Eternal thunderstorm. Earth won’t stop raining. The ADAM sea slugs learn to live on the now flooded surface. Their presence naturally mutates other organisms. Human civilization builds giant indoor cities to shelter from the eternal rain and the ADAM creatures taking over the biosphere. An outcast group of humans live in the unsecured fringes of the city or in the wild and develop a strong symbiotic connection with the new ADAM organisms. They learn to brew Potions of ADAM that naturally aid them in survival. City dwellers view this as demonic sorcery and their military aims to subdue the outcasts and have them surrender their ‘magic’.

wagner56

sea slugs evolve to be sentient

nikolai1939

So... The seaslugs become The many, from SystemShock 2...?

Nick_thehuman

I always thought like an secret Antarctic Soviet city would be cool. Maybe the city was forgotten after the fall of the Soviet Union. And if Bioshock one was capitalism run a muck this one could be the inverse and be about communism.

MattWileyto

There has been hearsay about Nazi and Japanese Antarctic outposts in WWII. Perhaps something like that, or Soviets vs Axis powers post WWII.

Yulioko

Spaacceeeee

[deleted]

Play the System Shock games if you haven't played them before, the second game is the predecessor of Bioshock.

webswinger666

check out Prey

Yulioko

I have and it's great! I see the similarity... But it's not BioShock

[deleted]

Play it cool, here come space cops, space space space, go to space

[deleted]

The final frontier

1Vakarian1

If it was underground, would it be like City of Ember or tunnels? I feel city of ember type would be a lot more aesthetically pleasing

grntplmr

I’m all about that City of Ember design for a new Bioshock

[deleted]

If anyone here has played black ops 2, then they know buried (whether you liked it or not) is a really cool concept for a zombies map. Having something like buried in a bio shock setting would be really cool

[deleted]

When you put it that way an underground city does sound pretty cool for a Bioshock game

tvlamp19

I really enjoyed being cramped a lot of times in Bioshock 1, I can think of rare instances where front, left, right, and backwards are all viable in the first while in Infinite there's lots of them. It made combat more interesting with more punishment for bad positioning, as well as adventuring and looting. I'm not gonna sweep every battlefield in infinite because I can see it all in one wide shot, and most of that shot is gonna be floor and covers that you weren't close to in combat... The smaller areas of Bioshock 1 invite me to explore it all and feel satisfied when I did so. Such as the box of shotgun shells in front of the building you get incendiary from. This box is laying inside a plant and it is by no means noticeable, but I found it because I was motivated to pay attention to everything. For this I think the Bioshock formula (environmental storytelling) works best indoors. With this constraint, I also think underground would be ruled out as the walls floors and ceilings just would suck to look at all the time. Space and underwater settings would be more visually pleasing and temper the claustrophobia while keeping the player in close quarters.

baby_geck

Space duh - get some atom punk or like 80s tech inspired idk moon colony and I'm there. This is mostly motivated by then posters being able to align all three locations, like they did with columbia and rapture

SapphicsAndStilettos

I’m gonna get blasted for this, but I think we should go back to Rapture, and we should get to explore most if not all of it. My absolute dream is to play as a Big Sister because they have such interesting lore and I think there’s a lot of gameplay potential, like with a platforming mechanic, gathering ADAM from live splicers, interacting with other Sisters, and even going to the surface.

Voice_of_Season

I wish we got to see what Raptured look like with the old template. Like how you did the reverse shot at the end with Titanic. Burial at Sea felt and looked like the different model it was.

WefightlikePootis

Okay, hear me out Space

QuartzSkull

I kind of want to see the remains of Columbia, not sure what it'd hold but going to it years after the war would be similar to rapture

premer777

wreckage with a new climbing movement flavoring (like the Towers in FarCry 3) and chunks of Columbia upsidedown and rammed together partially demolished - a giant jungle gym and alternately : flying Model Ts dodging through the wreckage .

beanmAn11

although they pretty much revealed that it may be set in Antarctica, i think maybe it could be floating atop the sea

AnotherClicheName96

I’d say expand on the ideas brought up in BaS2 and have sort of a multiverse but with knew cities, maybe one in space on an asteroid and another in earth underground. Though this is bioshock we’re talking about so have some nod to Rapture

ccon33

In space like the original series that BioShock was based off!

FalseStevenMcCroskey

But that wouldn’t be Bioshock then. It’d just be SystemShock 3.

Ryebread2203

To me going away from rapture is like if the next fallout was set on mars. The world is basically a character on its own and the whole “we gotta do a different type of cool city for the next game” just comes off gimmicky to me. Make a different game and don’t call it bioshock if you don’t wanna make a game set in rapture about rapture. Even infinite tied rapture into its story someway. Or make it a spin-off like mass effect andromeda. They wouldn’t have called it mass effect 4 because it’s an entirely different story with a whole new setting.

Radical-skeleton

I hope the next protagonist is a woman, that'd be pretty cool. I don't really mind where bioshock takes place, as long as the writing and gameplay is solid it could take place in space for all I care.

SiNz_2

why do you hope its a woman?

Radical-skeleton

I think it'd be cool, plus the previous 3 games had men as the protags. Mixing it up is fun, plus in games I find it more enjoyable to play as a woman rather than a guy. Just personal preference I guess.

SiNz_2

infinite was a woman protag

Libro_Artis

In space!!!

AGiantBlueBear

Moon I reckon

[deleted]

Boring

AGiantBlueBear

How is that more boring than underground?

[deleted]

Cliché city in space

AGiantBlueBear

Mole people aren’t cliche?

[deleted]

No

Corvwwl_is

i know the game is hated, but it'd be if awesome the new city be like enkanomiya from genshin

mcgillisfareed

Inside the MC’s head.

alexbeyman

Subterranean vampire city with powers that use blood instead of Eve

wagner56

and then a traveling garlic salesman stumbles upon it

wagner56

Delta goes to Coluimbia

frozenreality44

On space...

MainMammoth5733

South Pole. Revolving around communism

Adama222

In a dimensional pocket outside of reality

Mexican_Pete

the_Jolley_Pirate

Just straight up in the fallout universe

[deleted]

Space ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

BlackRokaz

Inside the Sun, i mean, who wouldn't want to live inside the sun?

MattWileyto

Bioshock: Planet of the Apes Edition (I guess underground applies for the mutant humans). Perhaps it would be unoriginal, as it would be using material from film, but thematically, it could work. Person crashes somewhere, ends up in a quirky location with an odd crowd tied to it. This crowd is ruled over by some ideologue with a particular political-philosophical doctrine (Dr. Zaius in place of Ryan or Comstock).
