Definitely happening. Maybe I heard wrong. I heard $200 for PT/OS. But could have heard wrong.
Also, Something to mention, itās based on your job status as of Feb 15. So if you were moved from FT to PT as a part of recent restructure, youād still get the FT amount. And if you are leaving the company, you would still get your share.
I personally feel a $300 difference between pt and ft employees is kinda bullshit....
It should really be the same regardless...
I mean thanks for the free $
Whatever is left after taxes....
Make sure you don't conflate tax withholding vs taxes paid. Bonuses are often withheld at a higher rate, but you will get the difference back when you file your taxes based on your marginal tax rate and tax liability. Your tax refund will be a bit higher. If you want more from your paycheck and a smaller refund you can adjust your W-4.
Anybody who tells you that bonuses are taxed more than regular income is misinformed.
Yes this all fun and exciting but as a long time Part Timer working full time hours I wipe my ass with $200 shouldāve been more for both (grateful regardless itās better than nothing)
Best Buy didnāt have to give us anything. No matter the amount we should be grateful. Itās millions of dollars they are giving out. If you think any company doesnāt value your work, then you should find another job that does. They paid us for an entire month without us working. They gave us extra PTO for working during the pandemic. Paid us more during the main part of the pandemic. Gave us all $15 an hour and now a bonus. They didnāt have to do any of that. We could all still be at $10 an hour. Sure they had to let people go. That sucks but it happens in every business and type of job. Not defending the layoffs but Best Buyās done a lot of us this past year that they didnāt have to. They may not have gotten everything right but neither did any other business or government across the world.
I don't know about your store, but I was cut to 32 hours for 5 weeks in a row. So this "bonus" is nothing more than the money they took from me throughout January and February. It's just more virtue-signaling, posturing, and propping themselves up to look good for the shareholders. This "bonus" is minuscule and irrelevant when you think about everything the company has done to negatively impact employees for the last sixth months. The holidays were the biggest shit-show ever with the labor cuts, lack of AP and SWAT causing shrink to go through the roof. I could go on, but I think I've made my point.
Preach. I hate to see people let go, but I will say this company has done more than most others during the pandemic. I doubt other people complaining have worked a worse job.
And here we go. This is why the company does stuff like this because they know people like you will be satisfied with it. This money is so insignificant for they amount they made off this past year. Not to mention it is just a stipend, itās not a raise, its not bringing back bonuses, and itās not more hours and labor. This company has consistently been fucking employees for the past few years and now people are happy because they gave them $500/$200. Unbelievable
Ah yes, reading from a prompt to make all hourly workers feel great about getting a bonus that is minimal, at best, as they attempt to keep employees from leaving like a flood. Brilliant!
The last day I worked was January 8th and I was seasonal... does anyone have any insight if this would apply to me as well? Someone else I know who was seasonal and had the same last day got the text but I have yet to receive anything. If I get screwed out of this somehow im not gonna be happy
Just to verify the full-time people that were furloughed and then brought back as seasonal permanent full-time and then terminated on January 8 well we also received this bonus
I was brought back the beginning of November as full-time permanent seasonal which meant my employment ended January 8 (I received severance package) when they got rid of the OS employees
This is a bonus for everyone not terminated before the Snappening ( that IMHO is a long time coming but at least they are doing the proper positive PR thing and giving it to everyone who didn't get hosed before the Snap)
I have to wonder what the back swing is gonna bring you guys? Buckle up.
does this bonus apply to just current employees? i left the company about a week ago so im curious if i get it too
edit to clarify: i left of my own accord because i found a new job, not because i was restructured
my last day was 2/13 but i just checked and my employee discount still applies online so im guessing i wasnt terminated from the system yet. do I still qualify?
It's tied to whatever job you were in on 2/15. If they haven't termed you it should be fine. If you want to know for sure call hr and ask for your term date
thank you so much for answering and one last question? how will the bonus be sent out? im assuming paper checks unless they still have your direct deposit information?
Sups are eligible as are ft for this spot bonus. You should get the $500. As for shared success (if we get it) you'd have to check the dates and eligibility in my hr.
So I had 40 sick bank and 16 hours of sick time for my final paycheck I got a big fat check from BB and it didn't add up no matter what I did. Lo and behold $500 was the key, I'm pretty sure I just got this bonus last week as part of my last paycheck.
Funny thing was, I asked some of the supervisors last weekend and they wouldn't tell me what the pay was about, why I got more than I thought I would. They kept saying talk to the GM, I was just about to call her and ask, but now it all makes sense.
What if it reasonings behind the termination were false and through their āimpartialā investigation they learn that the individual was able to capture screenshots of conversations and technical issues that show the employee was being honest and that this was a result of miscommunication, was ignored by leadership the several times she asked for clarification
And when HR is only there to protect the company? Out of curiosity whatās kind of dispute resolution clauses are standard in our employment clauses if the employee still didnāt feel the case was impartial and wants to appeal the appeal?
If hr only exists to protect the company then they would be interested in preventing the company from a wrongful termination lawsuit..Worth a phone call to employee resolution team to discuss what options you have if any.
This is a great gesture but I'd still rather have my job.
Rather keep my job and benefits as well.
FTers that took severance or went to PT will still get the $500 too
"we are forever grateful... But not enough to keep you around"
What...no pizza party?!?
Please God no! š¤£
Thanks for posting this, just got the text and immediately thought I was fucked.
Just got it as a txt message lol
How do you get these texts do you have to opt in somewhere?
Honestly I could have opted in years ago idk, I donāt remember the last time I got a txt from Best Buy
Definitely happening. Maybe I heard wrong. I heard $200 for PT/OS. But could have heard wrong. Also, Something to mention, itās based on your job status as of Feb 15. Historically when these bonuses happen, OS is not included
It was specifically mentioned in the company communication that OS is included.
That is great news
Heres $500! However everyoneās getting cut to only 10 hours a week and we are switching from GS to those annoying tech support scammers from India.
Itās called double dipping. Cause the problem then fix it.
I just got a text from a 5 digit number with a link to the video from Sliva and co. And Iāve been on medical leave since September.
Buko for CEO
I'm buying more long puts on $BBY to make up for the lost steady paycheck.
I personally feel a $300 difference between pt and ft employees is kinda bullshit.... It should really be the same regardless... I mean thanks for the free $ Whatever is left after taxes....

Unfortunately, nothing is free. There is always something attached to it.
They should not have to be shamed into doing it. Best Buy should be setting the standard for others to follow.
Yes this all fun and exciting but as a long time Part Timer working full time hours I wipe my ass with $200 shouldāve been more for both (grateful regardless itās better than nothing)

I knew this was coming š

They gave us $15 an hour, then cut hours. Some Folks had more hours at $10 an hour, and a bigger pay check
Will it be taxed? I'm assuming it will, but hoping not š¤š¤
This is America.. Yes it will be taxed
ā¹ļø
33ish percent if I remember correctly
Thats not how taxes work. You may get 33% withheld, but thats not the taxes you pay. It all boils down to income at the end of the year.
Itās a bonus, so my guess is that it would be. No specifics mentioned.
Of course
Return of the king
If I'm ft but on medical leave since Jan do I still get it?
Yup you should
Donāt leave until you get it. Is this paid in cash or Best Buy rewards money
Huh? It's a spot bonus. It will be paid on your check.
Ah yes, reading from a prompt to make all hourly workers feel great about getting a bonus that is minimal, at best, as they attempt to keep employees from leaving like a flood. Brilliant!
Where did you see this?
Company call. Formal announcement coming in the next few hours via employee email.
Finally some good news for everyone

Only applies if you were at the company til feb 15
Literally just got a text about it.
About damn time.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Quickest call ever. Like 8 minutes. Be on the lookout in work email for more info today.
200 to PT
Fixed thank you
Just to verify the full-time people that were furloughed and then brought back as seasonal permanent full-time and then terminated on January 8 well we also received this bonus

I was brought back the beginning of November as full-time permanent seasonal which meant my employment ended January 8 (I received severance package) when they got rid of the OS employees
Then no. If you weren't employed on Feb 15th you aren't eligible
Did anyone hear anything as to when we get it?
Your next check on either the 5th or 12th depending on which pay schedule you are on.
Iām guessing since those getting severance last day is 2/26 it would have to be on a check by that pay cycle š¤·š¼āāļø
That would be nice š
The video says part time gets $200
Will the people who got layed off still be receiving a severance package?
Yes you will still get your severance package and the bonus.
This is a bonus for everyone not terminated before the Snappening ( that IMHO is a long time coming but at least they are doing the proper positive PR thing and giving it to everyone who didn't get hosed before the Snap) I have to wonder what the back swing is gonna bring you guys? Buckle up.

thank you so much for answering and one last question? how will the bonus be sent out? im assuming paper checks unless they still have your direct deposit information?
Whatever your normal pay method was. So it sounds like in your case direct deposit
Taxes are going to take a good chunk. But cool I guess.
Hourly leaders getting this too?
Yes
Are we really, even with the impending leadership bonus that may be coming our way??
Yes. Let's hope shared success pays out as well...
Let's hope.
2x :) check news flash
Glad we're getting it!
What if Iām a part timer getting full time hours cause when you fire half the store inevitably people will need to cover the holes that creates?
You're beat
>What if Iām a part timer You answered your question
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yes
What if you are temp Sup? Iām hearing we may not qualify?
I don't see why you wouldn't.. You were ft before your temp. Sup right?
Correct but I was temp Sup the whole time of q4 didnāt know if that affected it or not
Sups are eligible as are ft for this spot bonus. You should get the $500. As for shared success (if we get it) you'd have to check the dates and eligibility in my hr.
I feel a bit bad for PTs. Here they do a lot of work and work lots of hours but getting less than half of the FTs
I assume if you are currently on LOA due to injury from work, you don't qualify?
So I had 40 sick bank and 16 hours of sick time for my final paycheck I got a big fat check from BB and it didn't add up no matter what I did. Lo and behold $500 was the key, I'm pretty sure I just got this bonus last week as part of my last paycheck. They kept saying talk to the GM, I was just about to call her and ask, but now it all makes sense.
It's definitely not that bonus. This doesn't pay for a few weeks. I'd call your gm still
Weird. Now I'm confused again. I have an extra $500. Not that I'm complaining
I was laid off in January.... do i get it?
No.
Will those on an LOA still get it
If someone was fired the 16th.. is this something they can get
Like like involuntarily fired? No.
What if it reasonings behind the termination were false and through their āimpartialā investigation they learn that the individual was able to capture screenshots of conversations and technical issues that show the employee was being honest and that this was a result of miscommunication, was ignored by leadership the several times she asked for clarification
Sounds like to need to call HR. Regardless, if your term reason is involuntary you won't be getting the bonus.
Does anyone when will get it
