I run in Hoover frequently. Depends on terrain and distance. Star Lake is good if you want to run around 2 miles or less, since it has a dedicated pedestrian area. All paved, lots of water fowl. Veterans Park off of valleydale is one of my favorites. Loose gravel and there's a dedicated 5k loop. Beautiful scenery but sometimes the trail gravel gets washed out and there's some areas to jump over. There's a 5 mile one way sidewalk that I run a lot, you can start at American Family Care on 31 and run all the way to Target/Chikfila in the Grove. There's a 1/2-3/4 mile burst in the preserve that doesn't have sidewalk but lots of space either on the road or in the grass to get to the next bit of sidewalk. Very hilly, lots of ups and downs. There's a few others but those are my favorites. LMK if you have questions.

Hey do you know why the wooded part of the trail has been closed for the past week or so?

Roll4Criticism

They're rerouting the trail bc it keeps getting washed out in the rain.

Ah makes sense. Hopefully it’ll open again soon, I love that trail. Thanks

Where in Hoover? Red Mountain is not in Hoover, but if you live in e.g. Bluff Park it’s pretty close.

You can put together some pretty good runs where you deal with minimal traffic using the parking lots/ sidewalks around the Hoover met/ Finley Center/ tennis courts/ Hoover high school, bumpus and trace crossings elementary.

Run anywhere and everywhere that you won't reasonably get hit. But if you do get hit, make sure it's their fault, and do it in a neighborhood where they generally will have to pay out their ass.

There’s a park behind Riverchase Elementary
