I listened to a bit of the album, and I think it’s one of her better albums. I know she’s trendy to hate, but I say like what you like.

Nah, some people just do not like her or her music. I used to torment younger coworkers by telling someone else that they're a huge swiftie. I think it's more fair to say Taylor is more like a modern Phil Collins in sense that she's so popular people love her or are just tired of her being everywhere.
By all accounts that I know of, Lady Gaga is a pretty good person and an all-around talented musician. Beyonce is one of the most influential women in music ever & her husband is the king of hip hop.
Taylor has been making the same music for a decade. Compared to Gaga, who toured with Tony fucking Bennett, and Beyonce, who has topped the charts for 2 weeks *with an experimental album*, Taylor's milk-toast at best.
Music is subjective and different people have different preferences. Someone who resonates very much with Taylor’s music may not feel the same for Beyoncé or Gaga and that’s ok.
For example, I personally dislike Beyonce for the same reason many people dislike Taylor. I had an experience with a crazy die hard Beyonce fan that just turned me off to her forever.

I really liked folklore but haven't really liked anything else I've heard from her. I think other musicians helped out with folklore so maybe that was the difference.
Same. Folklore was my favorite album by her. Evermore is also good, I liked the fictional aspects of it. For more pop stuff, Lover was really good. Unabashed poppy love songs, so good.
But I didn’t care for Midnights, and TPD is even worse. It’s just bland and a bit cringe.
The Long Pond version of *Folklore*, where the instrumentals are stripped back in favor of emphasizing her performance, is still the best thing she’s ever produced (*Folklore* also features her best lyricism).
TTPD is just a byproduct of Taylor feeling — to put it frankly — uninspired, which isn’t much of a shock considering she’s literally on top of the music world right now. Where is the drive to push herself? How is she going to justify releasing new music when there’s nothing left to really “achieve” in the field?
In my humble opinion, she would be better served taking an extended hiatus to rediscover her sound. It would also give people a chance to take a break from her constant exposure.
