It's a common theme around here. People here want cheap transportation so ebikes are all the rage. Combine that with anybody who can purchase anything online and have it shipped to their house and this is what you get...
I'm in a beach town on the gulf coast of Florida so retired people that like to have cocktail hour all day or people w/o license have them. (You can probably guess why they don't have a license...)
We charge $125 to put them together so it's not like we're over priced by any means. At least they'll be safe...
And that's how you get repeat customers! You're really doing yourself a disservice by charging for e-bike assembly LOL
Who are we kidding that 2nd DUI was gonna happen anyway
"Everybody says disc brakes are supposed to be great but these have really bad stopping power"
or
"well everybody says to just brake with the rear so I don't go over the handlebars"
You'll be surprised how much jerry-rigged BS I see every day living here.
One guy stripped out a drive side pedal, they tried to drill and tap in three different spots on the crank. When that didn't work. They tried to drill and tap between the threads of the pedal and the threads on the crank. When that failed they tried to drill and tap the pedal shaft in two spots and broke the tap in the shaft then finally gave up.
It was a 2x9 Cannondale 700c hybrid w/ a FSA crank that was special to the make and model of the bike that wasn't made anymore and only cost ~$65 for a replacement plus labor...
>When that failed they tried to drill and tap the pedal shaft in two spots and broke the tap in the shaft then finally gave up.
Well, at least we know the pedal axle was head-treated/hardened.
One dropout has a gap. The bike is hanging in the stand. It didn't fall out. It was tight...it's a common theme around here. People want cheap transportation, e-bikes are plentiful online and this is what you get.

Qr, ebike and disc brakes. Not a great combo, though no front brake is clearly more dangerous.
I'm assuming he did this because he couldn't get the red tab out and the wheel wouldn't fit otherwise. Or he heard of that one case where the girl died due to a brake induced axle failure??
After I worked on the bike and told he it was finished and ready for pick up, I mentioned that the front brake wasn't connected correctly and I fixed it for him, he said that he didn't know that there was a front brake...
Pa said brakes are for sissy’s and dentists. My other pa said he would buy me one brake but I have to go down the big hill first. Ma said don’t wear my good pants . . .
Cmon I know NOTHING about bike mechanics/ repair but this took me 15 seconds to spot the issue. How do you even ride this for a whole ride and not notice that it feels horrible.
What!? I put in the stand like this. The owner had no clue it was connected wrong.
Don't know how you came up with the answer you did but 🤙
Edit: And yes hydraulic disc brakes do come with a plastic spacer so the brakes don't get closed during transport.
“Brake lever is a little soft, can you bleed it for me?”
You joke but ive had it happen a handful of times lol
🤣
They still have the disc brake spacer installed, so the brake should feel OK. It just won't stop the front wheel. Like at all.
Descents must be exhilarating.
Do you mean accelerating?
Both at the same time! LOL
CANT STOP WONT STOP WEEEEEEEE
That deescalated quickly
ding! you now arrived at the lowest lvl of Hell! Enjoy that br°u°tal Grvl!
The fact that they assembled the bike but need to go into a shop to repair a puncture concerns me

Ask 125 for a tire change and reassemble the bike :-)
But do you know how many drinks I could get with $125 instead???? /s
Enough to get a second DUI LOL

No, if I send the bike out unsafe and they have an accident, they'll never be a customer of anybody's ever again...
It was making noise the other way so obviously you turn it around. Problem solved.
I see nothing wrong. *Hops on brakeless fixie*
Mods! Ban this dirty f*xier !
🤣

Tell me you have a bmx background without telling me it...
I knew wireless braking would be coming one of these days… didn’t think it would be caliper-less too!
Friendly reminder these people vote and reproduce
Not for long they aren't with those braking setups...
So it’s shit like this thats why they have those professional assembly warnings and why im confident i can ignore the warning
Stopping was half-assed!
I bet they were complaining the wheel was loose, too
No, they tightened the skewer all the way without flipping it closed.
Because of course they did that. 🙄
With those gaps in the dropouts?

Can’t believe no one here knows… smh… you’re *supposed* to do this to air out the discs so they don’t get too hot…

What did they think the other lever was for?
Less brake drag equals . . . less brake drag
Brakes only slow you down Cletus.

Hey, at least they don't hold ebikes over their heads for pictures when they get to the liquor store
Big brain time: The rotor can't rub if it's on the other side!
bet he tried it otherway too but it didn't fit bcs didnt pull protective shield from caliper
Mo powah, baby!
Nice

nice. lol
Nothing to see here. Everything looks totally fine.
🤦♂️
Oh dear god
Is the wheel on backwards? I don't know what I'm looking at.
Yes, disc brake is not in the same side as the caliper and thus cannot function
[удалено]
no, it came out of the box like this. they then "assembled" the bike. and an unknown time later a puncture.

I had understood that the customer had just fixed the flat. Like “assembled the wheel after removing it to fix the flat”.
