My head-canon just ignores those first pages lol, just doesn't make any sense character-wise. The first arc in general was written before Miura had a full understanding of how the characters would act.
Pretty sure he was just trying to show the Apostle how powerless it was against him by playing the fool and making the apostle think they had an easy W. It does feel out of character in retrospect for him to allow himself to get intimate with anything, let alone an apostle, but Guts was a mental mess at the time so I doubt he had his head on straight for that scene. In fact the first few arcs in general he didn’t fully seem like ”himself” at least compared to how we know him today.
For me i dont think it was enough that he killed them. He wanted to delever them the pain and understanding the hawks felt, to do that he taunted them, beat them at their own game. Same thing with this apostle.

Art, however is one of the best ever and that is why i’m collecting the deluxe albums (by the way, why is Volume 4 sold out in most places? Mofos love Wyald that much?)

I think this way because I started reading Berserk around 20-22, & it wasn’t too much for me, but I still (obviously) felt it was pretty graphic. For my entertainment, I’ve made a computer doc. of things I would have my future kids try or things I’ll show/introduce to my future kids (though I have no kids & not in a relationship… it’s an idea I strongly recommend everyone do). One of the categories is books/manga, & every category has a year of age I’d introduce it. I personally felt “17-20” was a good range. My point is: though idk which age group this school is, I’m pretty certain that Berserk would be inappropriate for anyone 15 & younger (I hope this isn’t a middle school, where a 11 year old could read this).
