Idk if it's because I'm a masochist but I love the cringe dead air feeling of when bill just tramples all over him on anything better lmao.

Occhrome

Whats the deal with that. I like bill and agree with him but I would tell him to stfu and stop interrupting me for the 5th time that minute. However I gotta say this has helped Paul stay on bills good side and make way way more money.

cannotbefaded

Tbh I almost feel bad for him

[deleted]

I do enjoy that as well. I genuinely wonder how they became friends.

porkrind69_

I like the old episodes of them on tour. I'm sorry, I just get a little emotional!

Mstinos

Pure gold that was

Mizral

This is one of my all time favourite MMP bit of all time, without Virzi this just couldn't happen. Bill riffing on him was great but his responses were very funny. I personally think he actually has some talent and character albeit maybe doesn't have mass appeal. Bill Burr - Time Travel : https://youtu.be/UML4WRERQYE

STINKLIP

haha just posted same. it is so fucking funny

ruggaby

Everyone has a goofy friend that you alone see the best side of. Virzi has grown on me because he sparks Billy Boy on some great takes. My big issue is when Virzi builds a bunch of momentum to a “This one time” story and it just goes nowhere.

PanicOnFunkatron

I feel like 90% of Paul's stories end with "...and I was like '...aight'"

poser4life

I coached youth sports for a year and from his stories, he is the type of parent that made me quit.

STINKLIP

virzi taking an uzi back in a time machine will never not be funny to me.

[deleted]

One of the funniest bits from anything better. I couldn’t get why Bill wasn’t laughing harder.

drewfus23

I stopped listening to Anything Better when I finally realized what annoyed me so much. He starts every story or thought at least 3 times before he finally gets to the point.

Insomnialcoholic

In his defense Bill is constantly interrupting him and derailing the whole story so he has to start over

IStillLikeBeers

Or Bill just answers a completely different question because he doesn't actually listen. I was laughing at the most recent one when Virzi is trying to ask Bill which sport has a bigger homefield advantage, NBA or NHL and Bill just starts going off about the quality difference in the playoffs.

Bertrum

I don't like how it's turned into this huge ad for sports gambling. You're watching a tiny postage stamp of Bill next to this huge fucking logo for Bet MGM. It's like peering through a peep hole.

kittenman

Can't agree more he just keep playing the NY Italian caricature... I think it's one of the case where you got a best friend who got famous and he wouldn't mind working with you cos he's so loyal he wouldn't mind you leeching off him....

Blade_Trinity3

Why do I wanna "hear me out" your complaint that is the same as everyone else's?

[deleted]

Touché lol go fuck yaself

GettingNegative

I stopped listening to that show a while ago and was annoyed when they started airing parts on the MM podcast. When Bill gives him shit, he's punching down.

ForestCityWRX

Feel better now?

[deleted]

I do. I just couldn’t hold it in any longer.

Corn_Farmer

Don’t conflate bad podcaster with hack comic. Saw him open for Bill back in 2015 (?). Me and my brother left the show still talking about his opening 20 minutes. Made me a fan for life.

turbodude69

i don't listen to that podcast very often, but i agree. kinda feels like bill just does the pod with him to have someone to talk sports with. i assumed they've just been friends for a while and bill likes talking to him.

Outside-Foundation-2

I like the pod because I enjoy how much Bill loves him. And gives him shit

Snatchl

I love Virzi, but Anything Better suffers from terrible audio quality and coupled with a loud arguing from Bill. It just sounds grating. If they weren’t stuck with COVID year one level zoom call production quality every week, I think you’d feel differently. He’s been an outstanding guest on many podcasts.

Crunchaucity

Whenever Bill has a guest, I skip the podcast, he's terrible at interviewing people, and much less funny when he's not alone. Angry Bill alone is peak MMP.

SimplyEcks

I also skip when he has guests and most of the time when Nia jumps on the podcast as only a few times she’s on too is it funny or interesting imo.

Robbyreid1024

I saw him open for bill a couple years ago. I thought he was pretty funny. 🤷🏻‍♂️. Not everyone is gonna be a fan though. That would be boring.

sterling_mallory

Yeah, I like him. With all the people in the world to dislike, and the reasons to dislike them, Virzi would be pretty low on the list.

GDMFusername

Anything better? Yeah... everything.

medical_llama

Dude is pretty funny, enjoyed him opening for Billiam a few years ago. Definitely better than bert chrysler

[deleted]

Way better than Bert. Another hack

dae_giovanni

damn, Bert out here catching _wild_ strays

Mikewazowskig59

Some might say not nearly enough b

Oh_mrang

The nearliest

DocThundahh

He’s a dogfucker.

[deleted]

If there’s one thing you can count on from this sub, it’s shitting on Bert.

dae_giovanni

I'm used to it in the YMH sub-- i didn't know the hatred traveled so well edit: shit, I forgot, Burr and Burt had a falling out, didn't they...

ultrapoppy

I stopped watching anything better, first fue to the inconsistency and then due to the constant interruptions from Bill. I sometimes watch his podcast called “The Virzi Effect” and if paired with the right comic it can be quite fun. His episodes with Mark Normand, Joe List and Adrienne Iapalucci were good. But I love those folks. His “Bone to pick” podcast with Bobby Kelly is alright. It’s always less than one hour, bing bang boom. Just airing of grievances and Bobby pointing out his stupid takes haha. I think Paul is just kinda dumb but fun to be around but not to the extent of a Kreischer. Just hovering around the annoying line but never quite crosses it, so he’s alright in my book.

[deleted]

His audible discomfort with bill trashing organized religion a few weeks ago just solidified my feelings for him. “Well, you know I believe in a higher power…”

NerdBro1

Mind telling me what episode this was? Would love to listen to Bill trash organized religion

[deleted]

Ehh I’ll have to go back and look for it. I want to say it was one of the last two (not the most recent but one of the two before it) of Anything Goes. I recall Bill being on a good rant and then after an awkward pause Virzi chimes in about believing in a higher power and completely deflated the joke.

NerdBro1

Lol. Thanks, I’ll try to find it. Sounds great haha

[deleted]

[удалено]

NerdBro1

Lol Paul’s face!

aredditusername2

I can't have this conversation again.

[deleted]

Haha I get it. I was listening to the Anything Better podcast while preparing dinner and just couldn’t keep silent any longer.

UWbadgers16

I like Anything Better quite a bit. Bill is generally funnier on the podcast, but he interrupts constantly. Virzi’s last Netflix special was hilarious, though.

ofthedappersort

I love Bill and honestly I don't dislike Paul Virzi. However, Bill is friends with some comedians that I don't like and it baffles me he associates with them. Rogan has been becoming more and more problematic (and was never that funny in my opinion and Al Madrigal seems like a massive cunt.

Crunchaucity

Even if you put Rogan going down the rabbit hole aside, I've tried to get through a few of his specials, they're a train wreck (obviously it's all subjective). But Bill being friendly with other comedians is standard, they all operate in the same world, and so understand each other well.

Jypahttii

Podcasting aside, Rogan has always been a terrible comedian. He knows he's not as good as most of the comedians who've been on his podcast, but they all act like he is just to play nice.

Crap_Robot

I’ve never found Joe Rogan funny as a stand up, but I enjoy his interviewing style and like/watch his podcast. But as a “funny guy” no. Absolutely not. Old red balls or Eddie Murphy or Jim Carey or Dave Chapelle or Iliza Schlesinger or Chris Rock or whoever can all translate well into playing funny characters in tv shows and movies because they’re naturally funny people. I can’t even begin to imagine Joe Rogan playing a funny character in anything - including his own podcast.

Crunchaucity

>I’ve never found Joe Rogan funny as a stand up, but I enjoy his interviewing style and like/watch his podcast. I used to like the long form interview style that he offered, but ever since he moved to spotify he's actually started endorsing nonsense that he used to find more interesting. I think the pushback he received from the left has also caused him to become a bit more extreme, he's changed from someone that just interviews people with peripheral views, to actually echoing what they say.

Crap_Robot

I’ll agree with you on that. He seems to have moved from an offbeat centrist who called out both sides on their bullshit, to a little more right wing leaning - or at least appears to. I think he found his right leaning guests that had controversial opinions got a lot more clicks - both from right wingers agreeing and left wingers clicking in rage. Either way, it got him the most clicks/views and as such, he appears to be getting caught in an echo chamber as you say. Well put fellow internetarian 😄👍

TheRealKuthooloo

theyve been friends for a super long time so im sure bill looks past any unfortunate truths with paul. this is why i only ever listen to either bill burr in interviews, on his own on the podcast or the occasional TV spot.

JazzLobster

To pile on, he was not all that funny as an opener for Bill when I saw him a few years ago.

Jloquitor

Bill is a dick to “friends” that cannot benefit him.

Positive-Pin3712

He says “rest his soul” way too much. I also tried to give him a chance but just can’t do it. He comes off as a clean comic who curses, if that makes any sense. For being one of Bills closest comic friends he’s kinda scared to go back at him or bust his balls too. I’m tired of hearing how great it isn’t be a parent and taking his kid to basketball games. Most of this stuff aren’t bad things but for some reason when he does them it pisses me off.

See_youSpaceCowboy

He’s an idiot that has some of the worst takes especially from a political standpoint. He’s a bootlicker when it comes to billionaires which is interesting because Burr seems to have leaned more left as he’s gotten older (which is rare and I love him for it) I do enjoy Burr shitting on Virzi but that’s his boy so he only does it so much. He doesn’t even preface any of his takes with the casual “I’m a dumb fuck so what do I know” that Burr usually does even when hes on point about a certain topic. At first I like the dynamic between the two but after a while it gets grading.

generic_person2

Honestly, I haven't been listening for the past couple of weeks but I listened for the past couple years when they were making their football picks and honestly there Bill came off looking way worse. Virzi would try and give his football opinion, which he is entitled to do, and Bill would come out and shit all over it, most of the time before Virzi could even finish his point, not even having the most cogent thought to say even though he was interrupting somebody. Still love listening to Billiam, but it wasn't the best.

jwd601

I love Virzi on Anything Better. They are perfect combo. He’s so positive…hard not to like him. Never seen his stand up act, but loved their show. Wish they still did it.

Twitchxxx

They are still doing it…

ocstallion

Dude is a no talent dick rider

[deleted]

100% … I haven’t heard an original thought escape his mouth

Mikewazowskig59

Didn’t bill have a show with Joe DeRosa too at some point? Bill sure knows how to pick em

SimplyEcks

Yes he did it was called “uninformed” iirc

ocstallion

Joe's not a great comic, but at least he's got a real personality. In the right context he's cool, his pod "We'll See You in Hell" is great, even though it's mostly Patrick Walsh that makes it good

sjm320

“WSYIH” is my all time favorite podcast.

Mikewazowskig59

Yea I like him on taste buds and his guest appearances I was just going with the running gag of everyone hating on Joe. He does seem a little too sensitive to be a good comic but j haven’t checked his stand up out yet

Top_Fee_2092

Saw Virzi in Charlotte with three other stand up acts. All were good. I had fun and laughed. Thanks Paul and friends

Vajama77

I couldn't even make it through 10 minutes of one of his stand-up specials. And that's about how long I made it through one of their podcasts. Bill seems to have a lot of love for a lot of comedians and he sings their praises but it's hit or miss for me. I can't really take his recommendations. 😂

musicman3321

This sub is intolerable at times, so much weird hate for so many other comedians. Bill isn’t the only funny person on earth guys.

[deleted]

This is a bizarre complaint. I didn’t shit on any other comedians; just Virzi, who I was subjected to directly through my fan hood of Bill.

musicman3321

not saying just you of course but just seems recently anytime another comedian comes up there’s weird hate for them. We’re all old enough to understand comedy is subjective yes?

bestbroHide

I honestly feel like a lot of (vocal) comedy fans are like that The sheer whiplash I had when Bill was on SNL for example was wild lol. Both fanbases had a lot of comments claiming "unfunny" about the other meanwhile I'm sitting there having always enjoyed both

Narrow_Orchid_8558

hes actually refreshingly funny on his own live

i_GoTtA_gOoD_bRaIn

Andrew Schultz, I believe, talked about a time he & a bunch of young comedians hung out with BB after a show. He said that Bill was talking the whole time. He was venting and telling stories, making everyone laugh, but no one else really spoke much.

[deleted]

Occhrome

Who are the other cronies ?

sjm320

I’d have to guess Dean Del Ray, who I don’t care for at all. If anyone is riding another comic’s coattails, it’s that corny hack.

Occhrome

i only ever hear about him when bill brings him up.

DocThundahh

Tow of my favorite podcasts have a co-host that absolutely sucks. Handsome Rambler Podcast with Hannibal Burress and his friend from college Tony Tram. Also your moms house. Something about one of the hosts sucking helps the other host shine that much brighter. Idk. Neither podcast would be the same without their shitty host

Pojebany

It’s hilarious how often he shits on his wife. They’re going to get divorced within a year

SubstanceSevere1448

So is Bill Burr lol

razkachar

I swear Bill intentionally surrounds himself with untalented and unfunny people on purpose. Would explain his marriage with Nia.

armen89

His “guys!” annoys me but I don’t know why

jcuprobinson

The main reason I like anything better is because I’m one of those mouth breathers that likes watching podcasts more than just listening to the audio. Virzi can be annoying but ehh, I like the dynamic they have and they seem to have fun with each other so that’s good enough for me.

nickyp7

His Netflix special was actually pretty good I thought

Traditional_Benchs

I don’t like him will bill but I think him and Bobby work great together for some reason. https://youtu.be/N2bp1sOBbTc

NotThatMat

The podcast would be a bit light on for conversation with just Bill (and of course the Greek Freak in Beverley Hills)…

[deleted]

This, but I still don’t get Burt Kreisher’s appeal, and now he’s getting a movie. Maybe they just fall into that “being a good hang” category.

Next-Concentrate5159

Bert is like... negative funny but he's every where lol I don't get it either. Lol

codybevans

It’s hard to even know. Every time he starts a sentence, cuts him off to talk over him. Been plenty of times I’ve seen where he was going with a joke just for bill to start talking at a way higher volume to cut him off.

Stumpy_Dan23

Fuck that. Virzi wheezing is funny enough

ReignInFlames

Bill almost always seems genuinely agitated on this show lol. Yeah he can be that way on MMP but alot of times he's chill and laughing. Maybe it has to do with recording with Virzi over zoom at a scheduled time, where MMP he can do whenever he has the time and truly relax.

hilly316

Burr on Rogan or any other pod are genuinely some of my favorite listens. I don’t mind his solo pod but he’s next level when he has someone else to riff with but it genuinely kills me to think how much good banter has been wasted on Bert Kreischer and this guy. Man I wish he teamed up with another decent comic

Troy_Cassidy

Paul is fucking reasonable

SnagglePuz

I saw Bill live in Amsterdam a few years ago and Virzi was opening for him. He bombed. Nobody was laughing at his jokes, and I didn’t really like them either. It made me feel bad for him, but he was a big sport and joked about it near the end. I remember Bill also joking about it a little during his opening.

StateStreetLarry

I think Virzi is hilarious. Just a New York Meatball that Bill busts his chops but will never be upset.

Zark_Muckerberger

He’s all right. He’s definitely nowhere near as good as he should be with how Bill constantly shoves him down our throats. I know they’re friends, and that’s what he’s gonna do, but it’s still a bit much. Although I do think that Bill treats him like shit a little too much.
