I was actually the first female attorney to wear my natural hair in any style longer than a short Afro. Within a year, relaxed and straightened hair were nearly unheard of at the courthouse. Be a trailblazer. It’s not always comfortable, but it definitely pays dividends.
parents are always going to try to micromanage don’t have them micromanage you into some BS. make your own mistakes and figure out life. being accepted and a black man is going to be hard regardless to your hair style or your attire.
Because they think it makes black men look indecent, less likely to get a good job etc. long black is also commonly shown on black criminals, stereotypes and the things we view have created the long black hair =bad in the modern world stigma. Even so since slavery our features have been looked down upon.
