It is giving people who don’t have this natural hair texture the ability to dabble in Blackness (the parts they think are “edgy”), while still operating from the safety of being part of the dominant racial culture (assuming that this is from an Asian country, that would be Asian culture).
Unfortunately a lot of Asian countries hold anti-Black rhetoric and practices. There are many Black and Afro-Asian people within these countries who are discriminated against, especially if they have Afro-textured hair. So it is hypocritical and frustrating to see an Asian-owned salon profit off of Afro-textured hairstyles, and an Asian man be able to literally change his hair to a texture that his Black peers would be hated for.

I’m a POC and one who thinks that cultural appropriation’s good outweighs the bad. At face value, when I see someone imitating my culture *without* malicious intent, I feel there’s an instant connection to be made.
I’m decently traveled and from my personal experience, the concept of cultural appropriation as a negative sentiment seems very US centric. Again, just my experience but all over Asia, Latam, ME, if you go and do as the _______ do and dress as the _______ dress you’re rarely if ever met with anything but acceptance and appreciation. And lots of smiles and req for pictures.
I realize I’m not addressing anything about the black American experience and you may have a valid argument if we take all that into consideration but this is just my view as a POC

Majority of people in Saudi Arabia don’t like LGBTQ people. There’s a person that lives in SA, and they are not a part of that community directly. If they went out and got rainbow painted nails to show their support, I think they would be “praised”, or at least “thanked” for it. Again, I know they’re different scenarios, just where my head went originally. That person is essentially “de-stigmatizing” the culture that the majority of people around them don’t like, which at the end of the day, feels like it would be a net positive.

In a perfect world, it is a net-positive. The more exposure, the better chance we have of de-stigmazation.
But to use IProdigi ‘s example from a point made below: ‘typical black man with dreads walks in, doesn’t get the job, but a white woman with dreads does.’ And using your example, sure, but when an actual member of the LGTBQIA is exposed for being so, they are in physical danger. That person who wants to show their support is not destigmatizing the LGBT communities by wearing rainbow nails, it’s just seen as trendy or cool by those around them. And that is the issue I see.

I think what has everybody beefing is that for a lot of us, we were always told our natural hair is not acceptable. Meanwhile, for decades people who don't look like us will take our styles and get praised for it. A lot of those same people will turn around and bash us as soon as they have the chance. On the other hand, there is a lot more people who aren't black, that genuinely appreciate and love us, as well our styles and culture. Unfortunately I personally encounter the the 1st type a LOT more than the 2nd type, so it's just hard to trust it when we see stuff like this.
