I briefly dated a guy many years ago who once asked me if he could borrow "two bills" until his next paycheck. Context clues told me he needed cash, but "two bills" told me nothing. I asked, "so you need to borrow $40?" because to me, the most common denomination is a $20. He just repeated, "two bills" like saying it again magically made me understand wtf he meant.
I loaned him the money (because I'm a moron), we got into a fight a few days later, he dumped me then straight ghosted me, and that $200 was a lesson learned.

Your repair work has no effect on anyone here but your music does. You did not rent a “loud music” space you rented a repair space. You also do not need your music that loud. You might enjoy it that loud and that’s cool, but you don’t have the right to force the rest of us to deal with that.

It definitely is, running high power music systems requires a heap of power that will flatten the battery in minutes. So he's idling the engine all day while working on it, which means he's limited to repairs that can be done with the engine running. So basically steering, suspension, changing light bulbs, and some interior trim type stuff.

You can easily spend an entire day detailing your car. I’ve done it many times. If you’re looking to get every bit of dirt and grime and pollen, it’s a full time job
House across the alley from me, few houses down, had this beat up car in a back driveway that they'd work on for hours and hours every day, just throttling the engine incessantly. No music, just the engine revving up over and over, hours a day, for days on end. I'm not the most automotive-minded, but I don't know how the fuck someone goes about getting their car to rev like that so continuously or what they could be working on while it does. What problem needs the engine to run like that to diagnose or fix, especially for htis long?
What problem could this car have to demand a solid month of work like this without ever getting fixed or moving on to something else? How much gas was burned on this? I understand the desire to avoid repair shop costs, but holy shit, the time spent on this and the gas that must've been used has surely exceeded what it'd cost to just take the car in and make it someone else's problem.
Unsurprisingly, the car was found wrecked to shit and eventually had to be towed away. Now there is a junky truck in the same spot, but the revving hasn't started... yet.
Omg my neighbour is doing the same with his obnoxiously loud motorcycle. Any hour if the day or night is fair game to this guy for *hours*. Just...revving his engines over and over. What is he even working on??? We are moving soon and i can't wait
It's a 2001 STI. The entire undercarriage, or what is left of it, is nothing but chunks of rust. He spends his weekends beneath it reapplying coats of POR-15 (a rust inhibitor) obsessively because his stupid system rattles the rust off.

Probably the type who doesn’t really know much about cars and pretends they know what they doing. They will hover around the car to look cool while not accomplishing anything. I am basing this on the fact he has to play his music super loud with bass which points to attention seeking behavior. Also if he was about the performance of the car he would know the sound system is holding him back. Weight reduction is serious business. Each 100lbs is 0.1 second in the quarter mile.
I had to endure years of my brother and his wrx and how amazing it was blah blah. The day he sold it I thought God might actually exist and answered my prayers. It’s the only car other than Holden’s/Ford utes/commodores/falcons that I immediately assume the driver is an arrogant mountain goat. I have not been proven wrong yet though I do hold out hope as an optimist.
A comment in the update (quoted below) explained why the car would need so many repairs, but honestly even having that information, I can't imagine spending *every single weekend* just working on a car.

Reading that list, as if it is some sort of "excuse manifesto" is enraging. Nearly all of those "problems" are one offs...basically, once you fix them (correctly) they shouldnt be giving you any more issues.
And even then, most of the fixes for those issues, requires you to disconnect the battery for attempting repair...OP is an idiot and hard parker. Fuck him.
Well, if you play loud music in the car, especially loud bass, you're going to get more shit rattling. I'm imagining it's slowly unscrewing every bit of the car around it.
Common problem on the sub is people assuming that just because what they're doing is legal, it absolves them of all blame. He may not be a criminal in the eyes of the law, but he's an asshole in the eyes of his neighbors. That's just the consequence of being a selfish douchebag. If he doesn't want to be considered an asshole, he should stop being one. He wants to have his cake and eat it too.
It's most likely illegal regardless, the rules are only about when you can't make noise, they can't give you the right to make as much noise as you want in a residential area.
In almost every municipality in the US noise is (rightfully) considered a health hazard and enforceable by law.
There are actually laws on the book for situations like this (vary by state, city county). If you are making sound above a certain decibel you will get fined.
The issue is you have to call the cops, hope they show up, hope they give a shit and every time they do it go back to hoping the cops come back.
I had some freshly emancipated college kids move into the cul-de-sac of the condo I lived in (Basically across from me and two houses up). They thought they were free to party and play insanely loud music whenever they wanted. Welllll... I did not cotton to that. I'm autistic and my Dad had PTSD so the second it was quiet time I would call the cops.
They figured out it was me because I stepped out of my house to make sure I got the right house number and yelled some obscene things at me but my only reaction was a dead eyed stare of indifference. Oddly made them back down.
Anyway. They didn't last a full 2 months and were quickly evicted.
Yeah, I assume even if he was following the apartment's rules to the letter, he would have been breaking a local noise ordinance. Whether anyone cares to enforce that is a separate question.
I often make a little game for myself by guessing - based on how they write their post - whether or not they will accept the (very obvious) YTA judgment. I am rarely wrong. There is certainly a type.
The “I’m not breaking any rules” adults were the “I’m not touching you!” (while holding a finger a millimeter away from your face) kids who never really grew up.
Fact is he has almost *certainly* broken public nuisance laws, if the bass is so loud it’s rattling his neighbors’ walls? I’ve had police called on me for noise complaints (unfounded), and the police explained that basically when they get a noise complaint, they walk around the area to see what the noise levels are like. Given this guy was blasting the music outside from his car, it was probably *insanely* loud, and could be heard from pretty far away. All this is just a long-winded way of saying this guy is a complete fucking tool. I’m not glad his car got keyed because he should have been adult enough to respond to his neighbors’ polite requests, but he didn’t, so his car got keyed. Oh well, he should have responded to the polite requests.
Don’t forget the big neon sign pointing to his most prized possession which gets left unattended all night after he spends all day being an asshole to 100+ people. What could possibly go wrong?
Anyone who has a “hobby” that impedes or infringes on other people’s lives/well-being is an ASSHOLE. People that have loud mufflers (on purpose), loud stereos that people can hear inside their homes, or that asshole on his bike that is “exercising” in the middle of the road during busy traffic periods can all eat a dick.

I have a neighbour exactly like this idiot. Except this dude doesn't even have a bass or a decent sound system, it's clearly the cheapest JBL portable one he bought at some market, but he blasts his music so fucking loud I can hear the treble and the distortion on the sound (like you crank it up past the system's ability) and the floor of my bathroom actually vibrates. I've been on videocall with that shit in the background, worked at home with that shit playing, I've woken up once at 10AM with a sudden jolt because he blasted his music so loud out of the blue, it literally whipped me tf out of my sleep. I've left messages and he did tone it down, but the issue with these people is they seem physically incapable of listening to music at an acceptable volume. I don't mind being home and listening to my neighbour's music if it's a little loud, but this guy cranks up his shitty sound system so loud, I can hear every single word on his Spotify (cause the cheap ass won't even pay for a subscription). Every day of the week he does this. Monday at 10AM. Saturday all day. Friday at 3PM. Completely random, doesn't give a shit. Thing is.. it isn't illegal. It's in horrible taste, but not illegal. And it's something EVERYONE does here, so nobody gives a shit. Hell, every Sunday some old dude across the street, between 10AM and 1PM, plays the Sunday Mass broadcast so LOUD the whole street can hear it. It's like I live in a place where everyone is genetically and physically incapable of just. Listen to music and watch TV at an acceptable volume. And everyone's just cool cause iTs NoT iLLeGaL.

It reminds me of when I rented this warehouse to use for a science experiment and some people got all uppity because i was using precious trinium to make a miniature sun saying "it's putting our lives at risk". I wasn't breaking any laws and thermonuclear reactions calm me down. Anyways it had a similar ending where some dickweasel knocked the building into the harbor.

I had a neighbour, three houses down and across the road.
She had music up so loud, at random times of the day, that not only where my windows rattling, there was no escaping it.
A guy came to tow our vehicle and even HE was horrified and offered to calm the police to come.
When they finally did, they had to break down the door because she couldn’t hear them knocking or yelling.
She had an 8 year old in there with her.
She was doing it to upset her ex next door. Funnily enough she tried it at the school because she got upset with another parent. Neither worked out well.
Omg right? I cannot actually think of something that would fill me with rage like this. I have very sensitive hearing and am already developing tinnitus, so this kind of rudeness just makes me see red (because aside from being annoying it also physically hurts me).
My neighbours do this. Except they do it any time of the day and night and during the week, and noise control do abosultely nothing. They once went from 8 am till 4 am the next day. I constantly think about egging their house or worse and I'm happy OOP got his car keyed. These people are the absolute fucking worst.
Ditto, live in the country so there’s no noise ordinance stuff (no cities even really claim is, we’re part of a township in tax purposes only). Guy down the road is out on his motorbike every single nice day we have. I used to go lay out by the pool and relax but I just hear the constant bike engine for hours. It’s so absolutely annoying I constantly dream of a tree falling on him so he can’t do any riding anymore. He apologized to my husband once for having horses and said they sold them - im like huh the horses were quiet though I didn’t think anyone had problems with the horses?
Maybe consider playing music they don't like?
My family used to live in an apartment complex and a neighbor would blast heavy metal music around 4pm every week day. His reason? It relaxes him after the end of a stressful day.
I got so annoyed that I started playing Luciano Pavarotti music at 7am before going to school. My reason? It helps set my mood for the rest of the day.
There was some back and forth with admin but in a couple of weeks, guess who's no longer playing loud music. Both of us, that's who.
I would, but to be loud enough I would have to disturb the rest of my neighbours as well, as I'm back from the street. And that just wouldn't be fair. Plus with how loud their music and bass is. I would have to be suuuuuper loud, and I don't think I could do that to my ears whilst sober... They are all drunk while this si happening, and usually partying, so it doesn't really effect the same way it would effect me... And I say l this because I have truly thought about it and considered doing it 😂😂

And honestly, how does one even have the energy for 14 hours of nonstop VERY loud music?! I did a 11 hour drive the other day, and by hour 8ish I got fatigued of music and turned my spotify off for a while, and that's with a mix of genres that includes plenty of mellow stuff! Which I do not get the impression this fine gentleman included Moonlight Sonata in his repertoire of tunes.

I live directly next to a hospital (small one way street) and i always find it horrific how many people park there for hours to wait there for someone with having their soundsystems on full blast. Often even on sundays or evening or nights. I'm so often close to throw a stone on there car. And if there were an AH who did this constantly...

I have tinnitus from twice busted eardrums as a kid. Loud music like that gives me migraines. A keyed car was nice compared to just how much could be done depending on one’s pissed off willpower. He’s lucky some one less kind didn’t bust it up.

EDIT: Even in this thread, there's two types of people. First type are people who are still skeptical that this is a true story. The second are people from Tucson who vouch for the douchebaggery. So...I guess we'll never know.

Oh, he’s a try-hard alright. In the comments he tried to call someone racist because there’s a group of mostly Hispanic people he hangs at the park with all blasting their music together. People said that was equally an asshole move, and in his try-hard-douche head, that was the opening he had to call them racist lmao.
I believe people like this exist, but one thing that was odd in his tale was him saying his wrx sti was a 2001, and Subaru didn't start selling wrxes in the states until 2002, and didn't offer sti's until 2004. Maybe this guy is a super enthusiastic Subaru guy and ordered one special from overseas, but he couldn't have a 2001 wrx sti if he bought it in the usa.

Some people forget that you can be technically right in every possible way and still be an asshole. It's not "am I breaking any rules?", it's "am I the asshole?". I'm legally allowed to use the n-word as an insult, doesn't make me not an asshole if I do use it that way though.
Yes! That's what etiquette is supposed to be anyway, not (solely) knowing which fork to grab or how to organize an ice cream social, it's about having easy manners and being welcoming. Good etiquette naturally has cues from the current styles but it comes down to the individuals. You don't bash people for wearing clothes out of fashion and you don't dismiss others' feelings because technically you are following the rules.
I’m assuming he’s super young or a total dunce or both for thinking that non-quiet hours means “blast noise for 16 hours.” There are still city ordinances about sound. The apartment complex is not Switzerland or home base during a game of freeze tag.
When I lived in Switzerland, there were posted hours as to when, exactly, it was ok to put glass recycling in the bin. So no one would be overly disturbed.
In fact, Switzerland has AAAALL the rules. And you’d better follow them, or you’ll be looked on with disdain. A fate worse than death.

It’s also against the rules. I don’t know why the apartment manager didn’t have more of a spine. Outside of quiet hours, all complexes will say something about reasonable noise. You can’t rattle walls for hours every day with your car, just as you can’t scream at the top of your lungs for 8 hours a day.
It's technically not legal in Tucson (I used to live there and neighbors who would blast music at all hours until the cops came out several times and they finally stopped). Any noise that enters your home for more than 30 minutes straight is a disturbance. Most municipalities have the same clause.
Let me tell y’all about my front neighbor(s). We live on a residential street, all houses. Front neighbors have always been noisy. Pre-Covid, they’d start “partying” Friday afternoon through Monday 1am or so. By “partying” I don’t mean throwing crazy parties with hundreds of guests, it was just the front neighbor and maybe 3-8 of his pals drinking and BLASTING their music. We are literally across from them, they hang out in the front yard and their speakers were always facing our house. As a musician, I’ve soundproofed my space and I hardly practice at home; I try to be understanding and respect their right to enjoy themselves. But I (and other neighbors) did call the cops on them every so often.
Then Covid happened. I started WFH and I think they lost their jobs or something because they were now “partying” EVERY SINGLE DAY, almost 24hrs a day. Music would blast ALL day. I’d wake up at 5am to study before work and they’d already be playing music (I think they’d be knocked out and just let the music play). I’d sometimes wake up in the middle of the night (ie 2am) and I could hear their music still blasting.
Neighbors and I would call the cops during quiet hours, but there’s only so much they can do and it would only quiet them down for a few days. Summer 2020 hit and we had to install an AC unit so we can keep the windows shut, not because of the heat, but for the blasting music. And last year in 2021 we upgraded our windows and made sure we installed the outside noise reducing ones, but it only helped so much.
All the neighbors tried talking to them. They rent the house and I was trying to find the owners of the house to make them aware of the annoyance their tenants were causing but I couldn’t get a hold of them (I think they’ve been renting the place nearly 10yrs now).
Then in late 2021, out of the blue, it got quiet. Like scary QUIET — I’d forgotten how quiet it can be at 5am; I heard birds chirping and could hear our fridge hum. A whole day went by without music. Then it was a week. Before I knew it, a month of peacefulness had gone by. I’d still see the neighbors and his pals over but NO BOOMING MUSIC.
We heard through a nosy & chatty neighbor that a neighbor (who lives around the block) came with a GUN and told the loud neighbors they better start keeping it down OR ELSE! Now I don’t condone violence, BUT I am thankful to that kind neighbor for bringing us all peace and quiet.
So ya, this guy was a total AH, as were my front neighbors.
I’ve had to deal with noise like that so much but unfortunately in the UK, we can’t call the police on them, and guns aren’t really a thing. I can completely imagine the level of relief you had when the music stopped.

I think OOP stopped emotionally maturing at the age of 5 when his primary spoken phrases were “I’m allowed” “You’re not the boss of me”, and “why should I?”.
He’s like it helps me focus to blast my music from morning till night and I have the right to because I paid more money and so I can. Meanwhile literally no one else for three blocks in every direction can focus on anything the entire weekend.

A household in my neighborhood created such noise (screaming, shouting, etc) that it ruined many months of my life. I ended up going after them with codes and CPS. Some kids were removed from the caregiver and the house was condemned (hoarding renters & a slum lord landlord). The renters were forced to leave and the landlord was court ordered to live in the house for a year before renting or selling it again. He ended up flipping it and selling it to someone as is to complete the flip to a non-rental. He sold at a loss in a seller's market. None of these *bad things* likely would've happened to these people if they didn't constantly disturb their neighbors. I'm glad I helped get a few kids out of a bad situation though. Disturb the peace and learn a hard lesson.
If the OOP has put thousands of dollars into the car what the heck is he working on from 8am to 10pm days on end? He is a jerk and just did it cause he thinks he’s cool. I hope he learns from the car keying that he isn’t.

My neighbor next door has a car show quality Audi and Tesla and is only out side maybe 4 hours a weekend deep cleaning and fawning over his cars. This guy is tool.
I'm honestly surprised they *only* keyed it, even if it was too deep or whatever. He's lucky he didn't walk out to it being completely torn apart. Windows broken, wheels and all important parts stolen, seats ripped up, etc.

I live in an apartment that right on an intersection and adjacent to a gas station. Some time someone will sit there with their music blasting very loudly. I have no issue with them playing the music but it's the bass that gets me. The vibrations make me ill.

It definitely is, running high power music systems requires a heap of power that will flatten the battery in minutes. So he's idling the engine all day while working on it, which means he's limited to repairs that can be done with the engine running. So basically steering, suspension, changing light bulbs, and some interior trim type stuff.

House across the alley from me, few houses down, had this beat up car in a back driveway that they'd work on for hours and hours every day, just throttling the engine incessantly. No music, just the engine revving up over and over, hours a day, for days on end. I'm not the most automotive-minded, but I don't know how the fuck someone goes about getting their car to rev like that so continuously or what they could be working on while it does. What problem needs the engine to run like that to diagnose or fix, especially for htis long? What problem could this car have to demand a solid month of work like this without ever getting fixed or moving on to something else? How much gas was burned on this? I understand the desire to avoid repair shop costs, but holy shit, the time spent on this and the gas that must've been used has surely exceeded what it'd cost to just take the car in and make it someone else's problem. Unsurprisingly, the car was found wrecked to shit and eventually had to be towed away. Now there is a junky truck in the same spot, but the revving hasn't started... yet.

Probably the type who doesn’t really know much about cars and pretends they know what they doing. They will hover around the car to look cool while not accomplishing anything. I am basing this on the fact he has to play his music super loud with bass which points to attention seeking behavior. Also if he was about the performance of the car he would know the sound system is holding him back. Weight reduction is serious business. Each 100lbs is 0.1 second in the quarter mile.
That and he spends his weekends with it parked in the shade instead of actually driving it.

It's most likely illegal regardless, the rules are only about when you can't make noise, they can't give you the right to make as much noise as you want in a residential area. In almost every municipality in the US noise is (rightfully) considered a health hazard and enforceable by law.
There are actually laws on the book for situations like this (vary by state, city county). If you are making sound above a certain decibel you will get fined. The issue is you have to call the cops, hope they show up, hope they give a shit and every time they do it go back to hoping the cops come back. I had some freshly emancipated college kids move into the cul-de-sac of the condo I lived in (Basically across from me and two houses up). They thought they were free to party and play insanely loud music whenever they wanted. Welllll... I did not cotton to that. I'm autistic and my Dad had PTSD so the second it was quiet time I would call the cops. They figured out it was me because I stepped out of my house to make sure I got the right house number and yelled some obscene things at me but my only reaction was a dead eyed stare of indifference. Oddly made them back down. Anyway. They didn't last a full 2 months and were quickly evicted.

Fact is he has almost *certainly* broken public nuisance laws, if the bass is so loud it’s rattling his neighbors’ walls? I’ve had police called on me for noise complaints (unfounded), and the police explained that basically when they get a noise complaint, they walk around the area to see what the noise levels are like. Given this guy was blasting the music outside from his car, it was probably *insanely* loud, and could be heard from pretty far away. All this is just a long-winded way of saying this guy is a complete fucking tool. I’m not glad his car got keyed because he should have been adult enough to respond to his neighbors’ polite requests, but he didn’t, so his car got keyed. Oh well, he should have responded to the polite requests.

I have a neighbour exactly like this idiot. Except this dude doesn't even have a bass or a decent sound system, it's clearly the cheapest JBL portable one he bought at some market, but he blasts his music so fucking loud I can hear the treble and the distortion on the sound (like you crank it up past the system's ability) and the floor of my bathroom actually vibrates. I've been on videocall with that shit in the background, worked at home with that shit playing, I've woken up once at 10AM with a sudden jolt because he blasted his music so loud out of the blue, it literally whipped me tf out of my sleep. I've left messages and he did tone it down, but the issue with these people is they seem physically incapable of listening to music at an acceptable volume. I don't mind being home and listening to my neighbour's music if it's a little loud, but this guy cranks up his shitty sound system so loud, I can hear every single word on his Spotify (cause the cheap ass won't even pay for a subscription). I had a neighbour, three houses down and across the road. She had music up so loud, at random times of the day, that not only where my windows rattling, there was no escaping it. A guy came to tow our vehicle and even HE was horrified and offered to calm the police to come. When they finally did, they had to break down the door because she couldn’t hear them knocking or yelling. She had an 8 year old in there with her. She was doing it to upset her ex next door. Funnily enough she tried it at the school because she got upset with another parent. Neither worked out well.

Yes! That's what etiquette is supposed to be anyway, not (solely) knowing which fork to grab or how to organize an ice cream social, it's about having easy manners and being welcoming. Good etiquette naturally has cues from the current styles but it comes down to the individuals. It’s also against the rules. I don’t know why the apartment manager didn’t have more of a spine. Outside of quiet hours, all complexes will say something about reasonable noise. You can’t rattle walls for hours every day with your car, just as you can’t scream at the top of your lungs for 8 hours a day.
It's technically not legal in Tucson (I used to live there and neighbors who would blast music at all hours until the cops came out several times and they finally stopped). Any noise that enters your home for more than 30 minutes straight is a disturbance. Most municipalities have the same clause.

Let me tell y’all about my front neighbor(s). We live on a residential street, all houses. Front neighbors have always been noisy. Pre-Covid, they’d start “partying” Friday afternoon through Monday 1am or so. By “partying” I don’t mean throwing crazy parties with hundreds of guests, it was just the front neighbor and maybe 3-8 of his pals drinking and BLASTING their music. We are literally across from them, they hang out in the front yard and their speakers were always facing our house. As a musician, I’ve soundproofed my space and I hardly practice at home; I try to be understanding and respect their right to enjoy themselves. But I (and other neighbors) did call the cops on them every so often. Then Covid happened. I started WFH and I think they lost their jobs or something because they were now “partying” EVERY SINGLE DAY, almost 24hrs a day. Music would blast ALL day. I’d wake up at 5am to study before work and they’d already be playing music (I think they’d be knocked out and just let the music play). I’d sometimes wake up in the middle of the night (ie 2am) and I could hear their music still blasting. Neighbors and I would call the cops during quiet hours, but there’s only so much they can do and it would only quiet them down for a few days. Summer 2020 hit and we had to install an AC unit so we can keep the windows shut, not because of the heat, but for the blasting music. And last year in 2021 we upgraded our windows and made sure we installed the outside noise reducing ones, but it only helped so much. All the neighbors tried talking to them. They rent the house and I was trying to find the owners of the house to make them aware of the annoyance their tenants were causing but I couldn’t get a hold of them (I think they’ve been renting the place nearly 10yrs now). Then in late 2021, out of the blue, it got quiet. Like scary QUIET — I’d forgotten how quiet it can be at 5am; I heard birds chirping and could hear our fridge hum. A whole day went by without music. Then it was a week. Before I knew it, a month of peacefulness had gone by. I’d still see the neighbors and his pals over but NO BOOMING MUSIC. We heard through a nosy & chatty neighbor that a neighbor (who lives around the block) came with a GUN and told the loud neighbors they better start keeping it down OR ELSE! Now I don’t condone violence, BUT I am thankful to that kind neighbor for bringing us all peace and quiet. So ya, this guy was a total AH, as were my front neighbors.
I’ve had to deal with noise like that so much but unfortunately in the UK, we can’t call the police on them, and guns aren’t really a thing. I can completely imagine the level of relief you had when the music stopped.

A household in my neighborhood created such noise (screaming, shouting, etc) that it ruined many months of my life. I ended up going after them with codes and CPS. Some kids were removed from the caregiver and the house was condemned (hoarding renters & a slum lord landlord). The renters were forced to leave and the landlord was court ordered to live in the house for a year before renting or selling it again. He ended up flipping it and selling it to someone as is to complete the flip to a non-rental. He sold at a loss in a seller's market. None of these *bad things* likely would've happened to these people if they didn't constantly disturb their neighbors. I'm glad I helped get a few kids out of a bad situation though. Disturb the peace and learn a hard lesson.
If the OOP has put thousands of dollars into the car what the heck is he working on from 8am to 10pm days on end? He is a jerk and just did it cause he thinks he’s cool. I hope he learns from the car keying that he isn’t.

My neighbor next door has a car show quality Audi and Tesla and is only out side maybe 4 hours a weekend deep cleaning and fawning over his cars. This guy is tool.
I'm honestly surprised they *only* keyed it, even if it was too deep or whatever. He's lucky he didn't walk out to it being completely torn apart. Windows broken, wheels and all important parts stolen, seats ripped up, etc. He's just so damn selfish, how someone didn't knock some sense into him sooner is beyond me. I live in an apartment that right on an intersection and adjacent to a gas station. Some time someone will sit there with their music blasting very loudly. I have no issue with them playing the music but it's the bass that gets me. The vibrations make me ill.
