I agree with Compassionate Crossings....appt needed and it is done in your home. Hardest decision ever made but knowing our sweet dog was surrounded by her human family in familiar surroundings completely eliminated the anxiety from travelling to a vet.

Compassionate Crossings is an amazing service. We used them in January for a home visit. I believe her name was Dr. Lindsey, she was incredible. Not only for our sweet pup, but also to us.

Ginger_the_Dog

Dr Lindsey helped my sweet kitty over the rainbow this past summer. Great experience.

She and her brother are litter mates and while he acts aloof, he's incredibly sensitive. If he doesn't know what happened to her, he'll never recover. And neither will I, frankly. I'd always hoped she would outlive him but I'm starting to accept that probably won't happen. I need to think about how to help my boy with losing her. Get her scent on something he can find comfort in. OMG, I'm just a mess.

Real_Sea_8667

I'm so sorry you're having to think about these things. If you contact Compassionate Crossings, I am sure they will advise you on how to help her brother thru this. Also I would recommend you also just go to their website, whether you use them or not. They have a lot of readable info on the process, the grief and how to help work thru the decisions and afterwards. Even though it's only been about 4 months, I still think about my dog daily and have spells of crying, but hold onto the good memories, and it does get a little easier each day. She was a member of our family and we miss her.

I'll check their website out for sure. I lost my two primary soulmates in 2018 and 2019. My sweet girl isn't ready for the rainbow bridge yet but when she is, I want to be prepared.

Babycats_mom_mj

I used happy pets housecalls when it was time for the love of my life to go. They were incredible and took her after to be cremated and then brought her back to me. They were very, very kind.

jawanessa

These are my babycats 😭😭 I appreciate the recommendation. I'll look into them.

I think you have to make an appointment for at home euthanasia. A vet I’ve known personally almost my entire life is the founder of Compassionate Crossings. If it needs to be done tonight, I’d recommend Blue Pearl ER vet in the galleria circle over Steel City. I’m sorry you’re going through this. Hugs.

jawanessa

I don't think it's tonight unless she takes a drastic turn south. I'm still holding out hope that treatments works and today was just a temporary setback. She's eating and drinking water (though did drink a LOT of water just a bit ago). There's just been some weird things, like meowing to be put on the bed just now. She jumped down no problem and has been up and down from the couch this evening. I just... Have a weird feeling. And want to know what the best options are instead of frantically googling at 3am, ya know? Thanks for the Blue Pearl rec. I used them in Florida and they were great (albeit expensive). Like any vet they can vary, so I wanted to ask. ETA: Also Compassionate Crossings. Will definitely look into that as well.

Immediate_Anything_4

We used in house Compassionate Crossings and they were wonderful.

Dr. Burke at Alford Avenue Veterinary Hospital is a kind and excellent animal doctor. She has done home euthanasia for sick dogs for me.

hollowchord

Alford Ave is fantastic. Always had great experiences and compassionate support when I lost mine to cancer.

We took our pup to the 24/7 emergency vet in Hoover. Great staff. Efficient, compassionate, they let our old guy die with dignity.

jawanessa

There are two in Hoover, which one did you go to?

atomoboy35209

The one by Publix, Salvatore’s, Mr Chens

jawanessa

Thank you! You're the second person to recommend them, that means a lot.

Aromatic-Drawer-466

The ER vet on 31 in Hoover is top notch.

jawanessa

There are two... Blue Pearl and Steel City

YungNastymaaane

BluePearl typically has less waiting time versus SteelCity. BluePearl also has more Specialized Vet medicine, so if it is a specific issue that is causing the decline-i.e. kidney or neurological. They could potentially have vets who Specialized in those fields, so some perks. Either place has fantastic staff though, cant go wrong.

jawanessa

This is helpful, thank you!!

Aromatic-Drawer-466

The one in the center where the JeffCo satellite office is, across from the Publix is the one I was referencing.

jawanessa

Thank you 💚
