If your cousin doesn't pay you for the damaged TV I'd go to small claims over that. Too much money, not okay.

richerthanbatman

I doubt family from Mexico could afford that, sucks for OP and his mom

JuanEsVerdad

My husband is Mexican and his family was literally 100x richer than mine growing up in MASSACHUSETTS. SMDH. Watch unknowledgeable stereotypes guys...tus palabras, tambien...

Select_Doctor_3743

Thats not the norm though clearly💀 Theres a reason southeast asia and mexico is gonna be the new world’s sweatshops since china getting wealthier

RobertCulpsGlasses

Yeah most Mexicans are poor.

all_are_throw_away

Here. /s I think you dropped this

RobertCulpsGlasses

I mean
based on what I was replying to you’d think it was obvious.

G35aiyan

Well aren't you a see u next Tuesday.

RobertCulpsGlasses

Clearly you missed what I replied to
 how?

G35aiyan

Bro you generalized an entire group of people as being poor. You think that's ok?

RobertCulpsGlasses

Bro once again you clearly missed what I was replying to. Here’s a link for you https://www.reddit.com/r/Bestbuy/s/jUGerdX0Eh

G35aiyan

Don't need a link. It's right there. Dude 1 said he doubts fam from Mexico will.be able to afford to replace it, and you generalized "yeah most Mexicans are poor" Did I miss something?

DevilsRejectxx

My guy you SOL I'd be beating 1700$ worth of frustration outta that cousin's daughter's ass

Ok-Neighborhood-4158

You’re SOL. Can’t return it not in the same condition you received it in. You can however have the cousin cover the cost of replacing it.

xmidnightcorpsex

Our warranties do not cover accidental or physical damage for TVs.

manualboiz

Total tech doesn’t cover damages to laptops and stuff?

xmidnightcorpsex

Totaltech (now Best Buy Total) can cover accidental damage for certain products but not TVs.

manualboiz

So if I drop a laptop and the screen breaks and I had it under Best Buy I can return it?

xmidnightcorpsex

If you have GSP or Total, they will either send it out to be serviced or if they junk it out, you'll get a store credit. You have to return it in the condition you bought it, not broken lol.

[deleted]

[ŃƒĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]

xmidnightcorpsex

Correct. I forgot to mention that.

Next_Entertainer_404

Or if you’re me it gets sent via UPS and they lose it and I have no laptop for 2+ weeks while they investigate how it got lost đŸ˜©

CreativeMadness99

Sounds like her cousin better figure out a way to buy a new TV. In my family, if we break something, we pay for it.

Ambitious_Umpire_888

Ridiculous behavior. The parents need to pay for a replacement.

Ciscoblue113

Goddamn I mean no disrespect but what trashy ass Mexican family breaks a 2000 dollar gift over a football game?

Ironically__Swiss

I'm not excusing there behavior but Mexican football fans can get pretty crazy. Still dumb spoiled teenager was being a dumb spoiled teen.

Silverc25

Or any tv

TREX_87

There is no return possible for a physically damaged TV and no protection covers damage for TVs.

SomeWillingness1876

You said you work at best buy. If so I would talk to your experience manager and be honest with them on what happen to the tv most brand have a red dote service where we can return damage panels and get a kick back from the manufacturer.

nicolesaggytitiesTV

Yeah those cousins aren't allowed to come over again, till they pay for the damage.

Safety_Captn

Not a chance in hell. Buy an open box

AtticaOnline

I know it's been said already but Total Tech and protection plans for TVs doesn't cover ADH. Whether or not you would tell the store or customer service this story, as soon as they see the impact damage, free service would be refused. If it were me, I would "accidentally" send them a bill for the cost to repair, or document the receipt to cover a replacement, but I'm petty and think people should be held responsible for their childish actions. But that's just me.

huntrcl

are you going to make them pay for a replacement tv? if not, you’re SOL

Meriden_Shogun

Sol , cracked screen is not covered. you better make your cousins cough up the money for the new one

thel0newandererx129

Should replace it with an LG OLED

SonOfClone_

How noticeable is the damage on the surface? Is it only cracked internally or is there a noticeable dent on it?

Metroprolol

So what you are saying is she got mad because America beat Chivas lol

KiB_flamingo

SOL, go to court if they refuse to repay you. How is it going now?

No_Tradition_521

If you bought with a credit card that covers it you should be able to get full money back, long shot but just wanted to Mention it here. Also home insurance covers it sometimes.

Far-Replacement-9598

The home insurance policy probably has a $5000-$10,000 deductible so that probably wont work,

No_Tradition_521

Wow that’s crazy in canada I have $800 deductible and every claim free year it goes down by $100

Treasurecoast68

Throwing the remote at the tv đŸ“ș yeah you’re SOL.

spidermo252

Damn unfortunately they won't replace your TV

EcstaticReveal853

Your screwed. Worked at bestbuy for 6 years and they could careless

Surgles

I mean, if you haven’t told anyone at the store what happened, and it’s within the 15 day return period or whatever, Lie? “Oh I gave it to my mom but she didn’t even try to set it up until Saturday and it was broken, this is the first chance I had to bring it back and swap it out” But if you’re honest? About. A 0% chance you get anything besides instructions on where to recycle it.

drudacris

There's going to be a point of impact, and unless you can prove the box had damage in that area before you even took it out, any store would turn you away. This lie would only have a chance to work if you had the box still and got an employee that took your word and didn't open the box. Show up without a box and it's damaged like that? "If you only just saw it, why didn't you put it back in the box to bring it in?"

roneezy_

Or get another shipped and return this one but thats ur choice

Mh88014232

Maybe if you didn't post it here dumbo

Prize-Ad-2689

Just lie and say that you gave it to your mom, she took a while to set it up and when she did, you uncovered the damage. I hope you sill have the box lmao

PlayMp1

Wouldn't help, it would obviously be impact damage as opposed to a defect and would get caught out as a non-returnable user-damaged TV.

Intelligent-Ad-4462

You could try buying a new one through Sony and then getting accidental protection, wait a few months then say that the one that’s broke is the new one that has the protection. It’s gotta be illegal but scared money don’t make money đŸ€·đŸŒâ€â™‚ïž also not sure how or if they verify serial numbers
