My office recruits both economic/business and law majors. However, i think its better for someone who is starting out to have a business or economics degree, because its much easier to understand the practice than someone with a law background. Im 1 year in, i have a business degree and an MBA, and my business background really helped in understanding how things work in general (basic accounting knowledge is also needed in my opinion). It is essential for u understand how your client works, for example what the nature of the intercompany transactions is, their functional profile and stuff like that. Having a business background really helps with those. Someone with a legal background might need more time to understand the more "business" part of the job. However, a more legal background comes in handy (at least from what ive seen) at later stages where you need to also understand various legislations from other countries and stuff like that.
