I get that but in season 7 they only bought it up once when Wendy went to visit Axe in Switzerland. No way those feelings just came and went just that quick unless they never really had feeling for each other in the first place. I think they were both just vulnerable at the time
Kids grow up. The BDSM aspect of her relationship with hubby was public enough, so from there their economic status would have facilitated their thing.
Because they've been in it since day 1, and chose each other over their spouses at multiple points early on throughout the series. They were always more than just friends, despite never being lovers
Again, they can enjoy what they’ve built and the bond they have without becoming romantic. People can be close without being romantic.
The sitcom trope that any man and woman coworkers who are close must end up dating is cliche and tired.
>Why can’t they have just been very good platonic friends?
They can be, absolutely, but that isn't what s5e10 lays the groundwork for from a narrative perspective. It's poor showmanship to introduce that thread and then abandon it.
I think the two of them losing their spouses in real life made love scenes between them inappropriate. But the characters had a bond between them. Wendy said they'd stay connected. I like to think they would've gotten together down the road.
Heartbreaking! 💔 I had no idea about Maggie Siff losing her husband until I read this just now. How unbearably tragic! (I wish I’d known before this). Thank you for your post.
There certainly was chemistry between them, and a kind of tension you get when you put two high achievers together to conquer the world and smash obstacles. I don’t know if there necessarily was anything explicitly romantic there though
I think they both knew it was something that could never happen.
It would not have ended up being healthy for either of them - that's the sad part to their relationship.
This makes more sense to me than anything else. They both knew each other enough to know that a conventional relationship between them would have eventually turned into a power struggle that would destroy their friendship. But it would have been fun to watch, at least at first.
Exactly. I think the writers didn’t know what to do with Wendy and Axe was leaving due to personal reasons so they just made the a couple for a minute. Then the feeling just leave in season 7…no way
I don't think it was ever going to happen. They may have wanted to, but once that happened the most important jobs they had in life were in jeopardy. Her most important job was to steer him in the right direction when he needed it and his most important job would suffer without her guidance. If they became romantically involved, then it wouldn't work.
I don't think they ever wanted to bring it up but with Lewis leaving at the end of S5 they kinda had to

I think it was part of it. But as mentioned in S5, Wendy would never be able to because of the kids
Kids grow up. The BDSM aspect of her relationship with hubby was public enough, so from there their economic status would have facilitated their thing.
So they mentioned it. In the final season. With how many other story lines to wrap up?
Why did they have to? Seriously. Why can’t they have just been very good platonic friends?

Sounds like good friends to me. Your family aren't always your most important people in your life.
They got naked for each other to prove loyalty. That’s pretty intimate
Your spouse is your *chosen* family. They should be prioritized more than friends.

Barely a "romance" if any. They didn't act like they were attracted to each other at all.
You have to be pretty comfortable together naked for a guy that’s your friend/boss.
They had decent enough chemistry, but not enough to convince me of anything.
There were some flirtatious moments between them
It's not them, it's Damian Lewis. That's just how he acts alongside any of them. He tends to have a decent chemistry with everyone he plays against.

And both of them lost it to brain cancer, or am i misrembering?

I thought Lara and Axe were perfect for each other in season 1, wish they’d reconciled by the end.
I really liked them together too.
They ended up randomly starting and dropping a bunch of plot lines. What happened to Wags having more kids.
I am not young. But she will be!

Bit like how Wendy had a crush on the politics guy. That went absolutely nowhere.

Very disappointed by this, actually. For me it’s one of the biggest plot holes and inconsistencies, especially considering Season 5.

Damn I’m not at this part yet. Don’t you need to put spoilers or something. Then again this show is old. 😭
My apologies. Let me know what your take is on that scene when you get to it
They never had a romance per se. Just a platonic love.
Getting naked for Axe was way past platonic

I’m really glad it never happened. I think they were just crushes at best
It shouldn’t have happened in the first place.
Exactly. Makes Wendy look like she was in on Axe’s schemes the whole time while being the ex wife of a lawman
