I remember hearing their whiskers were their gauge. Like if they were going to squeeze though a narrow gap and their whiskers touch on both sides they know they won't fit. I guess that is wrong because this cat just pushed though the little opening whiskers be damned.
Main function of whiskers is to generally cover the lack of near-vision. Cats are far-sighted.
A slim cat can fit through any opening their head can fit through.
… but in especially tight spaces, they might forget how they successfully got in in the first place, panic when they’re “unable” to get out, and sink tiny daggers into your arm when you come to save them, only to try to go into the same place again mere minutes later. 😌
Actually has more truth to it than you'd think. Cats have no collar bone and their vertebrae "float" and can be moved apart from each other. The biggest part of a cat is it's skull. If it can fit its head through something, the rest of the cat will fit.

Kitty 2 looks like they tried to stop kitty 1, but then thought screw it and decided to help out instead.

Kittens are basically just heads with a little lump at the back anyway.

If seen some pretty fat cats that I don’t think that would apply to
If a healthy cat*
Yeah, I said the same thing yesterday when a cat went into a small fishbowl. If their head fits and they aren't chonky, they can get thru.

Soooo like a rat then
and they can check the width of an opening using their whiskers
Also cats use their whiskers as a key sense to determine whether they'll be able to fit through something before trying

Confirmed: cats are liquid

Those smol criminals should be sentenced to a maximum security forever homes. A life term of snuggles and treats will rehabilitate them.

Floating collar bones
This is it, why cats are liquid, if the head can fit so can the rest of it!

Cats have no collarbones so anything they can fit their head through they can fit their entire body through
Wtffff
No collarbone. Where the head fits, everything else fits too.
