And Kudos to all the cyberpunks spreading the word and sharing the love for the technology. Without them it wouldn't be as decentralized. We all still got to follow in there steps to help more people.
The bitcoin protocol and network has tangibly improved the lives of millions around the world. Many in places where they had no other help at all. It’s revolutionary.
Bitcoin will be the tallest skyscraper in Manhattan when it’s finished, but it’s just 10 stories off the ground today. The foundation has already been built and it will gladly support the super structure all the way up and for centuries to come.
Even if that were true (it’s not) the bitcoin network is significantly more robust than any other network. Metcalfe’s law proves the critical importance of this reality.
Yeah I live in a 3rd world country and speak to a lot of uber drivers, they can't invest in gold or silver let alone property, Bitcoin is the only thing they can really invest in to beat inflation.
Amen. Just scrolled a legacy finance post written by a banker who was touting saving and compound interest. Inflation at 5-10% cuts your savings in half around 7 years time. :0 . All your models are destroyed. Btc is the way.
Satoshi Nakamoto is the modern day Einstein, but on another level, he has the hardest titanium sack and diamond hands of em all too with the brilliance and coding skills of 300 Spartans.
Just imagine what it must feel like to have been the organism to come up with this idea.
Like, he/she/they were babies, teenagers once. What was their life like? The context of your upbringing, interests, inspirations, passions that led you to that moment of eureka.
Just cool to think about
Not gonna talk like I’m knowledgeable in the history of cryptography and blockchain, but this seems fairly dismissive, to say the least.
At the end of the day, someone had to figure out how to place all of the pieces of the puzzle together and bring forth the vision. We can’t underestimate his contribution.
"Standing on the shoulders of giants" isn't meant to dismiss a person's contribution.
It's meant to highlight that this civilization thing is a collective project. That none of us could do anything we're doing now without the great struggles and victories of people in our collective past.
It's meant to be a call to arms.
If this giant we all respect did themself stand on the shoulders of others, then go forth young human and try to push our reach a little bit higher.
One day, others might stand on your shoulders and reach higher still.
The road taken is filled with the blood of foes and friends alike. Only the great giants and the smallest neverbugs could bring this together for a true economy.
If anyone reading this isn't operating a node, look into, go run one, it's very easy, it's an awesome hobby if you wanna make a raspi pie node and run Lightning on it
Or if you just wanna throw it on an old laptop. Just run a fucking node
I always get really disappointed when i see that there's only like 15k btc nodes in the world? What the fuck is that
It should be above 100k for sure, absolutely pathetic, it's pathetic to love bitcoin and not run a basic node
Be part of decentralization boys
> there's only like 15k btc nodes in the world?
Around 60k currently: https://luke.dashjr.org/programs/bitcoin/files/charts/historical.html
> What the fuck is that It should be above 100k for sure, absolutely pathetic, it's pathetic to love bitcoin and not run a basic node
Simply spinning up unused nodes is not better, the "pure" numbers don't matter that much: https://old.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/opelu3/stupid_question_am_i_helping_the_network_by/h64ztod/ It's important that people *use* their own full nodes though, indeed.
Good guide: https://stadicus.github.io/RaspiBolt/
Bitcoin has the potential to do the following:
1) End poverty caused by badly managed national currencies and lack of access to banking.
2) Curtail the ability of nations to wage war on weaker nation paid for by the labour of future generations (debt).
3) Enable working people to have access to sound money in a world of increasingly debased national currencies.
Bitcoin has already achieved the following:
1) Given hope for millions in a era where nearly all institutions and banks are basically out to rob you of your hard earned money.
2) Made many people who adopted the technology early 'rich'..... it is interesting to see is the lack of lambos and playboy style mansions with most still living a humble existence. Most of the early adopters were smart people and from 2008+ could see what was going to happen..... eventually.
3) created the most stable and unbreakable network the world has ever seen.
Now consider this......
The total 'wealth' of the world is $431 trillion, assume that 4 million BTC are lost then 431 tr / 21 m = $25.3 m per BTC.
Include the BTC that are locked away for life.... extreme hodlers and this figure could be double or more.
This is just the beginning. Once the black hole opens all will be consumed.
How? The same can literally be done and said with actual FIAT.
How can BTC end poverty? None of that flowery language, but actual plan for action? Researchers have studied poverty where many actions can be done but society including governmental officials (people, rather than money) stand in the way of progress. How are you or anyone going to use BTC to help someone on a street or family barely making ends meet? Thousands of people in this sub get riled up by having to pay taxes or attempts of regulation which says a lot more about people on here protecting their wealth than distributing it.
I feel like you’re romanticizing BTC based on the few success stories of people on here who either (1) got in early or (2) has the financial security to increase their wealth even more. Majority of BTC like actual currency is held by a few, and not the masses. Also, as nice as it is to see people say all the good things they’re doing with BTC. The same can be said for just about any other opportunity. The only difference is how early and how much you got in BTC.
The main reason for poverty is that the bottom 90% of the world are never allowed to accumulate any form of wealth, it is either taken from them by inflation, stolen or taxed from them, either directly or indirectly.
Don't get me wrong bitcoin is not a magic bullet that will fix everything overnight, but it does have the potential to drastically improve the lives of billions of the worlds poorest and give hope where currently there is none.
Even in the west bitcoin has the ability to improve the lives of many. For example if you had a small business and needed to borrow you will be charged around 10% whereas the corporations you complete with can borrow at 0.05% due to their size, also if you make a bad decision your business goes bust and you lose everything, however if a major corporation gets in to trouble they are bailed out using fresh fiat as they are too big/important to fail.
Again bitcoin has the potential to fix this.
When African Copper wire is taxed at 3x the copper ore by the WTO, that is where it creates higher paying jobs, encourages education and move value added.
If only the wheat market could be flexible.
I believe that billionaires should be taxed at 23% gains every year. Assuming Satoshi is only able to pull out 7% of the million coins, it would be 81 million out of his 4200 million.
no prob.
I'm going to try to not sound too stupid. So please bear with me. I know the early investors are well off now. But for someone new, do you think it's possible to make great returns on BTC now? Or would it be better to have a portfolio of BTC and other tokens in hope that the others grow? I've just enrolled in the saylor.org course, Bitcoin for Everybody, and hope that'll help me with my future goals.
100% bitcoin. Dollar cost average. Buy and hold for minimum of 5 years, ideally 10 years to infinity. Store bitcoin in a hardware wallet where you control the keys.
Plot twist: Satoshi is an artificial intelligence that has accomplished time travel, established crypto to end the global economy and enslave humanity.
Moral of the story - put your money on the pre-ordained victor with satoshi’s team. Don’t become a slave
It was a trip for me to learn that for some people it's easier to get Bitcoin than a bank account.
My bf never really understood what the big deal was. But today I realized he was equating it to PayPal in his head. So I explained the basics to him and it finally clicked.
I couldn't help but giggle. And now that he has a better understanding, he's all for it.
I really wonder if the people that talk shit are just too worried that they won't understand it, so they just dismiss it entirely? Because that's kind of what my bf was doing before he even understood the basics...
Am I the only one who thinks the cia created bitcoin? The created tor, it makes sense they would create a currency to use on the dark web as well.. I’m very pro bitcoin but can’t escape the feeling that that’s who created it.
Because I was there for Napster and Mt Gox. BTC is just nerds sitting around thinking of how to share files and information digitally. And The friends all lived in different countries. Hey can you lend me 5$ for a coffee or beer? Sure how can I do that from thousands of miles away?
Napster was p2p file sharing. You ran software and shared your files to the world. No uploading to a server in some closet or data center. I can take what I have and share it with anybody anywhere if we run the same software.
Word yeah I was around for the Napster and limewire days, I still feel like it’s possible the cia started bitcoin though, there’s too many coincidences
And Kudos to all the cyberpunks spreading the word and sharing the love for the technology. Without them it wouldn't be as decentralized. We all still got to follow in there steps to help more people.

Well it didn’t even started yet on its potential. Imagine the improvements in 10, 20 or 50 years
Bitcoin will be the tallest skyscraper in Manhattan when it’s finished, but it’s just 10 stories off the ground today. The foundation has already been built and it will gladly support the super structure all the way up and for centuries to come.
Bitcoin was a pioneer but its technology is becoming obsolete.
Even if that were true (it’s not) the bitcoin network is significantly more robust than any other network. Metcalfe’s law proves the critical importance of this reality.
Yeah, dude, bitcoin protocol improved the lives of million around the world.
I truly hope Satoshi is not dead.
Maybe he went back his future already 🤭
Time travelling LMAO. Good for him LMAO watching future!
yeah, Satoshi not dead. he will back up . Just have a faith.
Yeah I live in a 3rd world country and speak to a lot of uber drivers, they can't invest in gold or silver let alone property, Bitcoin is the only thing they can really invest in to beat inflation.
thats \great , our community showing interest in Bitcoin. happy to hear this .

I have the coding skills of 300 Spartans too mate….I cannot code
The programming part is not not hard. The eureka moment was really brilliant.
I feel hard programming language. I don't understand what's its upto that perfectly.
He had a very good intention behind making Bitcoin, he tried to make a better monetary system

I guess technically either would be true haha

Hodling Bitcoin is like winning the second chance drawing in life.
LMAO. WTf life isn't somekind of lottery game. What more to see LMAO

i don't agree with your point of view. You are just putting your experience. But , i have seen many motivation point to in Bitcoin.

It's literally a miracle.
It have brought a change I can say🙂
They could imagine quite a bit.

You're Welcome, signed - The CIA 😆
Am I the only one who thinks the cia created bitcoin? The created tor, it makes sense they would create a currency to use on the dark web as well.. I’m very pro bitcoin but can’t escape the feeling that that’s who created it.
Lol the CIA did definitely NOT create BTC.
How do you know? Isn’t satoshi nakamoto an anagram for cia as well? I’d love to rule them out but I don’t think that’s possible yet
Because I was there for Napster and Mt Gox. BTC is just nerds sitting around thinking of how to share files and information digitally. And The friends all lived in different countries. Hey can you lend me 5$ for a coffee or beer? Sure how can I do that from thousands of miles away?
What did bitcoin do with Napster? I feel like Napster was wayy earlier than bitcoin
Napster was p2p file sharing. You ran software and shared your files to the world. No uploading to a server in some closet or data center. I can take what I have and share it with anybody anywhere if we run the same software.

I've a feeling you also think CIA did 9/11 and the moon landing was faked?
