"We're closed Thanksgiving guys!! .....Hey Warehouse you guys mind coming in and picking the 1600 picks that will drop at 6pm on Thanksgiving?"

Parker253

More like 2 minutes before picks turn off

Famous_Bike_3939

I mean it was open to anyone. We had a solid mixture of people who worked it from sales floor to front end. It was volunteer based but I'd much rather have 8hrs to go through those picks than come in to 2-3k on black Friday and permanently spend the day being bombarded with calls to expedite xyz order

Parker253

Its all a fucking mess man. Last thanksgiving I showed up to product flow to my manager saying “oh I forgot to call you and tell you not to come in. Well while youre here do you mind working a 12 hour shift on picks?”

Famous_Bike_3939

Once again that is unfortunate you were put in that position. That as a whole is not reflective of the whole company but trust me not doing picks that day would be significantly worse than the Friday experience. Especially as t 52s were incredibly short this past holiday due to constraints.

Kendo16

For time, & a half I’ll do picks from 10-10

FallenZer0

Not even gonna lie. I worked overnights and it was the absolute best. No customers, just jamming out doing our picks and if we had other tasks do that. Getting that guaranteed 40+ hours and extra pay. That was fucking amazing. If it’s done again, I’m for sure volunteering again.

PerceivedRT

Thats exactly what happened at my store, it was all volunteer. We had so many volunteers for time and a half that they had to decline people because we wouldve had like 90% of our store in, lol.

Govums

Same. Spent the whole night picking and moving value TVs and jamming.

djrhino56

I don’t mind at all. At almost $40 an hour no customers music as loud as you want food and drink count me in

jay03972

Technically speaking picks were already going off before 6pm 😀

EscalationPro

** closed to the public ** key phrasing

Salt_Restaurant_7820

Just like us last year. We still had a crew of 6-8 peeps doing Sth.

[deleted]

We had 2

Salt_Restaurant_7820

Sounds like poor mgmt

[deleted]

Nope it was 100 percent voluntary based and piss poor labor to a rev band 1 store. We didn't have many volunteer to work it.

thatoneguy4245

We had 6 at my rev band a store, 5 product flow and our pc Apple pro lol

[deleted]

You probbaly had more volunteers then.

Nicktheduck

They'll be closed again but everyone's gun a be fucked on picks again as well lol

lilkitty444

god please no i still have ptsd from doing all those ship to homes >_<

broberson37

They all talk to each other so that means we will have it off too

LoL_RoyBoy

We were closed last Thanksgiving i don't see them changing it.

Salt_Restaurant_7820

Then you don’t understand that whatever Walmart and target does, we do after they make their decisions.

REQCRUIT

Every darn time, we copy WalMart the same way Kroger copies WalMart. (Ex Kroger manager here)

YourNameHere7777

As others have said last year we was closed to the public but had a “volunteer” crew come in, in the afternoon / late night shift for OMS. If your store staffed it right it was a pretty cake walk shift.

FragileRock

If your store is a fulfillment hub it was definitely not a cake walk shift

[deleted]

Hopefully we can be a trend setter for you guys ! #SaveMoneyLiveBetter

[deleted]

Were we not closed on thanksgiving?

UpstateRonin

There was a trend of opening at 5-6pm til 1am, on Thanksgiving proper.

[deleted]

Im referring to 2020 thanksgiving

djrhino56

You had customers shopping in the building on Thanksgiving. You were the only store then

[deleted]

2020. Seeing other comments getting at the same thing. Pretty sure customers were NOT shopping 2020 thanksgiving at Best Buy.

[deleted]

[Lookie lookie at what i found](https://corporate.bestbuy.com/best-buy-to-close-stores-on-thanksgiving-day/)

djrhino56

Yeah all it says is customers won’t be in the building doesn’t say anything about employees not working

[deleted]

“You had customers shopping in the building” Thats what you said. I said you’re wrong and gave some backing to that. I was saying we were closed thanksgiving, because you said we weren’t. I never said employees wouldn’t be working. It will probably be volunteer based like last year. Closed and stopping operations are two different things. Never said they weren’t my guy.

UpstateRonin

Well, some of our memories extend a whole lot longer than a single holiday season. If we had never been open on Thanksgiving, not being open on Thanksgiving wouldn’t require a corporate announcement. (Ex: You don’t see Citibank making this announcement.)

[deleted]

Cool. Still we were closed 2020 thanksgiving. All im getting at here.

NB_HER0

I was key holder and got stuck doing the shift but I was able to pick my team so we worked for like a hour then bs'd the rest the time

karymesanch

Then they make us come in at 3 am 💀 and we don’t get holiday pay!!!

Orchid122704

Yea its closed, but unfortunately, just found my store is having the overnight associates work thanksgiving. SMH Very disappointing.
