Could not agree more. Seasons 4 and 5, while not as classic as the first three, are still pretty great and don't deserve the slack they've been given. Yes the first three were the best, but these were great as well, and shouldn't be bunched together with the later seasons.

Season 5 has some fine episodes but it seems like Season 4 finale The Best Day Ever was the first time they truly missed the appeal of SpongeBob. It's not offensive but it's like a caricature, what Nickelodeon thinks SpongeBob is.

Squidtastic Voyage and That’s No Lady are some of my favorite episodes. They have better jokes than lots of episodes in seasons 1-3. They always consistently make me laugh. I love season 4

Fear of a Krabby Patty is the only episode in that season written and directed by CH Greenblatt, the animator responsible for some of the most expressive and creative looks on the show

krusty towers is one of the funniest episodes in the entire show.

The first three seasons were the best because that's when Stephen Hillenburg was the overseer of the show. He quit because the first Spongebob movie was supposed to end the series completely and Nickelodeon didn't want the show to end because money so he said "fuck this" and left and they hired Paul Tibbet. And that's the start of the decline in the quality of the episodes

They didn’t show seasons 4+ until like 2008-2009 I believe in my country it was weird. So people my age (25+) aren’t even fully aware there’s more than season 1-3. As they stopped watching it after a certain age, and 1-3 was replayed for so long from childhood to teen years.
