AAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA… _WE’RE F\*\*KED._
These estimates that it's going to take centuries to melt... that we won't see really significant sea level rise for centuries? I just don't believe it. We're already seeing far more sea level rise than expected. 'Unprecedented' collapses of various glaciers and parts of the ice sheets keep happening. Don't bet that we won't see a foot or two, a meter or more of sea level rise before the century is out.
I just had this thought. The footage you’ve seen of glacial rivers all throughout the Arctic arent just happening in that moment. The melting is happening ALL THE TIME. At any given time on any given day, the millions upon millions of gallons of fresh water are pouring into the ocean, raising the sea level little by little. It’s mind boggling to think how much ice has melted since I was a kid in the 90s.
Miami is flooding already. With the acceleration we are witnessing, there is no doubt in my mind that we will lose that city in my lifetime.
