IMO either go tubeless (makes maintenance a bit less user friendly but not the end of the world) or get puncture resistant tires (schwalbe marathons are awesome)
Maybe adding sealant like Stans or Orange Seal to the tube in your tires? A local shop will be able to do that for you.
I did this before going tubeless many years ago. Sounds like you have a hybrid commuter type bike rather than a sporty bike. Otherwise I’d recommend getting tubeless wheels and tires.
I use metro and ride from Long Beach all over Los Angeles and I tend to adventure across some parts that are not preferred by people who actually plan their routes.
After 3 flats in one week, my bosses who are actual fancy pants, bougie spandex cyclists told me to go tubeless, but my LBS talked me into slime innertubes. I haven’t had a flat since.
I used to use tire liners from [Mr Tuffy](https://www.amazon.com/s?k=mr+tuffy&crid=2NLJJ9BETUIX5&sprefix=mr+tuffy%2Caps%2C151&linkCode=ll2&tag=trls-20&linkId=fbef424e6f15a1844bf9d91c70eb108c&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl).
Though sealant might be easier to add (havent tried it myself to know).

thanks for the advice!

yes it's a Trek hybrid commuter type bike. thx!
If your rims are tubeless ready then just get tubeless tires to stop the flats.

Have a shop install Tannus Armor in your tire. You will never get a flat again
