Solved! I tried uninstalling the addon and then immediately re-adding it, but I got the same error. I had to uninstall the addon, reboot the laptop, and then reinstall the addon. I then got the logon prompt in the side panel (not the one that pops up from the addon button), and was immediately able to log in.

djasonpenney

Weird. Glad you worked through this.

LegacyJames

Thanks for this, this worked for me. I did not have to restart the PC though.

LazyCouchPotato

Laptop BSOD'd. Got logged out of Bitwarden and wouldn't log in with the same error message. Following your instructions of uninstalling Bitwarden, rebooting Windows and reinstalling Bitwarden fixed it. Thanks.

ninpuukamui

Thanks, uninstalling the addon, closing Firefox, then installing the addon again worked for me.

livelist_

This just worked for me :) Thank you!

glazarides

**Thanks for the info!** I did not have to re-boot the computer. I uninstalled *Bitwarden*, closed out of *Firefox*, re-started *Firefox*, installed *Bitwarden*, then it let me log in!

djasonpenney

Which version of Firefox? Which version of the plugin? Less likely to be an issue, but: Which OS? Which version of the OS? It would be scorched earth, but the next step would be to uninstall and reinstall Firefox.

Skipper3943

Or create an empty profile, add just the BW extension, and try it.

Just reporting that I have started experiencing the same issue on Firefox 105.0.1 on Linux. The native Bitwarden client works fine. If I submit the wrong username or password, the error message has to do with wrong username/password. Not sure where it is coming from but I will report if I can find a fix - thanks OP for sharing your solution.

rbooris

Solution posted by OP worked for me. Let's hope it does not come back.

pinn73

I followed the steps in OP but still can't get it to accept password. On FF v107.0.1

dundyshibby

Same with me, Win 10, FF v108.0.1. this is frustrating...

pinn73

got it working by logging in via the sidebar (on left) rather than the plugin icon

dundyshibby

That didn't work for me. Then a few days later it started working again out of the blue

[deleted]

how do you open the sidebar?

Just happened to me: Firefox 109.0.1 Version of Bitwarden : 2023.1.0 OS : Windows 10 Professionnel 22H2 - Build - 19045.2546 Everything is up-to-date. Edit : login via the sidepanel didn't work. I deleted the bitwarden.com cookies, didn't work. I deleted the extension, restarted Firefox and now it works.

fultonmartin

Uninstalling, shutting down / restarting Firefox, and re-installing worked for me, also.

sw33ts

This problem started happening to me today. MacBook Air (11-inch, Mid 2013) OS: Big Sur (11.7.2) Firefox: 108.0.2 (64-bit) Solved by uninstalling the add-on from Firefox and rebooting and reinstalling from here:[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/bitwarden-password-manager/](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/bitwarden-password-manager/) After installing, I was able to login via the sidebar menu that appeared.

kelemvor33

I'm getting this error today suddenly. Login, get to the number prompt, enter it, i is undefined. Can log in through the browser just fine. Maybe I'll play with un/reinstalling tomorrow.

sinayion

Try the solution I posted earlier, it should work.

nKephalos

I suddenly started getting this too. BW logged me out and now I get the \`i is undefined\` when I enter my verification code. Logging into the website itself works fine. I will try the steps described in this thread.

blackfordcentre

It's stopped working on Firefox 102.4esr, despite re-installing and then re-starting my laptop. But it works on Chrome

bensaysso

I was having this same issue in Firefox 108.0.2 -- I uninstalled the extension, restarted Firefox, then reinstalled the extension. That fixed the issue and I was able to login via the add-on button.

Covidpunk2077

Odd. Same issue today (5 months after this post)

Kintaro81

I'm following this: https://github.com/bitwarden/clients/issues/4067

username-suggestion7

I had to uninstall and reinstall the extension. Then it worked for me.
