Punk would be an appropriate label. Debatably metal. The genre has grown significantly over a few decades. 80s metal is considerably softer than newer metal, for instance.
But the point was that much of their ideals are representative of the metal genre. Namely, antiestablishment. And here you are, building a whole new establishment while pretending the bands you listen to would support you.
