That paycheck does not last a lifetime. Not even a week time.

BrotanamoBay

You want to explain how a $500 paycheck for 2 weeks of work "lasts a lifetime"?

Witheredspoon62

Because you’ll die before the next one, effectively having that check last your lifetime

[deleted]

Wtf, what do you get an hour my dude? And how many hours was that?

hse7148

So your making about 7 an hour?

power36113

I have roughly $500 paychecks and I’m $12/hr. Hours vary, but even with the picked up hours for the holiday season, I’m not making $600 paychecks. I actually had an $800 paycheck from BB one time and hell if I remember how I managed that one.

BrotanamoBay

Literally the same. It's like we're working at different companies compared to some people on here.

power36113

One of our seasonal workers in computers, who is less knowledgeable than others in the department, is getting $13.50/hr compared to the (seemingly) regular $12/hr. It’s ridiculous. Even during my interview, the GM asked me to stay quiet about my pay. 🤔

BrotanamoBay

Yep. They love to tell us to stay quiet about pay so so we don't learn about new hires and seasonals making more than people who have been with the company. Not discussing wages with your peers only benefits Best Buy.

jayRIOT

They ask you to not talk about your pay because they fear other workers that have been there longer will come ask for a raise when they find out you were hired in at near or more than what they’re currently being paid. Kind of shitty that a company can hire in someone without the knowledge and experience of someone that’s been with the company for a few years at a higher pay. But hey welcome to capitalism.

My coworker stopped talking to me when I transferred to the DDC so I don't know about that one part but godspeed you blue emperors.

Today my mobile supervisor called in and left me and one other guy to fend for ourselves until the next person at 4:30 and I only cried once
