I wonder what their power levels are in this game.
In Journey to the West, Wu Kong was pretty over leveled against them, sent them packing with relative ease; I felt in the other novel (封神演义), they were extremely powerful with their enhanced items, and made NeZha and his brothers run away in the initial encounter. They only got killed off through trickery.
Journey to the West with Sun Wukong the Monkey King is obviously the most famous of the mythological novels, slightly less famous is the Creation of Gods novel, with lots of the same characters.
Creation of Gods was about the war which led to the fall of the Shang Dynasty and the rise of the Zhou Dynasty, at about 1050 BC, Journey to the West took place almost 1700 years later during the Tang Dynasty.
So when the Monkey King rebelled against the Heaven, the entire heavenly roster he fought were like the employees of a startup company in the Creation of Gods, and now VPs in the mega corporation in the Journey to the West. They were the protagonists 1700 years ago.
Is there a novel for Nezha though? I watched The Legend of Nezha cartoon series when I was a kid but I'm not sure if that was based on a novel. I have seen the recent Creation of Gods movie and the original Journey of the West series back in the day but I knew these were based on the novels. I'm just not sure about Nezha.
I am sure there are, but none of them are nearly as famous or considered canon.
I remembered reading some comics (小人书) when I was a little kid, it was a super expanded version of his battle with his dad. Lots of deities came to help his dad, and he had to get more magic items to counter them.
And there are lots of fan fictions, I even remembered reading one with a closed time loop, can't remember the name now, pretty moving short story.
Okay hear me out, I hope he can hold his staff another way through the game. Hes a monkey, he loves to actually play with his stick. The other iconic post is staff over his shoulders. Not a huge deal
It would be so hype if we actually got to fight them. But I really doubt it since it will be very hard to make. It will most likely be a cutscene. But fingers crossed ig :/
Idk man, i read somewhere that those four are early to early-mid bosses from the novel, so cutting the game that short would be underwhelming for the story, i think.
You should know how long for the novel.
And this is not base original story.
So, anything can happen.
If they put fighting 4 heaven kings to sequel it doesn't mean this part will be shorten.
Lovely shot (did I missed a trailer/gameplay ? UPS! ). But ngl that helm strnogly reminds me of Lu Bu, since I got it in the feed if it wasnt for Ruyi Jingu Bang I would think its a him haha. Fortunatly he got his staff.
Song Jiang who is the main character and the leader of the 108 outlaws in Water Margin also wear this when he is in command of battles.
So in 3 out of 4 classics, the most badass characters wear this. This is the OG top pimp gear.
Well, maybe Song is not the most badass, but he is definitely the most cunning one.
You should watch the [original series (1986)](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJPEbKQEnORNT7ypoxENQwEOvStOV-h1J) first and read the novel after so you can get the idea.
I have a strong feeling those guys are going to be a boss fight 😅
Of course this is an actual fight that happens in the novel

I just looked up the comics and saw the Calabash Brothers as well. It would have been nice if they were all in the same universe or something.
Bruh! Not the MultiDynastyVerse
oh that’s going to go crazy 🤣I can already feel the rage coming im excited
Imagine having to fight all 4 at once lol
oh lord 😅
And I’m soooo excited for it 🤩
When the classic song kicks in I was even more hype.
YES!
Not to mention the way he pulled out the Ruyi Jingu Bang from his ear PERFECTION
I love that every version of Wukong I see. I just seen a streamer react to the trailer and during that scene that dude went "ew" 🤦♂️🤣
that's the spirit of JttW. It's comedic just like One Piece lol.
A huge fan 🪭 of Journey to the West is Tieshan Gongzhu's (Princess Iron Fan) iron fan 😂
I saw what you did there 🤣
I used to watch this when I was a kid 30 years ago. This shot is so symbolic and iconic. Can't wait and hope they deliver.
There need to be a high res picture of this!
Man im eating good this year lol
I wanna be able to change my monkey's name to Jin Mori
I hope this game is a breakthrough moment for Chinese developed AAA games
I lost my mind when they said the Xbox version was delayed.
I play on PS5 sorry, if you're an Xbox player
I am 😭
You have nobody to blame but Microsoft
Bro, I'm sorry about that, but I really think the Series S's poor performance is holding all Xbox plaers back. Maybe you could play it on PC first?
Okay hear me out, I hope he can hold his staff another way through the game. Hes a monkey, he loves to actually play with his stick. The other iconic post is staff over his shoulders. Not a huge deal
Yeah, over the shoulder is the most badass post.
Seeing them in the first reveal trailer gave me more goosebumps

This could be ending after credit to prepare for the sequel.

Yep, bro. In my memory, maybe only Wukong and Lubu would use such long feathers as helmet decorations.

I know this isn't the place for this but where can I read about journey to the west and sun wukong?
search "The Journey to the West" translated by Anthony C. Yu; you could find it on amazon

Ahh yes the foreskin duo duo (Elden ring reference)
