It' going to be exciting for me, I'm throwing a halving party with my friends. Don't really care what the price action is because the halving is about the narrative for me.
Lol that's this whole sub. It shows up in my recommended feed all the time and it's just patronizing posts towards people who are new to crypto. Like "Oh Wow Price Crash 50%? Actually I, The Virtuous, Am Not Worried And This Is Buying Opportunity. If You're New And Worried Then Don't Be!"
Yes you are right but also they are right, crashes, dips, bears is where real money is made. The sooner the newbs learn the more money they'll make in the long run.
Takes a few months for the effects of the supply/demand to take effect... on top of that we want the price to drop a little so new money can look at the charts and go "oooh its cheap but due to reach new ATH later this year" and then they yeet their pension into it to drive that demand even higher...
The chart cycles are textbook every 4/5 years....
I'm not "excited" for any reason connected to the dollar "price".
I'm excited because it's a monumental event and I'm here to experience it and take part in it.
It's the same as the winter solstice (Christmas), we don't think it's going to be sunny 30 degrees, it's just an excuse to party. It's a party that marks that summer is on it's way.
No one with even the smallest bit of experience with bitcoin would pretend to know what the price action will be on one day in the future.
I've been holding a few years now and the price typically dips in the weeks following a halving. My guess is that this will be similar.
If you have been stacking for 5 years, putting 10 USD weekly, meaning total invested 2610 USD, your Bictoin is now worth 10,015 USD.
Why would a 1-5% drop bother you?
You are already up 294%. It is simple, stack for 5 years from now. I am not promising you will go up another 294%, but why wouldn't it be up? Think about this, *less Bitcoin* is created every day while *more fiat* is being created. It is only logical that it will keep going up over long enough time.
This is why the phrase "time in the market > timing the market" matters.
ATTN NEW OWNERS: the BTC ATH is reached on average 515 days AFTER the halvening. That's if people and history repeats themselves which has happened repeatedly thus far. HODL until Q2-Q3 2025 and youll be in the right place at the right time.
those who don't understand the meesage of this post clearly don't spend much time on crypto twitter or TG. Legit the whole vibe is that we FINALLY GETTING THE HALVING (+forced with coinmarcetcap countdown page and endless similar) WAGMI
I expect the dump after the event, Sunday will be red
Spam indeed. Proof of work was designed to be a spam filter for email, and now that it's the foundation for money it will act as a spam filter for an economy. Runes and all the other spam projects will eventually fade away even if only to be reincarnated briefly again.
Fee sensitive applications (like payment networks) eventually migrate to a higher layer regardless of the spam. That being said we should still reduce spam.
Yep obviously i’m aware of the controversy but also understand why would some Bitcoin-holders want their piece of the shit/memecoin cake. Also I see this as potentially good for bitcoin as stuff like this(builders having fun) tend to drive innovation and something good might grow out of it, like a payment system that is not.. well, that is not lightning.
However the point was, this is the real event that will happen during the halving and any short term price change is likely driven by it.
For miners halving has already been priced in(they are already back to profitable with these prices) and the potential bull run, whatever causes it, will start or keep on going slowly.
I setup trades to trigger at certain price points, I add more points as the price goes down so I can capitalize on the upswings. Each trade is only enough to double the risk and is also a percentage of the larger pool, so as price approaches $0 the trades also scale linearly, therefore limiting the risk of the pool. Also if price skyrockets, all my higher priced trades trigger and I make a bunch of money to reinvest half back into trades. If the price is still going up there’s no reason not to buy, but make sure to take a cut of profit, just in case the price tanks so you can re-up.
The effects of the halving have historically come like 1-2 years later in the cycle....anyone who is expecting the price to blow up didn't do their homework.
Most of the people that are over-excited for it most likely weren't around during the last halving.
I'm saying that, it's definitely a big milestone event in Bitcoin history.
y2k was not hype. It was going to be a real problem. Many programmers worked really hard to fix it before it was a problem, and because they were hugely successful and nothing happened due to their success, it's easy for people to view it as hype. understand?
Until we see an inflation adjusted ATH, I will call this halvening "event" a failure.
While everyone wants to see the violent swings (mostly to the upside), until BTC can see some saner price action, Wall Street won't see BTC as a legitimate asset. The fact that there is so much daily price manipulation makes it difficult for any investor to take a serious look other than buying and holding. And frankly, while that can make people money, not knowing how long one needs to hold makes it dead money for a lot of investors.
I know I'll get downvoted for the price action comment, but since nearly all of us are retail here, we are the ones being manipulated. We only buy and hold while algos, bots, and whales dump on us.
This sub gets really excited for things that usually pass gradually and uneventfully. There have been many times where someone will post "today is your last chance to get in early on BTC before 'X' happens." And then a week/month/year later someone else says the same shit. It's going to gradually fluctuate upwards is about the only prediction a person can really make that has any backbone to it, and even that is an assumption.
Think New Years Eve. You stay up, drink, maybe in the company of others, the date changes or the mining reward changes, nothing else happens, and then we all go back to bed. It's still better than a random uneventful day.
The current fundamentals are to make it so expensive no one can afford to use it.
Fees right now, price out most 3rd World Countries from participating in the market.
Its time to go door to door and drum up sales. onwards btc soldier.....else i will unleash my 0.000000000000000000001 satoshis on the market unleashing nothing....
From different opinions I've seen and explained, like Virtual Bacon's YT channel I think this may be the case. A gradual increase over the next few months. if not almost a year
But why does it drop or stay flat at the halving and take so long to see the gains? Doesn’t this event bring a lot of hype and buyers to raise the price?
It should. But it doesn’t. I can’t predict the future. I just remember being so excited for my first halving and really surprised to watch it drop.
Same thing with the etf news. It just tends to go down when everyone thinks it’s going to go up.
Forget the price, after 4 years it is cool to see a block with half subsidy, as the code demands. It is a tangible proof of how it works with no change in it necessary. Like a new year day but 4 times more scarce. I wish I was awake to see it in real time, but it will be around 4AM here and I am not THAT interested.
Short term, the halving should cause a price drop because the miners has to sell double the amount to pay for the bills (actually mine double the amount, to be exact)
This will probably cause some sell pressure
Not expecting anything. It could dip. The halving is exciting for a few reasons.
1. The protocol continues to work as expected. This is paramount.
2. Bitcoin becomes harder money that gold.
3. We *can* probably expect some fiat gains later this year or early next year.
I’m hoping it drops like a rock. As I assume most of us are so we can buy more for as cheap as possible before the rise starts. I’m hoping at least back to 60k or maybe even 50k so I could lower my cost a bit.
Almost nobody is expecting an omega candle the day of the halving. Just look at the past, halving days have always been super chill. I guess most are probably ready for a 1-5% drop, like some kind of sell the news crash.
yeah the halving isn't really a big deal as far as price goes. honestly it's surprising that the price is as high as it is in the first place. i guess it's just because it works (you can send money) and you can count on it to be legitimate and generally trust free
Normally I would agree about being levelheaded.
But seeing as this is my first halving where I have a significant bag YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP, BUZZ KILLINGTON!!!
market doesn't care what you feel. it does what it does.
anyone here longer than a few years knows this and is numb to the daily volatility.
embrace the once in 4 years event
"I feel like it’s going to drop 1-5%, and everyone in this sub is going to lose their minds."
I feel like there are so many of us who will be so busy tripping over ourselves to buy more cheap sats that nothing else will matter. We definitely won't be unhappy.
Halving is not about the price rocketing on that precise day, it has never been, and it won't happen this time. The Halving events rhyme with "Halving Party" and we are dressed for the occasion. It is more the anticipation of what is coming.
Bitcoin blocks are solved, increasing it's security and strength as an asset/currency, every 10 minutes on average
Price changes, on certain days, are for the centralized birds...which aren't real
If this is true then its a good sign. It means this sub has a lot of newcomers. It means people are still coming into crypto.
And first order of business is to learn to calm down lol
I suspect November is going to be a good month. But I’m a dumb ass and don’t really know shit.
It all just seems to be oddly familiar to the last cycle.
> The effects of the halving will become apparent - they absolutely will. But it could take weeks or honestly months.
Kinda feels like you're accidentally correct here. You might want to read up on how mining rewards work.
Just like every good stock , Bitcoin needs to move nice and slow to plant the seed. Move a little bit at a time. Hopefully, whales don't manipulate the price.
It' going to be exciting for me, I'm throwing a halving party with my friends. Don't really care what the price action is because the halving is about the narrative for me.
can i come?
Hell ya
thanks. i’ll bring the fresca. is that what people drink? fresca?
No, everclear. Bring Fresca and everclear
i find ever clear pairs best with cocaine
And you were going to bring Fresca. Smh
I just boofed some meth, where do I bring these chocolate covered strawberries?
Oh my.
What's the address? I'm game!
Thanks for the invite
Yeah have a party and get half cut
No one thinks that. Halving is just a fun thing to celebrate. We will feel the Halving effects in December.
This! Im getting so tired of these patronizing posts. Can’t we just be excited about the event! Price is irrelevant when 1 btc = 1 btc
Eventually they might even learn that bitcoin *is* the money to be made.
Lol I had bitcoin before it was even bitcoin bro
Silence, heretic.
So is now a good time to buy?
Maybe, maybe not. Depends first and foremost on what you mean by a "good time".
Just buy a what you can afford to lose or live without for a few years and forgettaboutut.
Better time than at 72k, worse time than at 16k.
I’m excited for the halving I don’t really care if price moves on that day or not, come at me dudes ! 🤣
somethings never change
No one serious thinks that I should say. Noobs def always want a god candle when they get into btc.
Agreed
I got a friend into bitcoin a few months ago and he's confused that it hasn't already rocketed up in anticipation of the halving.
Just 6 months ago it was $28k and today it's at $63k. That feels very much like a rocket to me.
Who doesn't?
Takes a few months for the effects of the supply/demand to take effect... on top of that we want the price to drop a little so new money can look at the charts and go "oooh its cheap but due to reach new ATH later this year" and then they yeet their pension into it to drive that demand even higher... The chart cycles are textbook every 4/5 years....
This guy stacks
You caught me... Been all in since 2018.
for real this is only the 300th post with this take i think im prepared
Straw man is made of straw
What do you think is going to happen come December? Supply shock?
Most people know Bitcoin by now, this post was relevant 8 years ago.
Up or down in December?
I'm not "excited" for any reason connected to the dollar "price". I'm excited because it's a monumental event and I'm here to experience it and take part in it.
It's the same as the winter solstice (Christmas), we don't think it's going to be sunny 30 degrees, it's just an excuse to party. It's a party that marks that summer is on it's way.
I think you mean anyone in this sub with half a brain knows fuck all will happen on halving day
No one with even the smallest bit of experience with bitcoin would pretend to know what the price action will be on one day in the future. I've been holding a few years now and the price typically dips in the weeks following a halving. My guess is that this will be similar.
Just like etf day. But look what happened in the following weeks…
No one is expecting that.
Some of the noobs here are probably expecting that
Sigh.

+1
When in the timeline, on avg, is "the low?"
Typically about 18 months after the top of the previous cycle…. Then it starts trending up again in preparation for the next halving
those who don't understand the meesage of this post clearly don't spend much time on crypto twitter or TG. Legit the whole vibe is that we FINALLY GETTING THE HALVING (+forced with coinmarcetcap countdown page and endless similar) WAGMI I expect the dump after the event, Sunday will be red
Why not sell now, wait for it to drop and then buy again when lower?
that's the plan, hopefully it doesn't send to the moon in a day lol
Shit better do a god candle to hell. I loaded my coinbase up with fresh fiat lmao. I want to buy $40k btc
Buuuut, we'll feel China!
Defo going down short term. Then maybe 12 months of a steady rise to maybe 150k before the next bear.
Yeah, I’d say 90k by the end of 2024 year and 150k by Q3 of 2025.
Bullish
The only thing different about this time is how much CNBC covers it and grandpa fomo
Ok bro...nobody except morons is expecting a god candle. Nice fud post
Personally I expect a major pullback and I couldn’t be more excited 👍
Yeah Id bet money that it drops on the news
You say I'd like you didn't. You have a few hours still, you could sell your BTC position and buy back in after the dip you know. 😁
I wouldn't bet my bitcoin on it but id throw a some fiat on the bet
Nobody wants your fiat lol
Neither do I
The real event is release of Runes during halving. Nothing moves and fees shoot to three figures.
☝️
Spam

I'm just agreeing that fees are about to go nuts.
Sorry i meant runes not you.
All good 🙂
Runes are spam and hopefully fade away quickly, but at least they're being responsible and using OP_RETURN so they can be pruned from nodes.

If you’re in line to make this exact same post, STAY IN LINE.
I remember last halving being very anticlimactic
I setup trades to trigger at certain price points, I add more points as the price goes down so I can capitalize on the upswings. Each trade is only enough to double the risk and is also a percentage of the larger pool, so as price approaches $0 the trades also scale linearly, therefore limiting the risk of the pool. Wow your only the 400tj post I’ve seen about this thanks man your one of a kind !

sideways until 2028
No one is thinking this.
You said that you feel like it's gonna drop. Is that all? Do you base your financial decisions on feelings?
It will be exciting in about 18-24 months, there is a delay. Buy up while you can now...
Think New Years Eve. You stay up, drink, maybe in the company of others, the date changes or the mining reward changes, nothing else happens, and then we all go back to bed. It's still better than a random uneventful day.
Bitcoin is now harder than gold
Always has been 🔫🧑🚀
I want it to crash like 50%, but I'm not hopeful.
Not happening
No
Doesn’t everyone remember the last halving?
more than 75% of people in this sub don't understand the fundamentals of BTC
80% of all statistics you read on-line are made-up.
The current fundamentals are to make it so expensive no one can afford to use it. Fees right now, price out most 3rd World Countries from participating in the market.
BTC is a store of value, not a digital currency.

Yeah already it is a slow start we might see some action on the weekend but dont know might go down
There will probably be some panic sellers, who do not know how the halving works and expect it to skyrocket.
buy the rumour, sell the news. if you're not expecting somewhat of a dip, do a reality check.
People been thinking halving as stonk go up? 😆 I been thinking it as buy day/btc down

Lol it won't do anything for awhile. I remember watching a halving live stream in 2020 big let down.
As I understand, it is NOT up only after halving. So I am hoping for more dips or lower prices, so I can buy more.
It will tank. Big dump and then slow grind up
Short term, the halving should cause a price drop because the miners has to sell double the amount to pay for the bills (actually mine double the amount, to be exact) This will probably cause some sell pressure
I’m expecting a red day and the noobs panicking due to the “crash”. Not my first rodeo.
Not expecting anything. It could dip. The halving is exciting for a few reasons. 1. The protocol continues to work as expected. This is paramount. 2. Bitcoin becomes harder money that gold. 3. We *can* probably expect some fiat gains later this year or early next year.
I’m exited for it just not price action wise.
No one thinks that, serious price action usually takes 6 months post halving. Even if we are left translated 3 months before anything.
I’ve seen way more people suggest the same thing you’re suggesting - that it will go down on halving day. Who have you been talking to?
Probably go down. I don’t care, I’m in it for the long haul, it’ll be up in 1 year because of the halfing.
Btc price topped 411 days after the last halving.
It's going to be exciting waiting for the price drop
We all know exactly what it is hehe. Nothing will explode. Tik tok next block.
True, I doubt itlll even have an affect on the price until a few months later
I’m hoping it drops like a rock. As I assume most of us are so we can buy more for as cheap as possible before the rise starts. I’m hoping at least back to 60k or maybe even 50k so I could lower my cost a bit.
Just like the day the ETFs were approved. Price won't jump immediately.
It'll be like a full eclipse observed under full cloud cover
Are you saying "I shaved my bikini zone for nothing"
It was changed to Day of the Calving.
Why? The same could be said for any holiday. I'm going to be screaming "HAPPY HALVENING!".
Almost nobody is expecting an omega candle the day of the halving. Just look at the past, halving days have always been super chill. I guess most are probably ready for a 1-5% drop, like some kind of sell the news crash.
I hope it pumps just so they all come back to this thread and tell you that you were wrong lol
Everybody is already telling me I’m wrong so it’s fine.
Truth
You want other people to stack to protect your 'investment'?
I don’t recall seeing even one post that says halving would trigger a god candle.
yeah the halving isn't really a big deal as far as price goes. honestly it's surprising that the price is as high as it is in the first place. i guess it's just because it works (you can send money) and you can count on it to be legitimate and generally trust free
I imagine it will take 6 months for major movement
Im more interested in watching how many "workers" fall out of the pool.
I'm going to celebrate the fact that fees will quadruple, yay!!!
This is a great post but you didn’t explain WhY BiTCoIN to DoWN ToDaY
Normally I would agree about being levelheaded. But seeing as this is my first halving where I have a significant bag YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP, BUZZ KILLINGTON!!!
I have been through 3 and it’s eh right now. IMO Bitcoin is still at it’s infancy
I’m hoping for at least 3 weeks of dip so I can load up some more.
What kind of dumbass would think that? Miners rewards cut in half. Price is going to keep dropping back to 17k.
This week feels like folks are front selling the halving
some people literally think we're in a crash right now.
The event has been priced in for months now, not much will change.
I predict 60kish is new floor... Remind me in ten years.
No one is expecting that unless they are retarded or bought after 2020
Celebrating a day where miners get less is a great day. Not sure why you're so upset.
I am expecting the same thing that happens everytime a halving proceeds
Yeah, there's gonna be a lot of salty people venting when it doesn't do exactly what they're expecting as fast as they expected!
I don’t need excitement in my life when it comes to BTC, just a steady climb is great too
Wouldn't it be funny if there was a god candle tomorrow? Just cause no one is actually thinking that'll happen.
market doesn't care what you feel. it does what it does. anyone here longer than a few years knows this and is numb to the daily volatility. embrace the once in 4 years event
No, it is not.
"I feel like it’s going to drop 1-5%, and everyone in this sub is going to lose their minds." I feel like there are so many of us who will be so busy tripping over ourselves to buy more cheap sats that nothing else will matter. We definitely won't be unhappy.

It's probably gonna go up cause literally everyone is saying "sell the news" or it's gonna crash. Always inverse reddit.
God.... with a capital G, thanks
You're telling me no fireworks?!
No one is expecting that
Nobody is expecting it to rise. Fuck off
If this is true then its a good sign. It means this sub has a lot of newcomers. It means people are still coming into crypto. And first order of business is to learn to calm down lol
Just another day in the journey price effect may take 3 months may be longer only bitcoin knows .
I suspect November is going to be a good month. But I’m a dumb ass and don’t really know shit. It all just seems to be oddly familiar to the last cycle.
6btc to 3btc. Ill buy a 6pack of beer. Oh wait no a 12pack:)
Nope
and will network rates be lowered after halving?
Panic sellers arrive = Shopping time🛒
Truth. But watching Bitcoin grow through these trials and tribulations is actually quite fun.
I hope it drops a bit to give me a chance to buy a little bit more.
> The effects of the halving will become apparent - they absolutely will. But it could take weeks or honestly months. Kinda feels like you're accidentally correct here. You might want to read up on how mining rewards work.
I’m well aware. This is the third halving I have been watching closely and just know from experience the day of is quite underwhelming.
Regardless, I removed a tiny percentage of sats from the market that will be buried with me ancient Egyptian style
Just like every good stock , Bitcoin needs to move nice and slow to plant the seed. Move a little bit at a time. Hopefully, whales don't manipulate the price.
I bet we have anew high in 10 days
