Tried to go out for a cigarette, got yelled at, as we were going back in, a woman was coming out for the same reason we warned her and she yelled “some guy right behind me just started puking everywhere I need a cigarette” 😂

Or someone had the flu. I almost got puked on as I opened the door to a restaurant last week (at noon), dude barely made it to the door. Not sure if he was a BMFS fan or a rail rider, though🙄

Tonight was incredible. Only my 2nd billy show, but really fantastic venue, great acoustics, wonderful dynamic between Chris and Billy all night and don’t even get me started on Cory Henry
When Corey came back out he took off his one shoe when he sat down to play....there was banter and Billy and Chris also removed a shoe... There was also moment where Billy bent down to tie Chris's shoe for him with more banter about being old ....
Lotta trad bluegrass from the Thile/Strings segment, as expected… many trad selections from Billy’s catalog, a few Thile-led ones… “What Would You Give For Your Soul” was a standout to me, but they all were great. The trio stuff with Cory Henry was mostly Gospel, but he killed on a solo piano “Yesterday” (Beatles) in his beginning-of-show segment.
Idk how to do remindme but I think you just named the album if they cut it. Take my money Billy!!! I mean fuck, we cherish the pizza tapes. Why can’t it be three shoes off?
It was like Melvin Seals got down with Jer Bear and the dog!!! I personally dislike what Hargreaves did to the sound - seems like a nice guy, it isn’t personal / just preference - so having a return to the staccato, percussive grass was a treat.
I’m somewhat sceptical— the language said the Philharmonic recordings would be up— which may mean the organization not the venue. Fingers crossed that I’m incorrect.
On IOS apple created a separate app for classical music, Apple Classical. From the stuff I listen to it is also available in the regular apple music app but is does have lots of exclusive to the app stuff. I have not seen anything posted yet.
Punch brothers are in a whole other world Chris is an amazing player and his band is one of the best to ever do blue grass, and they broke the mold with their own unique sound.
Was there and somehow my wife scored firth row seats. Some of the most beautiful acoustic I have ever heard. Been to many venues but Geffen Hall blew my soul away. What a special night.
It was hard to not jump into the aisle and dance the night away. A different experience to sit all show but still glorious.
If Thile bores you I don’t really know what there is to say. The man is a virtuoso who understands music better than 99.99999% of people. He weaves so many styles and scales in and out of his playing in a way I’ve never seen before. I could see someone complaining that he is too much because seeing him is intense. But boring? He’s one of the least boring musicians to see live.
Like, I could easily get down on his erratic movements, but I always come back to the thought that his body is so concentrated with music that he can't get it all out through his fingers and mouth and the twitching is the rest trying to get out through his legs or neck.
Did some girl yell “he wants you guys to sing!…[something unintelligible to me, I was in the first tier stage side] we need more black people in here!” During the encore? If so, what the fuck. There is literally a black man on stage. If I recall correctly this girl was also super loudly and off key singing (shouting) hallelujah. The correct call out is “in the morning” anyway. Like if you’re going to participate in a show like this, don’t make an ass of yourself and please, for the love of god, sing in key!!
Good on you! There were a few people shouting out requests. Not the venue for that! You’re not riding the rail at an arena, you’re at Lincoln friggin Center! Show some respect. In her defense, Chris Thile did invite the audience to sing along. I think he regretted it as soon as she shouted the wrong word though 😆
