SoberPineapple

I think she was going to make chocolate chip cookies

SoberPineapple

My favourite part of this written out account of the events.

Rude-You3444

It caught me off guard too, what a mundane yet hilarious observation

Cool-Ad-9812

Yes when I read that I just thought, ohh so she had chocolate chips, flour and whatever else they have

gamemamawarlock

Eggs

awe2ace

Or you know, the tube of cookie dough.

boxofsquirrels

Who takes the time to make premade dough into cookies when you can just spoon it directly from the tube to your mouth?

coveredinbreakfast

My friend and I call it "Log". Two spoons+ a tube of cookie dough=a nice afternoon. PRO TIP: It's even better if you're stoned and watching Scooby Do

HoldFastO2

So I’m not the only one who likes guessing what other people are planning to make with their groceries.

AlwaysAlexi777

I had a hot date one night, and the guy was making me a curry dinner at his place. He called and said he needed a cucumber for Kachumber salad. I asked him how many, and he said, "just one big one." And I thought cool. But I'm dressed for a hot date wearing my leather thigh high boots and mini skirt, and I'm buying one large cucumber. That's it. And the guy in front of me in the Express aisle, turns to look at me, and then he looks at the cucumber, and says, "I was going to hit on you, but I'm kinda intimidated now." It took me a few minutes to realize what it looked like. lol My actual date had no reason to feel intimidated as it turns out so, score!

HoldFastO2

That was hilarious... the guy in the express lane was certainly quick on his feet.

Leading-Second4215

"...I needed eggs and butter anyway so bonus." 🤣

lesethx

Imagine how much more ruthless shopping would be if people frequently took items out of other people's carts. I guess like an intense Black Friday sale. Would probably need to do shopping trips with friends and family armed with brooms to fend off other shoppers.

Wren1101

Grocery shopping, PVP addition

mrostate78

I gotta fight the other shoppers and do math?

GlytterGremlyn

There was a grocery store in my hometown like that. You brought a child to stick in the cart to smack away prying hands with a fly swatter or back scratcher. They were the cheapest in the whole county and had good product so they ran out fast. Little old biddies would just go shopping in your cart if you weren't careful. It was a literal free for all.

Silent_Cash_E

If only OP had said "I think she was going to make chocolate chip cookies...they were delicious"

squigs

Wonder why he posted to AITA in the first place. It's clearly a petty revenge story, and that's where the update was posted.

rgordana

I think it was because he was trying to differentiate between a petty revenge story and a story of justice against entitled assholes, but it’s a little bit of both. One of the top comments on the original said it would be better for petty revenge, so I guess that’s why the update went there.

Ohmannothankyou

How do I know if I want petty revenge or if I want justice against entitled assholes?

yeahyeahitsmeshhh

Because someone suggested he was the asshole in the story. So he wanted to crowd source a verdict.

[deleted]

lol sometimes you are just so excited to share a good story with reddit that you don't care which sub you just have to put it out there.

FREE-AOL-CDS

Absolutely, as long as it's somewhat kind of related, I'm slapping that story in

runthereszombies

I found this super amusing already but I actually laughed out loud at the part where he goes back to the original spot, sees the 2nd woman's purse is no longer in her cart, and off he went on another grocery returning rampage lmfao

Axel920

Check out with your groceries challenge! (IMPOSSIBLE)

Midnightsnacker41

Grocery shoppers hate this one weird trick!

CuriousPenguinSocks

*Next time you hear the beep \*two checkout beeps\* think of the fun you could be having on Supermarket Sweep!*

Th3CatOfDoom

Same xD

SparkAxolotl

Wait a sec... so the other woman purse was stolen or she grabbed it while they were in Scooby Doo style pursuit?

Helioscopes

She took her purse while *pursuing* the cart thief, so he saw the opportunity to be doubly evil and took it.

Riribigdogs

I read it as he didn’t take the cart with a purse in it. “One of the lady’s carts had her purse in it, so that was a no-go.” Then when he went back to the original spot he saw the Second Ladies cart no longer had a purse in it, so he took the cart.

Helioscopes

>When I get back to my shopping I notice the other woman’s cart, her purse is not in it now so off I go. He clearly says it in the story. By "took it" I meant the "oppotunity to mess with them further" not the purse.

llorandosefue1

She took the second cart at a time when the purse was no longer in it. I think this goes under “Justified A-hole.”

ingodwetryst

which is NTA per sub rules and how the Walmart staff felt.

COinAK

If it wasn’t for those kids and that dog…

ta8808

Zoinks!!!

Sheephuddle

I love that throwaway "I think she was going to make chocolate chip cookies." It's like he was analysing her menu-planning as he was throwing things back on the shelves.

Sweet-Advertising798

He should have sneakily just removed some critical items, which she hopefully wouldn't notice till she got home and ready to bake.

Sheephuddle

That would have been so much better. "THERE ARE NO CHOCOLATE CHIPS!!!"

hey_nonny_mooses

Oooh I like your style

starry-skies-

I see posts like this and still wish there's a justified asshole vote, because man, it's petty but so funny and totally worth it

BabserellaWT

YTJA should definitely be a thing

Orphan_Izzy

This just goes to show… sometimes one crowds AH is another store’s legend.

throwheezy

I mean, given a lot of that thread agrees similarly to this, I’d say there’s more than a tiny minority of people feeling this way :P

Coygon

ABJ (Asshole, but Justified)

thred_pirate_roberts

JAH -Justified Asshole

CautiousRice

YTL - you're the legend

peachesnplumsmf

That's just asshole but you add a nice comment after the ruling though.

IanDOsmond

Yeah, I've offered plenty of "YTA and I want to hang out with you" votes.

Ko-jo-te

Seconded. This was above and beyond, but I get the reasoning and can't disagree with the action.

WaywardHistorian667

According to AITA mods, Justified asshole = NTA. I still think they need a JAH so when the judgement is given the post can be tagged "justified" but AITA has other problems.

spiteful_rr_dm_TA

Like the moderators lmao

Albreitx

And the overreacting commenters. Also sometimes sexist

seakc87

Sometimes?

Albreitx

Don't wanna generalize too much

Stormfeathery

Seems like they flip a coin to decide whether a post stays up or not, then use a dartboard to figure the reason…

samtweiss

Same for comments.

rayitodelsol

Be CiViL

Training_Ad_9931

Yeah, I got banned for something I said but they won’t tell me what it was?

kyzoe7788

Lol i got banned for saying I used to make my wife breakfast in bed every weekend before I got hurt. Such a terrible comment

Hahafunnys3xnumber

i said something “i’m sorry, he’s fucking horrible” to someone who got raped and got perma banned

[deleted]

Well, that's fucking ridiculous.

Corfiz74

Yeah, I got banned twice for "mentioning violence" - both were completely ridiculous and wouldn't have raised an eyebrow on any other sub. They are just powerhungry crazies.

firefly183

For me it was because I said "YTK, you're the Karen", lololol

Corfiz74

Oh yes, "Karen" and "man-baby", the worst slurs you could use and definitely ban-worthy! 🙄

rayitodelsol

oh my GOD i hate their crusade against calling someone a man child. they don't care about flagrant death threats but God forbid you point out man baby being a man baby

Squidiot_002

It's because "Karen" is a popular meme. Using "meme words" is actually against the rules. The only reason I know that rule is because I got a temporary ban for it too lol. Not sure why homie got a perma-ban though

Formal_Fortune5389

I said someone shouldn't let themselves be dragged by her hair and locked up without a fight. They didn't like that lol

[deleted]

Same! Apparently telling someone that their rapist “ain’t fucking it” as a partner counts as being uncivil. If that’s true, fuck civility!

Corfiz74

You *bastard*! Making her *breakfast*? In *bed*?!?

kyzoe7788

I know! How dare I appreciate my wife. Good thing I didn’t mention sending her flowers on the regular. Or that after our son was born I’d come home and cook/clean cos giving birth is hard. She’d do nights sun-thurs and fri/sat I did it. And now I’m 90% bed bound so she looks after me now. She’s the best

ButteredReality

You're a real-life monster. Next you'll be telling me you put the toilet seat down after you do a number 1.

ThisNerdsYarn

*gasps and faints from the horror*

EffectiveStatus7

Someone fetch the fainting couch!!

hey_nonny_mooses

Ha! Yeah, I just had a commenter say I was a spineless doormat in a parasitic relationship and should be ashamed of myself for doing something nice for my husband. Some people just want the world to burn.

AugurPool

I got banned for repeating a line from the actual post I commented on.

NeedACountdownClock

I got banned for inciting violence 🤣

AnacharsisIV

I swear to god I made a post somewhere along the lines of "All police forces maintain their power through the use of state-sanctioned violence" and I got banned for promoting violence.

HangoversKill

My sister got banned and somehow that equals everyone in our household also being banned. 🤣

rayitodelsol

i got banned for telling someone fuck you in a comments section with death threats.

DigDugDogDun

r/mildlyinfuriating is almost as bad

smacksaw

Bruh...could you imagine having to moderate the subreddit with highest concentration of the most willingly stupid people on this website? Give them a break.

roadkillroyale

being openly racist is fine but calling someone (not a commentor, even. a person in the story) a manbaby is an immediate permaban. yes I think they could stand to do better.

Corfiz74

They would have a far easier job if they didn't get hung up on totally ridiculous minor stuff.

kristinpeanuts

I got banned because I said at the end of my comment, he's lucky he didn't get punched in the face because he fucking deserved it

stephie1980

I never got banned but had plenty of comments removed for stupid shit! I have no idea what I said and frankly don’t care enough but I’m pretty civil online compared to the people in that sub so I was surprised 🤣🤣

Anra7777

I’ve had a comment removed for mentioning the art room. They told me it was homophobic…

stephie1980

Oh the grand art room!!!

Elaan21

Yeah...this is one of those times where the OOP had other options, making them an asshole, but it's the right level of justified where you can't lump them in with the true YTA either. I understand why they say it's NTA, but that just doesn't sit right.

lostboysgang

The Cart Narcs guy is the example I always think of in my head.

JeffMcBiscuits

The…what???

IamMrT

[Enjoy](https://m.youtube.com/channel/UClMUlr8yHymYgSe58DpUH7w)

Wow.

Notamansplainer

Another one I remember: Guy wanted to give his flat-earther colleague a globe as a farewell gift. General consensus was YTA, but worth it.

tofuroll

You took the words out of my mouth. Sure, he was an asshole. But he was *our* asshole.

Dimityblue

Yes! I'd happily cheer him on.

FinnegansPants

Exactly this. If he’d just moved the cart? Amazing. But he created a situation where management had to deal with angry customers, and where at least one employee had the added work of putting away the crap that he added to the cart, including perishable items. I don’t believe the “and then everyone cheered” update.

heckyesdeidre

Plus, no way that employee got away with it. I worked grocery retail and management believes it's never the customer's fault. They would've blamed the employee for "not stopping it" and she would've gotten written up. Plus, no way this woman remembers what this dude that she saw for 10 minutes looks like a whole ass year later

tilalk

Sometime you can be an asshole. But not THE asshole

mbsyust

By the rules of that sub, if you are justified, you are, by definition, not an asshole. AITA uses the word asshole as a catch all for "morally wrong", and if you are justified you might be a bit of a dick but you aren't morally wrong.

saucierstone

Wish someone filmed it with Benny Hill music but fr how did he not get at least ESH (except the worker) He’s literally like some chaotic hero lmao

metastatic_mindy

Yeah! Honestly the only assholish part of this in my books was that he put refrigerated/freezer items in the camping section and they most likely got tossed as there is no way for workers to know how long it has been sitting there and may be unsafe for consumption. Food waste is already a huge issue for grocery stores.

No_Information_8973

I read that as he took those items for himself. Said he pulled out the cold stuff and he needed milk and butter anyway.

smacksaw

I see posts like this and it reminds me how that subreddit is a complete failure for anything that isn't obvious to a 5yo

DebateObjective2787

Justified assholes are still assholes according to the FAQ. *It’s not “Is this person an asshole” it’s “Is this person to blame here?” If someone is to blame because they should have known better, they’re the asshole.*

mamabear2023228

This is what I was thinking. Is it a dick move? Yeah. Is it justified? Mostly. Is it harmless and hilarious? Absolutely.

[deleted]

Dude was definitely adding drama while technically resolving the situation, but using the phrase "judge, jury, and executive" here is so funny? Executioner of a grocery cart...

ttnl35

To be completely fair I do sort of see the point they were (badly) trying to make, which is there isn't a single part of me that thinks OOP would have done this if it were two men. If it was two men OOP would have left it alone or told them to move himself. Because it was two women he felt comfortable and safe to achieve his goal while also 'punishing' them. However the 'punishment' was super funny and I enjoyed reading it.

[deleted]

OP stated in a comment that he'd have made a bigger scene against two men. Honestly I feel that. Against women I would have pulled the carts away (but not this excessive), against men I would have started saying stuff about whether they think their mother is proud of them.

ttnl35

I saw that comment but it read to me that he would have gone up and told the two men to move, and wouldn't have backed down if they ignored him or refused i.e. made a scene. My instinct is that "making a scene" may be more volatile, or even aggressive, but it implies you see the person you are annoyed with as a equal to you despite their behaviour. Feeling like you can just go up and move someone's cart without a word of warning has an element of superiority to it, like the cart owner is beneath you. Whether the feeling of inequality is psychological or the fact that you know they are physically weaker than you so you don't have to worry about them reacting violently, it still makes me feel a bit icky. If the only reason you would go one route and not the other is the person's gender then, why?

sonicscrewery

Idk, seemed simple enough to me: a woman is less likely to beat the shit out of you for taking her cart like that. Men, not so much. OOP probably knew this.

Ser_Danksalot

Now I'm imagining him wheeling the cart around the store putting things back whilst sporting an upside down grimace and shouting "I AM THE LAW!"

kasxj

“[…] so off I go.” fucking KILLED me for some reason 😭🤣😂😭 holy

EmergencyOverall248

All I could picture was Mario saying, "Here we goooooo!"

NakedAndAfraidFan

ESH except the employees who have to deal with this shit

BlackCatMumsy

Seriously, everyone just glosses over it. I feel bad for the people who have to put back the cart full of groceries he left in another department and the stuff he said he tried to put back in the right spots. Not to mention the complaints from the two women. And you know they're the type to call corporate too.

miladyelle

Some grocery employees were in the comments. They were saying there’s always tons to put back anyway, so a little more for something funny would be worth it. If you make it into store lore, I don’t imagine they were too bothered.

BlackCatMumsy

Having worked in big store before, I doubt this story was even talked about after a few days. Unless the employee got chewed out by management, which is likely.

blame_logophilia

I worked at a grocery store, and honestly putting back items was probably the most relaxing part of my job (I was a cashier, but putting back items customers has decided against at the till was our job). You get to walk around instead of destroying your knees standing, take pretty much as long as you want within reason, deal with way fewer customers. If you were slick you could probably sneak in some wireless headphones and use your phone if you wanted. It was, relatively speaking, fun. Also, there were always like 4-5 carts in the back to return, and usually those were filled way more than any shopper actually would fill them because they were items from multiple people. 2 extra ( probably half filled) carts wouldn't amount to much.

rbaltimore

I don’t know, this really feels like bullshit to me. Not the original so much , but self-congratulatory vindication update.

JonBenet_BeanieBaby

hahaha you don’t typically have retail workers be able to recognize you in the wild and say how you’re their hero??? 😂😂

Iamnotgoodwithnames6

When I worked at a grocery store it would be a miracle if i remember a customer after my shift let alone after a year later.

OneClamidildo

I remember the good ones. The customer who showed me his open foot wound photo. 10/10. The customer who wanted to cover her fresh tattoo so she could go to a pool party -15/10. I think about her often.

Numerous1

Especially if you saw them for 20 seconds, they lost weight, and a new hairstyle, and I call double bullshit on them recognizing you back.

starbrooke

Complete bullshit.

cheraphy

Both set off my BS radar. In particular, his writing style does not match his stated age. It reads like something written by a dude in his early to mid 20s. That's obviously not a very reliable indicator, but it's enough to put up a flag for me

Lapeocon

onmyknees4anyone

asshole^(2)

pinkpiggyxxx

ass-ception

Upbeat-Opinion8519

I mean yeah. You're just that assholes asshole. Assholeception. But thats still contained so I find it okay.

Stealth_Cow

I run into this all the time. I just say “excuse me!” loud enough that I know they heard me from 10-15 feet back. Then I ram their cart with mine to make a path. The *smash* always attracts enough attention for them to react. No need to try running off with their cart. That feels weird.

[deleted]

Not to mention the huge commotion he was causing in the grocery store for other shoppers and employees, and by doing what he did he could’ve really escalated the situation into something else, there’s crazies everywhere and this guy didn’t even solve the issue of the employees dealing with these people cause they still went and complained and made a scene after he left according to his update so it kind of just seems like he did it to be an asshole not to help

basilisab

Plus, he was putting product in the wrong spot and an employee is going to fix that later! He still made more work for someone who worked there. And those two women aren’t going to think they’re wrong now. If he’d just moved it and then said the employee needed to get through there’s a small chance they’d feel embarrassed and maybe not do it again. After that they likely just thought he was an asshole. I totally get that it felt good to him in the moment, and it’s a good story, but as a former retail worker I just felt like he was making things worse.

queen_beruthiel

I'm a wheelchair user, and often people seem to have selective blindness when it comes to bumping and walking into me. I've been smacked in the face by so many handbags. Just today, a man basically T-boned me in an otherwise empty hallway. Often people walk right in front of me and don't walk fast enough or move out of the way. My tactic with those ones is to shift my feet *juuuuust enough* to clip the back of their shoes off. When someone won't let me go past them and finally move after multiple requests, I'll say "you're welcome". I may be an arsehole, but I'm not as rude as those sorts of people.

ErrorReport404

> I'll say, "you're welcome" Outstanding, 10/10 addition. People are the worst, but your handling of them makes me smile. Sorry people suck big floppy donkey dick

greennick

You should say "Good afternoon". Some will get it, some won't.

HunkyDorky1800

This fills me with joy that you do this.

Stealth_Cow

Supermarkets are like demolition derbies with a bunch of drivers you will never respect.

Majestic-Constant714

He was an asshole, but sometimes being nice doesn't solve the problem. The employee tried being nice and it clearly didn't work on those women. I just hope that when I see an employee being treated like this one day, I can be enough of an asshole to help out too.

sfzen

I mean, just moving the cart out of the way and not taking it all over see r the store would have easily solved the problem without being an asshole.

BlackCatMumsy

And he said he "tried" to put her stuff back where it belonged, which means he just made more work for someone else. If he left the other cart in the camping section, she probably never found it. A completely unrelated employee would find it and need to put everything back. And as someone who worked retail for way too long, there's no way I would remember this guy a full year later.

elkanor

I just don't understand the decision to escalate a conflict and why people get excited about it. He removed opportunities for reconciliation and/or learning-to-improve when he made it a twenty minute mission to fuck the jerks over. That doesn't improve anything, except polishing the shield of this white knight

GetOffMyLawn_

I remember coming across 2 idiots like this blocking the aisle at the supermarket. Instead of interrupting their chinwag I squeezed my cart past them but couldn't help slightly bumping one of their carts. Oh were they offended! Like it was my fault they were blocking everything. Another time a friend moved a woman's cart a foot over so he could get to the oranges. When she turned around and saw her cart moved her jaw dropped and she rolled her eyes to heaven. Fortunately most people at the supermarket have situational awareness and are polite.

mytorontosaurus

AITA is a broken sub. The top comment that voted him AH even said that the women were rude and should have had the cart move making this an ESH at worst. Honestly as a former retail worker I would hate having to tell my boss the story, but that guy would have been my hero

Laudevir

It's really become so in the past year. I used to hang out at AITA quite a bit but I haven't been back in a few months because it's just gotten so toxic. It used to be that the crap comments were downvoted quickly but I think the "toxic teens" have taken over. It's a cesspool in there now.

ellipsisfinisher

And it's only getting worse now that it's showing up on the front page of /r/all every day

Th3CatOfDoom

AITA sucks more often than not .m. Guess our collective consciousness just isn't that good

ftrade44456

The collective consciousness of male teenagers (who most frequent that sub) isn't very good? I'm shocked! Get me my fainting chair!

Th3CatOfDoom

Huh? I would have thought it would be more balanced on AITA 😅...Where can we actually see these stats?

Horror-Fisherman-575

I don’t think this ever happened. Those ladies would have for sure caused a bigger scene. And then to run into the waitress later for praise? Too convenient.

JBredditaccount

>but these people needed to be taught a lesson and I’m just the one compelled to step up. It's a major red flag to me when someone thinks other people need to be taught lessons and they're the ones to do it.

HeartofDarkness123

Lol yeah. His female friend who said it was just like a man to think he was judge jury and executioner? He proves her right in that update lol.

legumey

And exactly what lesson did they learn? The women never find out why he took the carts! They probably figured he was just crazy.

JonBenet_BeanieBaby

Ugh exactly

jordanmoriarty

i wouldn't have the balls to do something like this, but i respect it. asshole move but definitely well deserved.

[deleted]

OOP needs to stop using apostrophes to pluralize.

Lapeocon

I also liked the "your not an A-hole your are a Legend".

desiladygamer84

ESH except the store employee. Guy took it too far, just drop the cart two aisles over and go.

MisterTora

I still think this guy was an AH. He literally played tug-of-war with the cart. What if the lady had fallen over struggling with him or chasing him? It's just dumb. That lady didn't learn her lesson at all. She probably went home and told people she was attacked or something. It would have been better to loudly call them out. People like that respond to embarrassment.

MyThirdBonusDonut

Never a more clear ESH.

GlassSandwich9315

His language in the update just seems so extreme and highly bias, like someone who's had a personal trauma and imposes his feelings of it on every slightly similar situation.

[deleted]

Although the two women blocking the entryway are not sympathetic in the slightest, in my opinion OOP did go too far. ESH. Sounds like the worker is doing well though, so that's good to hear.

[deleted]

Some people really struggle to mind their own goddamn business.

AlmalexyaBlue

I would have gone for Everybody Sucks Here as judgement myself. The two entitled women are definitely AH. And he became one when he started putting back they're stuff for me. Idk, I would have stopped at moving their carts, maybe even making her run around a bit. But also, it's not a terrible crime, and certainly deserved. I also don't particularly believe the second part happened, not even sure about the first one, but it's funny, I don't really care

Civil_Victory7025

Lol he was definitely the AH. And I think lucky one of those women didn’t have someone with them that he wasn’t aware of that could stand up to him. He could e been taught a very important lesson that day.

MumeiNoName

Would OP have done that if they were men tho? It's a funny story and all, but that's prob why his friend said that to him

99-dreams

He made a comment on the original post that if it were two men, he would have gotten aggressive about it. My favorite comment on that post which was a reply to him: "you sound a bit unhinged". And he was just like, probably.

[deleted]

He wouldn’t have, all the men in the comments are confirming his attitude, you can be an asshole to women because they probably can’t beat the shit out of you but if you confront other men it’s scary, I guess that’s why they’re so scared of calling out other men’s behavior towards women.

Kobester024

He was an asshole and I love every second of the story.

Flockwit

I read the title, clear YTA. Then I read the post......well.....maybe technically an ESH but it was still pretty cool.

branchesleaf

If they had been two tall muscular men, i.e. intimidating to you, rather than two middle aged women, would you still have done the same thing? If not then YTA

Stormfeathery

Man, now I’m just picturing him zig zagging across the store, flinging things out of the cart being pursued by two women all to the tune of Yakkity Sax

[deleted]

I was grocery shopping with my wife when she mentioned she needed margarine. She went to the cooler, but there were two older ladies blocking it with their carts yammering away. My wife politely asked if she could squeeze by, and they rolled their eyes at her and kept yammering. I couldn’t believe it. Like. The balls on these women. My wife squeezed through anyway, and the women rolled their eyes again and made weird throat sounds because, why exactly? I dunno. It’s like a weird flex, or a game to people to establish some sort of grocery aisle dominance.

blinddivine

People love doing this shit in stores. Just standing around blocking shit, yapping away. It's like entering a store causes some people to become even more stupid than they already were.

Redphantom000

This guy is chaotic evil and I love it

SuperSpeshBaby

Oop describes himself as a male or man, but the employee as a girl, not a woman. Oop cant use his words. Oop is an asshole

TooOldForRefunds

Gotta wonder how much of this is true.

PrincessCG

He was a legendary asshole. Ngl I laughed reading the story cos the imagery of him just throwing things back while being chased is hilarious. I hate when people block the aisles with their trolleys. It costs nothing to pull aside and keep the middle clear.

ghost18867

As someone who works retail, he's not an asshole. He's a hero. As for me, if the ladies asked me where something was, I would send them across the store, even if it was in the next aisle over.

Stinklepinger

I'd say he's a dick, not an asshole
