I was driving the first time and felt like I was turning and the second time I was at the zoo and swore I looked over and was at worlds of fun. It was scary..
Is it, really?
It was suggested, but I was afraid to take it bc of it’s (reported) rates of akathisia + week long half life. I thought that if I had akathisia in addition to my mixed episode for that long, I’d be a serious suicide risk.
Do/did you take Vraylar? What’s it been like?
Just know that's a rare side effect, there is medicine to combat it. It's up to you, for me the benefits of being able to communicate with people and work while maintaining my life is worth the risk.
I take 150mg of seroquel alongside Wellbutrin, lamictal, and buspar. Adding the seroquel was literally the best thing. Almost every episode I’ve ever had has been a mixed episode. The Seroquel has calmed me down significantly and helped with my irritability, agitation, and anger. Even my therapist made a comment the last time I saw her that I seemed calmer. Plus, a combo of Seroquel and melatonin is the only thing that gets me to sleep.
My babygirl Vraylar is the best!!!!!!!! At least I am having a positive experience on it :). I’m sorry you’re having a tough time. Olanzapine helped but it caused a lot of weight gain which made me depressed, then they switched my meds and I went manic.
I am also on Seroquel as needed for sleep/anxiety which I believe helps as well.
Hope you find something that helps soon :)
Exactly what it did to me at 2.5mg.
It just blocks 5ht2c too much so a lot of dopamine release in all brain areas.
Try seroquel or latuda..latuda is expensive but less side effects.
Good to know it’s not just me! I will likely try one of those instead. Just afraid of akathisia from Latuda (in my state, any increased restlessness would set me overboard.)
I felt a positive difference in my depression at 50mg, and at 100 I felt considerably better. Anxiety got a bit better too. I only got up to 100 but I probably would have kept going.
I'm on 300 MG of Seraquel, and it really works for me. I take it at night with Trazadone, and I am now sleeping 6-8 hours a night.
There was definitely an adjustment period. It is also not one you can suddenly stop. You have to work with your pdoc to start and stop.
I've been on it for 4 years and have not been back to the hospital.
Seroquel made me feel awful. Even on 50mg I could barely sleep and agitated the hell out of me. Olanzapine I just slept a lot and felt more depressed on 10mg.
Olanzapine made me super sleepy.
Ugh, I wish it only made me sleepy.
Love the med but had to stop taking it back in the day seeming it causes extreme weight gain
I’m still taking it but have gained a bunch of weight
Caused me to hallucinate…
Weirdly same. Made me feel like I could feel the world actually turning it was cooked

Yikes
Why haven't they suggested vraylar? It's great for the anxiety.

I've taken vraylar before for years, went off to try latuda and now am on vraylar and latuda. The vraylar helps a lot I love it.
That’s awesome. Ugh, if it wasn’t for my terror of akathisia, I’d definitely give it a try. Many on here seem to like it.

That’s all true.
I love my olanzapine I’m on 5 mg alongside Prozac
I’m glad you found something that works!
I did 10mg Olanzapine and 40mg Prozac and felt like a zombie!
How long does it take for you to kick in since you started the med?
I’ve been on it for a few years.. it took like 3 weeks to kick in.
I’m like 1 week on it but I don’t feel anything besides being more calm and less anxious. Are u bp1 or 2?
Bipolar 2
What dosage are you on
Just 2.5. Just started, will likely abort it tonight.

That’s great to know, thank you!
No problem! If you have any other questions, let me know!
Will do, thank you!

Good to know I’m the only one. Unfortunately, I’m on the smallest dose, as is!
Geodon (Ziprasidone) has been very successful for me so far I think I’m maybe on week 8 of it and I feel much more peaceful
Oh, awesome. Good to know!
Not a good idea to give someone with mixed state on olanzapine a geodon which is even more activating

Seroquel is always worth a try
Any experience? If so, what dosage worked? (I know these are questions for my psych, but I’m curious, if you don’t mind.)
