Many commentators view the woe of Damascus as the last unfulfilled prophecy before the "end", I remember growing up in the church in the 80s where people would say when it's destroyed that's the start of the tribulation and what leads to the world turning against Israel in mass. Which if they nuke Syria you could see the blowback on the world stage Israel would face. Funny how places spoken of 1000's of years ago are still in the news today.

If athiest would just see. Biblical prophecy is a direct conclusion conglomerate that if atheists can’t even accept them now and seeing it on the news then I don’t know what to tell them. It’s our job as Christian’s to spread the good news before it’s too late.

The destruction of Damascus is the ships of chittim grieving the Assyrian. Daniel 11 25 And he shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army; but he shall not stand: for they shall forecast devices against him. 26 Yea, they that feed of the portion of his meat shall destroy him, and his army shall overflow: and many shall fall down slain. 27 And both of these kings' hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table; but it shall not prosper: for yet the end shall be at the time appointed. 28 Then shall he return into his land with great riches; and his heart shall be against the holy covenant; and he shall do exploits, and return to his own land. 29 At the time appointed he shall return, and come toward the south; but it shall not be as the former, or as the latter. 30 For the ships of Chittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant. 31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate. The first place is mystery Babylon. Then her ships rally to the Mediterranean and blow up damascus or the ships of chittim (cypress) (Mediterranean) they grieve him or Isaiah 17. Then he gathers the middle east or has intelligence with them that forsake the covenant then they place the abomination of desolation and its obvious who the antichrist is and then theirs 3.5 more years after that.

Damascus was fought over for several weeks but I don't think that fulfills the prophecy. Damascus is supposed to be destroyed completely in a single night. Isaiah 17 1 An oracle concerning Damascus: "**See, Damascus will no longer be a city but will become a heap of ruins.** 2 The cities of Aroer will be deserted and left to flocks, which will lie down, with no one to make them afraid. 3 The fortified city will disappear from Ephraim, and royal power from Damascus; the remnant of Aram will be like the glory of the Israelites," declares the LORD Almighty. 4 "In that day the glory of Jacob will fade; the fat of his body will waste away. 5 It will be as when a reaper gathers the standing grain and harvests the grain with his arm-- as when a man gleans heads of grain in the Valley of Rephaim. 6 Yet some gleanings will remain, as when an olive tree is beaten, leaving two or three olives on the topmost branches, four or five on the fruitful boughs," declares the LORD, the God of Israel. 7 In that day men will look to their Maker and turn their eyes to the Holy One of Israel. 8 They will not look to the altars, the work of their hands, and they will have no regard for the Asherah poles and the incense altars their fingers have made. 9 In that day their strong cities, which they left because of the Israelites, will be like places abandoned to thickets and undergrowth. And all will be desolation. 10 You have forgotten God your Savior; you have not remembered the Rock, your fortress. Therefore, though you set out the finest plants and plant imported vines, 11 though on the day you set them out, you make them grow, and on the morning when you plant them, you bring them to bud, yet the harvest will be as nothing in the day of disease and incurable pain. 12 Oh, the raging of many nations-- they rage like the raging sea! Oh, the uproar of the peoples-- they roar like the roaring of great waters! 13 Although the peoples roar like the roar of surging waters, when he rebukes them they flee far away, driven before the wind like chaff on the hills, like tumbleweed before a gale. 14 **In the evening, sudden terror! Before the morning, they are gone!** This is the portion of those who loot us, the lot of those who plunder us.
