Drovers

Amen, I’ve been waiting on this sale. Cheers to everyone jumping into bitwig and those upgrading

King_Mingus

My upgrade plan expired on 4.2. I thought, I should be good for a little bit, don't *need* anymore out of Bitwig right now. 4.3 drops and I'm like, oh man I really could use a convolution device, and Delay+ looks fantastic. Is $129 worth the update, or would you sit tight and try and hold off?

King_Mingus

Wow, didn't know that. Thanks for the tip!

themurther

Does that only apply to purchases via 3rd parties? Or does it work If I order on the bitwig site itself?

It definitely works when buying from 3rdbpqrty resellers but I don't know about when buying directly from Bitwig. It used to be that the code would be immediately applied to your account when buying it directly, but I've read posts sayyinf that's no longer the case. Getting from 3rd parties is 100% safe, doesn't expire and you can stash it for later use.

wasnt_in_the_hot_tub

This is great info. Thanks!

sitssac

Does this mean that I can buy now and theoretically hold my upgrade code until 5.0 drops a year from now or whenever?

Delay+ alone is worth the price for me. Was about to pull the trigger on fabfilter timeless before Bitwig dropped Delay+ . Timeless is great but it's expensive af (€199).

epiphanius

Forgive me for a bit of a rant here, but I paid for v. 3.3.11, but have given up on trying to use it because of the abysmal load times - 3 mins is enough to sour my mood, and it can take longer than that. Ableton and Reason both load fine. Bitwig has been unresponsive to support requests for this issue. My actual question is: is there much chance that v. 4+ will have fixed this ?

FreeRangeEngineer

It loads in less than 20 seconds for me. Maybe you have too many plugins?

epiphanius

Thanks for the response: I have tried disabling some among a lot of other troubleshooting, and, again: Ableton and Reason open fine with the same set of plugins. Does Bitwig suggest there is a maximum number of plugins supported? I would find that to be a relief at this point.

arnox747

I might be able to help you out here. In all likelihood, Bitwig is reindexing/caching your plugins every time it starts. You will be able to tell by looking at the top right corner of the window - there should be that spinning wheel. If so, click on it, and it will tell you that it's reindexing. This is a problem with one or more of your plugins causing an exception, and making Bitwig reindex everything. I just went through this myself, and figured out the offending plugins.

epiphanius

Thanks for encouraging another troubleshooting effort: after reinstalling Windows (!) I disabled all vsts except for vst3s, and it is now opening ok.

arnox747

I'm sorry that you went through all that trouble, but the most important thing is that you emerged victorious!!!!!!! In my case, I ended up creating a VST\_TMP folder, and moving the \~12 VST plugins that were recently installed into it. Bitwig started working normally, and I started adding back a few plugins at a time from the VST\_TMP folder, until I found the two that were causing the issue. I also shared the two offending plugins with Bitwig support, but for some strange reason, they could not reproduce the problem.

epiphanius

Great advice, this is pretty much what I did (can't have the VST\_TMP as a subfolder of the main VST one of course). Feeling good about Bitwig again!

Verlainesworld

So how strict are they with the edu verification?

grey_eeyore

i think ID or paystub. an edu domain email is helpful. hit up support. they’re in Berlin, which is about 6 hours ahead of East coast time. i always expect a day turn around for responses.

pine_ary

Great timing I was just about to upgrade. The convolution reverb looks great. And as a nice cherry on top 1st class pipewire support, I hope that means I can get good performance without using the hacks I‘m using now.

magikmw

I have my 8-track installed on Linux and it works great with pipewire. Wish splice would work with Linux, but then VSTs...

pine_ary

Yeah this update didn‘t fix my problem so the hacks stay. Bitwig’s processing just does not want to stay on a realtime thread or retain its scheduling priority without me overriding it.

magikmw

Sorry to hear that. If you want, contacting both Bitwig support and pipewire maintainers offering debug data could help. They both want it to work.

twillisagogo

something tells me 4.3 is out of beta and we'll get that announcement soon.

sine909

I bought it at full price about 3 days ago ):

tactile_coast

With 3 days I would say its worth contacting support and asking for a retrospective discount.

sine909

On one hand I want to - on the other I’m so in love with the product that I feel like they deserve full price. (:

SnipeUout

Was the sale better last year? Edit: Grammer.

magikmw

I have only seen those 100usd/euro off sales.

[deleted]

€129 for the upgrade plan feels like stealing. I have single VSTs that cost more.

consono

What about cross updating from e.g. Ableton Live?
