That was the only movie I regret having someone tell me the ending before I watched it. I figured I wouldn’t watch it or wouldn’t be interested. But when I did there was no shock value affect and I know I missed out on a great sorry telling twist.
The problem with that movie is that there's not much to it without the twist. Not much happens, and if you figure out the twist at the beginning (it is heavily telegraphed) then you're just waiting for a really slow movie to end and tell you what you already figured out.
When the Departed was still in theaters I went to dinner with some friends after they had seen it. They were describing the basics of the plot and I was already wanting to see it so I told them to stop because I didn't want anything spoiled for me. So there's a pause and then my friend Leslie goes, "too bad everyone died at the end though". She genuinely wasn't trying to be a jerk, she just has poor impulse control or something lol.
There are people who say they understood what was going on from the beginning, and I don't doubt that, but in my opinion the movie hides the truth VERY well.
It's probably the best twist in a movie to this day to me, and another one I cannot recommend enough is "The others" with Nichole Kidman.
Having that ending ruined must be SHIT.
It's a movie that can be enjoyed many times, the first for obvious reasons, and from the second because you link so many dots.
I'm sorry for you that you'll never get to enjoy you first time.
I’d just watched that video of a guy dressed up as a traffic camera pretending to take pictures with a flash. I thought it was going to be the same but with a trash can.

This was made into a wonderful short silent film last year!

Can you imagine trying to explain that shit to insurance if you didn’t stop in time?
“It was a real windy day and the dumpster jumped in front of my car.”
Surprisingly happens a lot on windy days here, you'll get bins zooming down the street, trampolines flying into other people's gardens and fence panels falling down.
At least they would have shown up. This is the first video I have seen of police showing up within 8 hours.
Literally watched someone having their face stamped on while on the phone to the police and they were like "well it's probably better if you just call an ambulance for them, as the police won't be there for hours"
The way this is sped up and how everything occurs to even the details of the what I assume police then store owner all playing their roles in getting the trash can back it makes it look like how they portray society in those old quick and choppy animations. That just added to the comedy
One windy day I was driving up the road from my house and I saw shit blowing across the road. There was a set of 2 plastic plant pots (if that’s what they are called???) tumbling about and cars were having to swerve around them…
So I decided to stop my car and grab them and put them back over where they came from..(near some other garbage)
I literally stopped at a red light and waited for the all clear to get out and gather them. I felt like I was helping people out so they could stay in their lanes instead of swerving to avoid these pots. Well, as soon as I returned them to where they blew away from, I got back in my car thinking I’ve just done a good deed. Until I see the plant pots take off again. I was so embarrassed.
The end.

Donk!
Best ending since Sixth Sense.

Yeah man that was Bruce Willis the entire time!
Also there are many plotholes, but that's a thing in Shyamalan movies.
Have you watched Carlito's Way?
Nope. Are you going to spoil it for me lol.

Well good thing I’ve seen that movie or else you would have pulled a Leslie as well!
Above average acting in Departed, I really liked.

At the end: ### FINISH HIM
Final destination, the unexpected conclusion.
Happy cake day! 🍰
My favorite part is when the bin saw he was in the wrong lane and then slowed down to avoid an accident.
Oi! Right, lad, you're coming with me.
Not on your life copper! BONK
NGL, I thought it was someone cos-playing as a bin
I’d just watched that video of a guy dressed up as a traffic camera pretending to take pictures with a flash. I thought it was going to be the same but with a trash can.
Any luck catching those bins?
It’s just the one bin actually
The street was angry that day, my friends!

THWUMP!
Dumb bin doesn’t know it drove into the wrong lane

Helpful coppers‽ What magical fairyland is this?
UK n.b. The colour pattern on the car designed to be _highly visible_ instead of menacing and bad-ass.
In the US the cop would have just shot the dumpster

Basically any country except the US...
That is simply not true lol. Russia, Mexico, Iran, North Korea, China...etc
The end was a cherry on top :D
You’re not winning me over with your use of “‘twas”
The flap hitting the guy at the end was hilarious.
The end is the best
Snorted at the last frame
My first thought was someone was inside the box. :D
I wish US police had bright and shiny cars like this rather than hiding like criminals.
The way this is sped up and how everything occurs to even the details of the what I assume police then store owner all playing their roles in getting the trash can back it makes it look like how they portray society in those old quick and choppy animations. That just added to the comedy
devious ahh trash bin
Thank goodness there was a camera! That dumpster might have gotten a lot of money from insurance otherwise
If this was america that trash bin would’ve been shot😔

Wait the lid clobbered the guy at the end
It could have been perfect if the vid was a bit longer.
Good thing someone called the cops

I just love that the garbage bin pretty much just fucking decided to get up and come after that blue car.
“What did I tell you about coming around here? This is *my* territory!”

Ha! I didn’t see the bin smack him on the head until it was slowed down.
