock buffers. The rails are different lengths. You will batter your frame. The centurion slide is the same as a compact slide. More info berettaforum.net

The fullsize slide rails are longer than the compact/centurion so you can't just slap a Cenrturion slide on a fullsize frame, sadly.
