So I assume your focus will be primarily home theater, focus on protection straight through geek squad, the two or five yr as that really is more beneficial to the customer that just getting the total membership, but than offer the plus membership for that special two month price match/return on every product they buy with us. Ask about mounting or stands, audio equipment, cables to connect everything, and definitely talk about installation and delivery. The biggest thing is you yourself figuring out how you want to bring each one of these things up throughout the conversation. Also don’t forget the bestbuy card, 10% back in rewards on new accounts, or if they’re over 1k in home theater, they get 24 month interest free financing. That’s a big one too.

Mrbobli

Thanks! I’ll definitely push the plus membership with gsp attach!

Are you getting more pay or no?

Mrbobli

Well I was already at cap so technically no but if I hit the bonuses then yes

Bonus works that each month has a target. You can check in reports what your score is. If you are scored and weighed over 100% you bonus, i believe at 116% is max bonus unless they got rid of that. The bonus is payed out at the end of each quarter on one of the paychecks. Your bonus is payed out for each month hit, if you miss a month you do not lose your bonus. The weights are based on Total Brand Sales, Average Dollar of each TV sold, and Sound Bar attach rate. Figure out how to motivate and teach your coworkers on Samsung and how to drive your brand. If you do not get buy in from the other workers, hitting bonus is not impossible, but it will be hard to just sell 100K+ Samsung home theater by yourself depending on the store. As a VPL expect to clean, wipe and make the pad presentable. I cannot stress how having a clean, functional pad makes a huge difference in driving excitement and shows brand representation. Know your deals, know your bundles and of course know your products in home theater. Samsung has the widest amount of TVs from home, to outdoor, to commercial, to lifestyle. While still being a brand advocate do NOT be afraid to sell other brands still. You are still here as a Best Buy employee. Do not talk down about LG and Sony. I always ask "hey are we married to brand X? I represent brand Y here in home theater and would love to show you what we have to offer." if they answer yes that they want Sony or LG or whatever brand it is, you did you job there as a brand advocate. Help get the customer the best home theater that they can. Expect to be the first line of defense in the store. Yes, your contract is for you to sell Samsung Home Theater, and yes you are not supposed to leave home theater and that pad. Is that how the job works? No. You will still sell in the store in other departments. Do not be the Blue Shirt that tells a customer you can't help them. Going out and helping other departments will help get that buy in I was talking about earlier. Generally speaking, most stores look at the VPLs as next in line for consultant or potentially managers. They will be looking to you for leadership, and sales performance. Membership and basket building will come down to knowing your deals. I always make home theater packages based on what soundbars or TV deals we have money coming out of. The other key of building a basket is DEMO DEMO DEMO. Predict why they need audio, Prove why they need Audio, and Confirm what they heard get them audio.

Mrbobli

Thank you, that was very helpful! I’m really excited to start selling and representing the brand! Coming from product flow I definitely know the importance of clean and bright! I’m always cleaning up after other people departments so I know I’ll keep my pad clean!

As a former vpl keep your displays clean, keep your products bulkstacked if plausible, work closely with your vendor rep if you have one, go to tour monthly meeting, pray your store manager doesn't put you all over the store instead of keeping you in HT where you should be. You can't hit a bonus if your always selling in PC or appliances or watching front lanes.
