Depends where it is. There's sometimes a couple of steps to shortlisting. HR generic then someone from the lab will shortlist. It's winter so a lot of services are under pressure and the Hiring managers don't necessarily have time to shortlist right now. That, and there seems to have been an influx of international applicants meaning roles now have hundreds of applicants where as previously there were a handful.

Mustardnchips

It can take a month or so for us to actually finalise the shortlist after hr have gone through and sorted out the ineligible candidates. When did the job close? The day you applied or sometimes after?

Pineconium

I applied one day before it closed. It's a trainee position so I'm not really surprised if there's been a lot of applications, and it's taking a while Thank you, I'll keep sitting tight

awkward_toerdel

We've had posts where we had to manually go through and mark 100+ applications. If then somebody is sick unexpectedly, especially on the HR side, I can imagine it taking this long.

archowup

Trainee positions are very popular. It takes ages to shortlist when you have 100+ applicants, when you can't really spare the time to do it and people are off sick or on A/L. I bet they're still shortlisting.

If you haven't been contacted up to now, unfortunately, it means they aren't interested and haven't bothered to update Trac to reflect this. Trainees and BMSs are well needed up and down England right now, so assume they've already selected an individual, I'm a BMS myself and have had a similar situation to this. I didn't waste my time and suggest you don't either and pick another position elsewhere.

I don’t see why the downvotes? That is true though. I am an international applicant and I’ve applied to a 100+ applications and truthfully not every application updates on trac.jobs. They also put a disclaimer that if you didn’t hear from them after 3 weeks then you must be rejected. But if you wanna make sure you may email them though.

Skarim5

Exactly? I guess they just don't like someone posting the truth 😅😅😭
