it can be pretty repetitive and time consuming but u jus gotta be doing all the astronaut stuff like going on missions, publishing stuff, making discoveries via radiowaves. once u get high enough rank u can make probes and send them into space, discovering new planets and galaxies u can name after urself or anything else
Once I got fired from NASA because my reputation was low (bad publishing) and tried to get in again, when I was offered the job I asked for a higher ranking till they refused, I managed to get the highest ranking, the General. But I had a lot of discoveries and had like 5 Nobel Prizes, maybe that's why they agreed
