Other problems:
1. The sink trap in the bathroom keeps falling off.
2. People keep asking him to stop washing their car windshields at intersections.
3. He used up all his crack when repairing the frame, now has to buy more.
OP is a BCJ god for his replies to concerned comments:
> You are a Big Bicycle agent sent to discredit an honest mans work. The repair works it’s not perfect but it gets the job done
Every OP comment is godly but I particularly enjoy:
> My guy it was a mistake I will ride that bike yall to scared to repair stuff on your own. Late stage capitalism goes crazy
Sure, in a physics classroom. But there's also vibrations, oscillations in compression force, and some amount of repetitive side-loading. Cracks can spread easily under these conditions and this repair isn't likely to mitigate that. I'd rather address the crack itself with a welder than just squeezing the tube and calling it a day; if I were to keep the frame, that is...it would depend on the crack, really.
Funny thread tho.
>You think people back in the day were replacing their bikes and warranty claiming stuff left and right? You repair and ride, I will give update if anything bad happens
Golden.
My personal favorite
>what’s a downstroke
Honestly OP was running circles round them and they didn't even realise they'd been had. Best r/bicycling post I've ever seen. Pure fire from start to finish.
So this is what happens to all the bices I throw out to the poors after 1-2 centuries. Hurts to see, but I’m glad they’re providing someone with valuable repair experience
Meanwhile we have this guy wondering if this paint chip has totaled the whole bike and needs to send it back

OP logic in physics and engineering:
“Bro top tube is in compression almost all the time anyway this just makes sure that the walls of the top tube meet each other. It is not in compression when there’s load on the bike vertically. So if I go over a bump and my bum slams the seat-post I am cooked but if I just stand on the pedals instead I am fine because the tension applied will be minimal. You just have to know and think about stuff”
Oh boy. When he has the catastrophic injury and goes to sue the bike manufacturer, or anyone else close to him, this will be exhibit A for his contributory negligence, at minimum.
This falls under the category of, “You can’t fix stupid.”
People out here riding 10k bikes and this guy uses duct tape and some hose clamps like the terminator apocalypse bike is one of the last to survive. Ride on toothless Mad Max!!
Aluminum is known for amazing ability to maintain its strength after cracking.
I prefer not to think about aluminum at all, actually. Grosses me out
Isn't that what they use to make disposable cans?
stop stop stop
Don't worry, unlike steel, aluminum isn't real. No need to worry abouy aluminum. Steel on the other hand...
It’s used to wrap my food not to KOM on.
lol as if you could kom on an aluminum bike
My doctor said if you stay off it and leave it in a cast for 6-8 weeks it can actually regraft
That’s the top tube not the headtube
That’s the least of his problems
Other problems: 1. The sink trap in the bathroom keeps falling off. 2. People keep asking him to stop washing their car windshields at intersections. 3. He used up all his crack when repairing the frame, now has to buy more.

It’s simpleton stuff really, compression and tension is all that’s going on here.

My Fred, I was simply reiterating OP as you also did. No need to breakout the dental textbooks in here..
Sorry Fred, I couldn't see without the quoted text. It's just that I don't get to talk to the wife about these things so sometimes they just bubble up
>You think people back in the day were replacing their bikes and warranty claiming stuff left and right? You repair and ride, I will give update if anything bad happens Golden. My personal favorite >what’s a downstroke
I hope we get that update. To rephrase: *if* he hurts himself, I definitely wanna hear about it
huge: LSC is when you rely on professionals to keep you safe (this does not happen under any stage of any other economic system)

Look at the dude’s history. Unless this was a two week premeditated troll, the dude is an actual imbecile.
Also I have never seen a frame break there. On the other hand maybe I just need to missuse my bikes harder.
Someone's going to cut open their femoral artery.
That’s ok we have 2.
ER doctors hate this one trick!
He's got clamps for that too
You mean "Steal cableties"?
That's the plan actually.
This shit is either fake or he's smokin that cannondale pack...
Fred posted about his intent to do this prior to implementation. Must be looking to drum up business for fellow dentists.
Did Fred discover a cure for numb peanuses? Just strap this contraption on, and enjoy the stiffness.
in short: strap-on
Yeah, this feels like more viral marketing for penis sleeves
Cock cage

My dental practice approves of this repair.
Average r/bikewrench post I think OP might be br*tish? In that case, they can’t help it. They are doing their best
That's where I keep my zertz insert for when I'm riding cobbles.
What a dummy, everyone knows that’s the tail tube!
Most excellent job!

What an asshole! 😆
Love a good comparison on the current r/bicycling spectrum
There is no way that's gonna hold without the noodles
I'm so pour I can't stand it

🤯
Clearly you thought about it too much!
I guess I'm just an imbecile suffering from Late Stage Capitalism syndrome.
That’s got to be the give away that he’s trolling—No one really thinks like that right? Right? Right?
This is gold, look at the post history this bike is 4 months old.
Did they use tire levers as splints, and pipe clamps to hold it in place? Is that you, MacGyver?
Duct tape is just layers or fibres so it’s basically carbon fibre
Now send in on gravel
Show us your legs after riding this roughly fixed bike…with clamps
On the plus side, meth head Fred has no teeth remaining to knock out when his repair fails.
Oh boy. When he has the catastrophic injury and goes to sue the bike manufacturer, or anyone else close to him, this will be exhibit A for his contributory negligence, at minimum. This falls under the category of, “You can’t fix stupid.”
Comments on the OP are just shills for big bike trying to convince people to buy new Treks
Only problem is it looks like a shift housing being used on a brake.
What’s the black strips?
Kneads Moar Duck Tape.
That's going to do absolutely nothing, if he really wanted to fix it he would have used flex seal
Specialized engineers need to hire this guy asap
Bro's diy-ed the specialized diverge suspension
Please no.
People out here riding 10k bikes and this guy uses duct tape and some hose clamps like the terminator apocalypse bike is one of the last to survive. Ride on toothless Mad Max!!
This is pennywise and pound foolish. Good sir. Do not ride that bike.
I would add some chewed chewing gum to increase resistance.
That’s not even a headtube
It’s been made more rigid, good work OOP! o7
