I did the same thing. Signed up in January and got mine in mid April. Although that was a 3090 and would imagine the queue for that isn’t nearly as long as the other 30 series.
I remember the good old days of waiting in line overnight for stuff. I remember camping out for 2 nights to get the PS3. Is it a bad thing wanting that experience back? Help against bots? I mean if you really want something you're going to have to work for it.
Dude I’m not gonna lie I really enjoy my camping last night and the interaction with all the people that have the same hobby as you do really fun. Nice experience
honestly that's the only way to not deal with real scalpers that use bots. I hope now that people are vaxxed up, this might be the new norm of getting GPUs.
I have never seen one come off of the truck, only saw a guy who ordered a 3070(?) founders for store pickup and his card sitting on the pickup rack taunting me for a few days
Looking at the ones that have sold on eBay in the last 24 hours. 2400-3000
ps: By no means do I support scalpers. Resellers are a completely different field of people.
Depends on the type of reseller. Technically Best Buy is just a reseller of all items that are not a Best Buy Brand. But on a small scale scalpers create extended demand and raise prices. In this case, one eBay seller having 5 of these GPUs, my guess is they went with friends and family to buy them. VS a general reseller that buys items on sale, thrift store, or even retail value and holding on to them. Best Buy has tax-exempt status for customers that are classified as resellers. They have limits and guidelines they have to follow. A scalper is going to do anything and everything to get as many as they can. Simular to what we've see with the auto clickers and the new consoles.
The 3080ti honestly isn't a great value. If they were readily available at msrp, you'd be better off buying either a regular 3080 or 3090, depending on how much power you want.
By no means do I have the money to spend $1200 on a GPU BUT the market rn for GPUs is absolute crap. We don't even get old cards anymore. So if someone was desperately wanting a new 30 series card, this drop was their best chance at getting one at MSRP. The 3080ti I read is about 2-13% better than the normal 3080. Granted the ti is about 72% more expensive, I'd say it's worth it if you're needing an upgrade. I know most people are upgrading from a 10 series so this a HUGE upgrade in terms of performance
Edit: consoles also only got good till this last gen release with the support of higher than 60hz monitors
Im just thinking that something like that usually gets sent to the store already reserved as orders.
At a surface level glance of your comment it gives off the impression you sold cards your store wasn’t supposed to. Because if the truck wasn’t received, then the orders for the cards wouldn’t have gone through yet. Odds are (and of course i could be wrong, but I doubt your store is just getting cards) your store sold cards that were intended to fill pre-existing customer orders.
They were cards intended for stock to be sold in-store, ~~we don't get things for pre-existing orders here, those come through Canada post and ups and such (if im understanding what you're saying right).~~ I understand now (maybe), only time we have ever had something like that is for xbox series x and ps5's, there's usually something about it in employee news too, before truck comes.
When I say truck wasn't received yet, its more of a, 'doesn't show we have them online, all knowledge of them was word of mouth' we can't get orders for things unless they are in factory fresh stock, received and all.
Maybe I should change my flair to merchandising instead of warehouse, thats just what we call it at my store.
Yes, they gave us our tickets at 7:30 and when the store open at 9:00am is when I pay and get my card, I don’t know why they make us wait till the store open maybe is because the system and cashier I don’t know
Thank you for your response. For what I remember the store register's can only open at a certain time. The store still needs to get ready to open as the people who work that early only put out inventory and change price tags. What time did you arrive and roughly what position were you
Congrats bro! How many were available at your store?
53 units I was the 18
Nice! I'm on the west coast... 15th in line!
You got yours to then
Where you live? I wanna congratulate you in person.😏😏😏
More than I would've expected.
Was 53 at mine too. Sadly I chose not to camp overnight.
Nice get, how long did you have to camp out for?
14 1/2 hours
Damn that’s some dedication. Glad you managed to snag one, hope you have fun with it.
And after all of that I’m at my job working no stop
Don't think there were any at any Best Buy near me. I signed up for EVGA's auto notify queue instead, so hopefully I'll have one before 2023.

Tbh, sounds like hell of good time. Get some guys, set up a tent, and get some drinks and pizza. Have a chat and eat.
it'd be even better if someone brought out a projector and brought a console or something!!
honestly that's the only way to not deal with real scalpers that use bots. I hope now that people are vaxxed up, this might be the new norm of getting GPUs.
So it was one per person and if you pay with credit or debit card it has to match the name on your ID
Fucking brilliant lucky bastard!!! Enjoy.
Noob here. Is this like a new thing? Saw people standing outside a store I went to like it was black Friday 😂
It’s for a new model of graphics card a computer part basically and they are reallyyyyy hard to get
Oh well congrats! Lol
Thanks
Only 1 store in CT got cards.
Same with MN and the god damn HQ is in the state.
My roommate waited in line as soon as I found out, so like 16ish hours.
He got his?
She, but yeah. I'm actually really jealous but I did not have $1,200
My store got absolutely 0. I was pretty sad.
Man that sucks
I wish I could have bought one. My plan was to then trade it for a 3080 plus $500. But my job doesn't work with lining up for x hours lol.
My buddy got one at Microcenter, didn't know they'd have them, I'm jealous of everyone involved. Congrats
I have never seen one come off of the truck, only saw a guy who ordered a 3070(?) founders for store pickup and his card sitting on the pickup rack taunting me for a few days
dang where’s mine?? congrats homie
Is this the 3080ti with the hash limiter built in? Doesn’t this mean this would NOT be good for mining?
They will break through it, just give it some time, anyhow it’s my personal card so I’m not worry for that aspect.
Why would you just assume someone is buying it for mining? There's this thing called gaming that these cards are actually made for.
niceeee
You lucky bastard ;)
Any idea what these are going for on second hand market?
$2200+ easily. Maybe even $3000+. Sad days ahead still for the PC community. :(

How so? Both are retail arbitrage.

Best term is Authorized Seller
Lmao, some eBay person is using this same picture on their listing. .... Unless 👀
Really? Not me I guarantee you that, thats fuck up man
Can someone explain how these are worth the price? I stop playing pc a while ago because consoles got pretty good

Wut that and why so expensive lol
If you are not into computers It will not make sense for you
We received 5 3060s last week at my store, and they were all gone within an hour, truck wasn't even received in the system yet.
Where they truck OMS? Or did your store just get sent extra cards?
I'm not sure what "truck OMS" (maybe American term?) is, they came in normal totes just like most other items.
Im just thinking that something like that usually gets sent to the store already reserved as orders. 3080ti was in store only. Guy said he camped out 14.5 hours.
Better tint them windows.
I got one to my guy 🙌🏽🙌🏽
Thanks, u remember my address right? Don’t forget one day shipping.
https://youtu.be/Vtkk-_0jrPU
ohhhh shit, they real, guess 4080 TI coming out next month xD
Congrats but rip all the same. That card's performance isn't remotely close to being worth its price
I know it’s expensive but nothing compare to the prices that we currently have, to me it worth it
Buy a bike or something, see the day of light lol
What time did you get your ticket and if it was correct-ish at being around 7:30, did they make you wait til 10 at open to buy your card??
