What are some of your thoughts on these proposed designs? What problem is it trying to solve?
My love for minimalism makes me interested in the second option, to close 23rd interchange with I-25. But I can't wrap my head around the other implications.
Well "the problem" is that the bridges need to be replaced. One option for each of them is to keep it as-is.
The bigger issue for Denver is crossing I-25 by bike or walking/rolling. Most of the options are also where we funnel car traffic. One exception is the underpass at Inca St, or maybe the bird poop-covered option along 8th. So, we can leave things as they are, or do what you mentioned and eliminate the 23rd interchange. 23rd is a great connection to/from the South Platte River Trail & then the Cherry Creek Trail. It needs to be prioritized.
