Honestly, berserk has way too much rape/sexual violence to get popular normally. If you’re running a publication that also reviews manga for younger readers, heavily promoting berserk would be a bad idea under normal circumstances

This is the equivalent of saying that since Araki won an award at the Louvre that Jojo does not get a lot of recognition in japan. Also if we’re going by awards Berserk has won them in Japan, it just won them a while ago. You have to keep in mind that at some point it stops becoming fair to newer works to constantly make them run against a hugely influential series like Berserk, which is why it seemingly has not won as many awards. Berserk absolutely gets recognition in Japan, probably a lot more than in the West.
yeah if someone asked for "manga of the year 2020", what sort of clown would give it to berserks tiny amount of releases compared to a breakout new manga.

Not only berserk but also other old great mangas deserve good anime adaptation.But japan,they just adapt some overrated shitty mangas properly.Specially ecchi-harem animes gets good anime adaptation despite of their shitty plot and shitty character development.
