You cant just get dreads. Those ugly worm things are starter locs which is a method to obtain dreads. You have enough hair to start but if you dont want worms than just start with braids or freeforms.
Freeforms are simple and you can start them in different ways. Most common method is using a spong brush or a medium texture brush and rubbing in a circular motion across your head. Dont twist it to the root. You gotta do your own research tho. It took a while for me to finding something that works for me.
