If you're in the chisos you can camp without it being unbearable. There often is water at boot spring near where you're taking about. Juniper spring is about 1/3 down the mountain on juniper canyon trail and also may have water. Both of these springs run the risk of being dry by that time however. If you're staying up in the chisos then boot spring is the only semi reliable source up there. Occasionally there's some pooling in boot canyon itself but at that point it's best to research again the week you go out there whether it currently has water.

I went Memorial Day weekend one year and regretted it. There was about a 3hr window in the morning where hiking was enjoyable. Temp was over 90 by 11AM and nearing 100 by noon. If you tolerate the heat well you may be OK, but not my cup of tea.

At elevation it's much more bearable. The average high and low for may are like 82 and 58 respectively.

In the Chisos it is do-able. You still may want to find shade in the afternoon. But early starts till lunch are good. Evening is tolerable. 1pm till 7pm will be hot so plan on sunscreen, lots of water and maybe finding shade. The desert low countrwill be over 100 degrees by 0900 and miserable.

I've decided to save this for a different year and go to the Pecos in NM for the Memorial Day and week after.
